Abstract

Bamboo is a primary raw material in Indonesian society. Bamboo is used for everyday needs because it is easy to process. Bamboo is one of the most frequently used raw materials in rural communities. Bamboo needs to be utilized and processed more optimally. This is in line with the conditions in Plalangan Village, which has abundant bamboo reserves. Research on bamboo-based products requires alternatives. The purpose of creating this artwork is to find the best option for processing bamboo into other alternatives to maximize the product. One solution is to make bamboo-based products using weaving techniques. This is important as the main capital so that the artwork/product can be included in the management of surrounding natural resources. The methods used in creating this work are reflection, exploration, elimination, realization, and awareness. The techniques used are cross weaving with a choice of square, pentagonal, and hexagonal shapes. These techniques can be used to form tubes, cubes, or other shapes according to product needs, such as living room and bedroom lamps, displays, or contemporary installations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the style, values, meaning, and educational function of the mural works of the Hysteria Community in public spaces in the city of Semarang, while also examining the public's acceptance of the social messages conveyed through these murals. A qualitative approach was used through observation, interviews, and documentation of two major works: "Tulang Lunak Bandeng Juwana" (2024) and "Doa Kuat!" (2025). Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis was used to interpret denotative and connotative meanings, while John Fiske's theory assessed how visual elements work at the levels of reality, representation, and ideology in shaping public understanding. The results of the study show that Hysteria utilizes local cultural symbols, visual metaphors, and color compositions to present communication that is not only aesthetic but also educational through a process of social awareness (PSR). Messages about adaptation, resilience, solidarity, and self-reflection are presented to encourage public engagement in understanding the dynamics of the city and the social issues that are inherent to it. Both murals serve as a medium for social learning that strengthens Semarang's cultural identity and builds a dialogical relationship between artists, the community, and public spaces.

Abstract

This article explores how anxiety disorder functions as a conceptual and emotional foundation in contemporary painting, particularly within the artist’s personal creative practice. The study examines how persistent worry, social discomfort, emotional sensitivity, and intrusive thoughts can be transformed into symbolic visual elements through a studio-based method. By observing internal emotional experiences and translating them into sketches, compositions, and painterly experimentation, the artworks reveal expressive figures, confined spaces, repeated eye motifs, and contrasting color arrangements that reflect the complex psychological atmosphere of anxiety. The findings demonstrate that painting becomes not only a medium for aesthetic expression but also a reflective and therapeutic space where internal conflict can be processed, reinterpreted, and communicated. This research concludes that anxiety disorder can enrich artistic creation by generating emotionally charged visual narratives that resonate deeply with both the artist and the audience.
