Core Subject : Science,
Reinwardtia is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing the understanding of plant science, with a particular emphasis on three core areas: plant taxonomy, plant ecology, and ethnobotany. The journal serves as a vital platform for disseminating research that explores the classification, identification, and relationships of plant species (taxonomy), the interactions between plants and their environments (ecology), and the traditional knowledge and cultural significance of plants (ethnobotany). Reinwardtia places a strong focus on the flora of Southeast Asia, a region known for its rich biodiversity and complex ecosystems. It extends its coverage to neighboring regions, including the tropical areas of Northern Australia, providing insights into the plant life of these biologically diverse areas. The journal seeks to contribute to the global scientific community by publishing original research articles, reviews, and notes that deepen the understanding of plant species in these regions and their ecological and cultural contexts.

Burman (Thesaurus zeylanicus, 1737) depicted on tab. 79 Nux Moschata, spuria, sylvestris, Caryophylli arboris, oppositis, Nobis. The plate depicts a sterile branch with conspicuous, stalked, perulate leaf buds. The local name is given as Iryaghedhi (cited from Mus. Zeyl., p. 58). Linnaeus edumerated the species in Fl. Zeyl., p. 590 under "Barbarae Annihilatae".

Abstract

In 1966 an expedition worked in W. Irian to find the sources of vegetal medicaments for practising contraception. Dr. W. Soegeng Reksodihardjo and myself were assigned to locate the plants and to bring the material together. The field testing (vaginal smears of injected white mice) was carried out by Dr. R. C. Barnett, whereas the Office of General Hartono of the Indonesian Army provided transportation.

Abstract

Lindenbergia is represented in Asia by 7 species. Based on the hairiness of their ovaries L. muraria (Roxb.) Briihl (= L. urticifolia Lehm.) and L. indica (L.) Vatke (= L. polyantha Benth.) are reinstated as distinct species. I follow Bentham in including Lindenbergia in the tribe Gratioleae. Objection to the use of the aestivation of corolla as the only positive character for distinguishing subfamilies of the Scrophulariaceae is put forward; it is shown that several genera (Lindenbergia, Isoplexis, Lagotis, Erinus, Freylinia,, Phygelius and Mimulus) considered to belong to one subfamily actually have the aestivation character of the other subfamily. The occurrence of resupinatton of the flower in Dopatrium juncewm (Roxb.) Buch.-Ham. ex Benth. is recorded for the first time

Abstract

The scope of the monotypic genus Sara.wa.kus is enlarged to enable it to accommodate the newly described species Sarawakus sucoisus Rifai. A complete taxonomic revision of the genus is presented, in which it is shown that Sarawakus belongs to the Hypocreaceae and not to the Xylariaceae as some authors have suggested. Hypocrea gelaiinosa (Tode ex Fr.) Fr. subsp. oligotheea Penz. & Sacc. is accorded specific status as Hypocrea oligotheea (Penz. & Sacc.) Rifai and Phaeocreopsis pezizaeformis Boedijn is transferred to Hypocreopsis.

Abstract

With the premature death of Dr.Botjah Prijanto on 29 April 1969,Indonesian botany has lost one of its few potential cadres. That the progress of the development of botany in Indonesia will be seriously impeded by his untimely death will be evident from the fact that Dr. Prijanto was the first and only Indonesian palynologist. Moreover he was one of the very few Indonesian qualified taxonomic botanists to obtain and complete their academic training in well established botanical institutions abroad.

Abstract

Preliminary to a revision of the Myrsinaceae of the British Solomon Islands, we have found it necessary to name and validate the two large undescribed species of Tapeinosperma Hook.f., diagnoses of which are given in this paper, in order that their names may be available for use in connection with studies of the phytogeography of the Solomon Islands.

Abstract

Since its inception-in 1960, the monotypic genus Jarandersonia has been enlarged with a new species in 1962 (J. spinulosa).Since then two more collections have come to my attention, which represent undescribed species, one (S. 15561) distributed as Bombacaceae, the other (San 27885) as Rinorea cf. elmeri Merr. Moreover Dr. Anderson of the Forest Department, Kuching, Sarawak,in whose honour the genus was named, wrote me that Brownlowia clemensiae had been collected with fruit, which proved in to be a Jarandersonia, a fact, already suggested by Dr.P.Ashton in a draft MSS prepared for the Manual of Non-Dipterocarp Trees of Sarawak.Together with Dr. Anderson I had the opportunity to see a mature tree of the latter species near Kuching in June 1969 (S. 25415).The genus comprises now 5 species (J. clemensiae, parvifolia, purseglovei, rinoreoides and spinulosa).
