Abstract

Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory airway disease that causes the airway to narrow. Asthma patients experience ineffective breathing patterns. To overcome ineffective breathing patterns, the respiratory muscle-stretching technique can be used. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in oxygen saturation and decrease in respiratory rate after administering the Respiratory Muscle Stretching technique.  Methods: The study used a descriptive, case study design. It involved one asthma patient who experienced ineffective breathing patterns. Results: The case study shows that applying a respiratory muscle-stretching intervention for 1x6 hours, with a training duration of 15 minutes, increased oxygen saturation from 93% to 96% and decreased breathing frequency from 28 times/minute to 24 times/minute.Conclusion: Based on the case study results, respiratory muscle stretching techniques are effective in reducing breathing frequency and increasing oxygen saturation in asthma patients with ineffective breathing patterns.

Abstract

Background: A fracture is a bone break that is usually caused by trauma or physical force. The force of impact, the condition of the bone, and the soft tissues around it will determine the severity of the fracture. The problem in fracture patients usually arises in postoperative patients, which is pain. The objective of this case study is to understand the nursing care provided to post-operative fracture patients experiencing acute pain through a virtual reality (VR) intervention. Methods: This research is descriptive, using a case study approach of a single patient post-fracture surgery in the Sakura room at Dr. Soeratno Gemolong Regional General Hospital. Case data collection was conducted for 3 consecutive days, from February 12th to 14th, 2025, with a single 15-minute virtual reality (VR) session featuring a video of natural scenery. Results: The study shows that virtual reality (VR) reduces pain scores in post-fracture patients, from 6 (moderate pain) to 3 (mild pain). Conclusion: This virtual reality (VR) intervention is effective in reducing pain levels in post-operative patients.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of cancer continues to increase, and at this time, breast cancer is in first place in terms of the number of cancers in Indonesia and is one of the contributors to cancer deaths. Breast self-examination (BSE) is one way to detect breast cancer early. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and breast self-examination behavior in adolescent females at SMK Kesehatan Amanah Husada Yogyakarta. Methods: This study used a quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional design. The population of all female students in grades X, XI, and XII of SMK Kesehatan Amanah Husada Yogyakarta for the 2024/2025 school year is 115, and 54 are sampled. Determine the sample for each class using proportionate stratified random sampling and simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire on breast self-examination knowledge and behavior, which was then analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Respondents with good knowledge of breast self-examination were 32 (59.3%), enough knowledge as much as 10 (18.5%), and less knowledge as much as 12 (22.2%). In addition, respondents who did not perform breast self-examination behavior were 35 (64.8%), and those who performed were 19 (35.2%). The results of the chi-square test showed a significance value of p < 0.001 instead of p = 0.000.Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and breast self-examination behavior in adolescent females at SMK Kesehatan Amanah Husada Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood characterized by comprehensive changes. During this stage of development, adolescents face many challenges, including the emergence of feelings of anxiety. The daily examination process creates a mental burden for students. This condition becomes a major source of academic pressure and triggers academic anxiety. One non-pharmacological therapy that can reduce anxiety is the Five-Finger Hypnotherapy technique. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of the Five-Finger Hypnotherapy therapy on reducing anxiety levels in adolescents when facing daily examinations. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The research was conducted at SMA N 2 Boyolali in April 2025, involving 74 students as respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed that before the Five-Finger Hypnotherapy therapy was administered, 35 respondents (47.3%) experienced moderate anxiety, and 35 respondents (47.3%) experienced severe anxiety. After the therapy was given, 52 respondents (70.3%) were categorized as having no anxiety. The analysis results indicated a significant difference in anxiety levels before and after the Five-Finger Hypnotherapy therapy, with a p-value < 0.001. Conclusion: The Five-Finger Hypnotherapy therapy was proven to have a significant effect in reducing anxiety levels among adolescents facing daily examinations.

Abstract

Background: Nutritional problems in infants can negatively affect growth and development, including the risk of stunting. Maternal knowledge plays an important role in shaping feeding practices, yet many mothers still lack an adequate understanding of proper complementary feeding. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge of complementary feeding and infant nutritional status in a village with the highest stunting prevalence in Pamekasan Regency. Methods: A correlational analytic study design was employed, involving 54 mothers with infants aged 6–23 months selected through total sampling. Maternal knowledge was assessed using a closed-ended multiple-choice questionnaire, while infant nutritional status was evaluated using weight-for-age (WFA) Z-scores calculated with WHO Anthro version 3.2.2. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test. Results: The results showed a weak, non-significant negative correlation (r = −0.212; ρ = 0.124). Conclusion: Although no significant association was found, maternal education on complementary feeding should be strengthened. Nutrition programs should also address broader determinants, such as food access, caregiving practices, and health service utilization, to improve infant nutritional outcomes in stunting areas.
