Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate common fishing practices in Yenagoa floodwaters between October 11 and November 15, 2022. Data was collected by observation of fishing activities five times a week and face-to-face interviews with fishermen aimed at documenting the fishing practice, fishing gear, and fish landed. Results showed that most inhabitants of Yenagoa were involved in fishing, and three types of gear were the most common. Gears were used in the order Gill nets, traps, hooks, and line. The Cichlids were the most landed. It is pertinent to enlighten inhabitants of the implications of indiscriminate fishing activities during flood periods, as their fishing activities could lead to the depletion of fish stocks.

Abstract

Poultry farming is known widely all over the country, especially since it is considered a source of income for Filipino farmers. This study used a descriptive method to assess the practices of poultry farmers in eliminating risks. Most of the respondents agreed on the different risks in managing poultry this is the following; environmental risks, production risks, health risks, market risks, and financial risks. Determinants are; disease outbreaks, poultry facilities, veterinary care, supply of electricity and water, inadequate knowledge of poultry raising, and high feed prices. Most respondents stated that; management and strategic intervention will be applied in managing small-scale poultry. Such interventions stated are; promoting the quality of poultry products, maintaining poultry health and sanitation, having strong communication and coordination between all those involved in poultry veterinary service, having personal savings, investing in quality feeds, and biosecurity obtained.

Abstract

This research was undertaken to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation with Prosopis africana essential oil on the growth performance, nutrient retention, and oxidative stress indices of broiler chickens. Improvements in body weight gain and feed conversion ratio (P˂0.05) were observed in birds fed PAOs compared to the other treatments. The mortality rate was highest in T1 (5.33 %) followed by T2 (3.02%) and T3 (1.00%) (P˂0.05). Dressing percentage and weights of organs were significantly (P˂0.05) influenced by the treatments, except the weights of kidney, spleen, pancreas, and busra (P˃ 0.05). Dry matter and crude protein digestibility were highest in T3 through T6, intermediate in T2, and lowest in T1 (P˂0.05). Malondialdehyde, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, reduced glutathione, and superoxide dismutase were significantly (P˂0.05) different among the treatments. Conclusion: It was concluded that the dietary supplementation of PAOs up to 800 mg/kg in broiler chickens could arouse their appetite, translating to higher weight gain, increased secretion of enzymes in the gastro-intestinal tract, and a reduction of free radicals.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to assess the performance of post-emergence applications of Imazethapyr and Quizalofop-ethyl in combination with pre-emergence applications of Pendimethalin on green gram (Vigna radiata L.). The results revealed that treatment T2 (weed-free) had the best financial return (Rs 91250 ha-1) and B:C ratio (2.72), while among the herbicides treatments T10 and T8 had the highest net financial return (Rs 92706 ha-1) and B:C ratio (3.14), respectively.

Abstract

Bali, which is a world tourist destination, is still facing a waste problem because the amount of waste is increasing along with the increase in the number of tourists. The Suwung landfill, as the largest waste disposal site in Bali, is no longer able to accommodate the increasing amount of waste production. Tackling waste problems The Provincial Government of Bali issued Bali Governor Regulation Number 47 of 2019 concerning Source-Based Waste Management. Source-based waste management provides an opportunity for the community to be creative in processing the waste they produce, such as compost, liquid organic fertilizer, eco-enzymes, brackets, or biopesticides. Source-based waste management efforts require support from various parties, including banks. Banks can also play an important role in education and social campaigns about the importance of managing waste.
