POWLING, A., PHILLIPS, A., PRITCHETT, R., SEGAR, S. T., WHEELER, R. & MARDIASTUTI, A. 2015. The vegetation of Lambusango Forest, Buton, Indonesia. Reinwardtia 14(2): 265 - 286. - Lambusango Forest is a tropical rainforest on the island of Buton, which lies close to south east Sulawesi. The forest covers an area of about 95.000 ha, with different parts of the forest having different levels of conservation protection. It lies on rocks of both calcareous (limestone) and non-calcareous (sandstone, conglomerate, peridotite and chert) nature, which give rise to soils with varying pH values, nutrient levels and water-holding capacities. The climate is seasonal, with a dry season of three months and considerable year-to-year variability due to El Nino and La Nina events. The vegetation on the different soils and in different habitats has been studied. Over 300 species of vascular plants found in the forest and surrounding areas are listed, including trees and shrubs, herbs, climbers, epiphytes, ferns and club-mosses. Two genera, Calamus with 18 species and Ficus with 29 species, are particularly species-rich, apparently due to their ability to occupy numerous edaphic and ecological niches. Species of these two genera are also good colonists and so better able to reach Buton in the recent past than other species. The plants of the forest indicate that Buton is floristically very similar to Sulawesi, with at least 83% of the species found in the forest also being known from Sulawesi. Most of the plant families and genera present on Buton are common in SE Asia, indicating colonisation primarily from that continent. Many fewer families and genera have colonised from the Australasian continent. The conservation of plant diversity is necessary for the forest to continue as a functioning ecosystem, to the benefit of the animals of the forest and also the local people.

Abstract

In this revision 11 species have been admitted for the Malaysian Archipelago, including 0. stipidacea which is described as new, from Brunei. A key, synonymy, and distribution are given. Ten species and one variety are reduced; three of these reductions (under O. macrodisea) are tentative, as of two of them no types were available. Another species, 0. villamilii Merr., is reduced to Pericopsis moonii. O. scandens, of which I ' have also seen no material, I have not been able to place; its pod is unknown.

Caperonia A.St.-Hil. is a new genus record for Peninsular Malaysia, with the species of Caperonia palustris (L.) A.St.-Hil. This paper will provide a description, distribution, habitat, and colour plates of the species.

Abstract

Andreeia, Monotropastrium and Wirtge-nia are reduced to the synonymy of Ckeilotheca. Four species are accepted, keyed out ami enumerated; a new combination, Ckeitotheen huiailie (D. Don) H. Keng, and a new species, Chtiilothtfcti aleumertima  H. Rene, are proposed.

Abstract

 1. The present paper is mainly based on studies on the spot of some members of the genus Anthoceros. Detailed descriptions and figures taken for the greatest part from living plants are given and notes on ecology and synonymy added.All species are treated as members of the genus Anthoceros, in which Aspiromitus Steph.and Phaeoceros Prosk. are included.2. Several of the species treated in this paper are very common in the cultivated area of West Java and their distribution is probably much wider than known at present and their number of synonyms larger.About forty badly described species of Stephani, based on material from tropical Asia, need a revision by a monographer. 3. Anthoceros tjibodensis W. Meijer appears in this paper as a new name for Anthoceros polyandrus Steph.

Abstract

KRAMADIBRATA, K. 2009. The distribution of Glomeromycota in cacao rhizosphere in Indonesia. Reinwardtia 12(5): 347–356. A study on the distribution of Glomeromycota (AF) in cacao soils in several cacao plantations in Java and Bali showed that Acaulospora walkeri as a dominant species and A. scrobiculata as a predominant species.

Abstract

ARDIYANI, M., ARDI, W. H., SANTOSO, W. & POULSEN, A. D.  2020.  Etlingera tjiasmantoi (Zingiberaceae), a new species from Central Sulawesi. Reinwardtia 19(2): 103‒108. ‒‒ A new species of Etlingera, Etlingera tjiasmantoi Ardiyani & Ardi, was discovered at Tentena, Central Sulawesi, and is described here. This species resembles Etlingera flexuosa A.D.Poulsen and Etlingera mamasarum A.D.Poulsen & Ardiyani but differs from both in having thecae dehiscing through their entire length and in the obovoid, glabrous and spineless fruits. The DNA barcode data, the line drawings of flower and fruit and the plate of E. tjiasmantoi were presented.

Abstract

The difficulties encountered in this group could not be solved by the application of this key to the numerous specimens I could study. In the type specimen of Scirpus pakapakensis Stapf from Borneo, Mt. Kinabalu, the stems are not trigonous. Although in Thwaites CP306 (type collection of Scirpus subcapitatus) the mucros of the leaf-sheaths and of the outermost glume are practically smooth, they are scaberulous in several Indian specimens otherwise quite agreeing with the type collection. In some specimens from Mt. Kinabalu the stems are slightly scaberulous at the top; for the rest they agree very well with the type of Scirpus clarkei Stapf.

RAHAYU, Y., CHIKMAWATI, T. & WIDJAJA, E. A. 2018. Nomenclatural study of Tetrastigma leucostaphylum and Tetrastigma rafflesiae (Vitaceae): two common hosts of Rafflesia in Sumatra. Reinwardtia 17(1): 59–66. – A study of Tetrastigma (Miq.) Planch. (Vitaceae) conducted in Sumatra has revealed a number of species records. There are two species were misinterpreted. Two species names are here discussed: T. leucostaphylum (Dennst.) Alston ex Mabb. and T. rafflesiae (Miq.) Planch., which formerly united with T. lanceolarium.
