Core Subject : Science,
Reinwardtia is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing the understanding of plant science, with a particular emphasis on three core areas: plant taxonomy, plant ecology, and ethnobotany. The journal serves as a vital platform for disseminating research that explores the classification, identification, and relationships of plant species (taxonomy), the interactions between plants and their environments (ecology), and the traditional knowledge and cultural significance of plants (ethnobotany). Reinwardtia places a strong focus on the flora of Southeast Asia, a region known for its rich biodiversity and complex ecosystems. It extends its coverage to neighboring regions, including the tropical areas of Northern Australia, providing insights into the plant life of these biologically diverse areas. The journal seeks to contribute to the global scientific community by publishing original research articles, reviews, and notes that deepen the understanding of plant species in these regions and their ecological and cultural contexts.

Abstract

Seven species of Burretwdendron are recognized,of which B.siamensis and B.yunnanensis are new to science. The distributional area of the genus covers Siam (one species), Yunnan (two species),Kweichow (one species);Kwangsi (three species)and Tonkin (two species).B. tonkinensis is reduced to the synonymy of B.hsienmu. A key to the species is presented.

Abstract

The American species of Phoebe Nees are relegated to Cinnamomum Trew; the reasons for this transfer are discussed. To retain nomenclatural stability the new combinations which have become necessary are presented, in anticipation of a general revision of the genus Cinnamomum; 68 new combinations and names are presented.

Abstract

This is an enumeration of 174 examined spacies and of 11 not examined ones, in 16 genera, collected in or recorded from Thailand. The treatment is largely in the same way as in the 'Florae Siamensis Enume-ratio'. Synonyms and references are given. All examined specimens are listed for each of the 7 provinces of Thailand indicated on a map, and their field notes are recorded. Distribution outside Thailand is given in some detail, and occasionally nomenclatural or other notes are added. In Lepironia 1 species is recognized, in Mupaniu 5, in Hypolyf/ntm 1, in Fuirena 2, in Lipocarpha 2, in H&miearpha 1, in Scirpus 10, in Elco-charis 8, in Fimbristylis 51, in Bulbostylis 3, in Cyperus 53, in Rltyncho-spora 7, in Triocostularia 1, in Schoemis 'I, in Gahnia 1, in Scleria 23. Novelties are Fimbristylis grudlenta var. psilopodu, Scleria biflora ssp. fervuginea, (Ohwi), and Scleria retieuiata (Holtt.). An index to collectors' numbers is given at the end.

Abstract

A monograph of Pometia, which extends from Ceylon throughout Malaysia to Samoa, with a few stations in SE. Asia and Formosa. Two species are recognized: P. ridleyi and P. pinnata, the latter having a particular pattern of alternating- nerves. Pometia pinnata is extremely variable and clearly still in process of differentiation. From the wealth of forms, 8 formae have been selected for taxonomic recognition, 1 of them is newly described, 7 are new combinations; characters are found in the leaves and the inflorescence. Besides, a number of unnamed paramorphs have been described. The distribution of the variability has been sketched for each region. Details about ecology etc. are given. Specimens are cited where appropriate and a general Identification List is given at the end.

Abstract

This supplement contains an account of a rather large number of Thailand specimens, collected by A. F. G. Kerr, Marcan, Put, and some others, kindly sent on loan to me by the Keeper of the British Museum (Nat. Hist.), Botany Department, Mr J. E. Dandy. A few additions from the Rijksherbaiium, Leyden, marked (L) and Copenhagen, marked (C), & c. are also added. Three species (nos 175 - 177) are new for Thailand. Among them Lipocarplia pygmaea is very remarkable, as it was so far only known from a recent collection by Van Steenis in Cambodia. Probably this dwarfish sedge was often overlooked. From the species recorded for Thailand as doubtful (Kern, I.e. 79) the record of 1. Cyperus eleusinoides Kunth has appeared to be 95. Cyperus nutans Vahl. Furthermore, the record of 7. Mariscus clarkei Turr. could be reduced to a variety of Cyperus cyperoides (L.) O. K. The numbers of the species are those used in the first paper. An index to collectors' numbers is given at the end.

Abstract

The name Machilus was created by Rumphius (Herb. Amboin. 3: 70, 1743). The first post-Linnean description is of Desrousseaux in Lamarck, Encycl. 3:668. 1791, who, however, failed to indicate a type species (a Rumphian species) and as Machilus Rumphius consists of 4 different species belonging to 3 different genera, Machilus Desrousseauxis not acceptable as it is confusing

Abstract

A key is given to 38 species of which 29 are either native or introduced in Malaysia; 9 others have been reported from Malaysia, but no material was found to justify these records. They have been marked by an asterisk before their number.Crotalaria grandiflora Reinw. has been reduced to C. tetragona Andr.C. lejoloba Bartl. is probably the oldest name for C.ferruginea Grah. ex Bth., but as no type material could be located the latter name has been maintained for the time being. Some sheets of the Philippines identified as C. acicularis Buch.-Ham. ex Bth. have proved to belong to C.humifusa Grah. ex Bth. which is a new record for these islands.C. medicaginea Lamk. and C. trifoliasU-um Willd.have sometimes been merged; they are kept apart in this paper.A new record for Malaysia is the African C. cleomifolia Welw. which has been introduced in the Malay Peninsula as a green manure; whether it has spread as a weed is uncertain.Another newly recorded species in Malaya is C.undtiella Lamk. collected in 1954 for the first time locally in abundance along the sandy beach.C. prostrata Rottl.is newly recorded for the Philippines.Among the species a few are indifferent to climate, but most apparently prefer the occurrence of a dry season in various degree. In mapping the areas it has been found that they can easily be arranged in the drought classes distinguished in the first instalment. An index to synonyms and a list of collector's numbers have been added at the end.

Abstract

In this revision 11 species have been admitted for the Malaysian Archipelago, including 0. stipidacea which is described as new, from Brunei. A key, synonymy, and distribution are given. Ten species and one variety are reduced; three of these reductions (under O. macrodisea) are tentative, as of two of them no types were available. Another species, 0. villamilii Merr., is reduced to Pericopsis moonii. O. scandens, of which I ' have also seen no material, I have not been able to place; its pod is unknown.
