International Research Journal of Business Studies (IRJBS) comprises three constructs. The word “International” refers to our mission to provide readers with relevant fields of study and to involve authors in giving their contributions on an international scale. ”Research Journal” refers to our aim to function as a medium to disseminate research findings regardless of methodological differences. ”Business Studies” refers to the boundary of the fields of studies that we serve i.e. encompassing all disciplines and paradigms related to the studies of any facet of the business. Aim The primary objective of IRJBS is to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the area of business studies by presenting the results of an empirical study, including rigorous research methods, and providing managerial implications to the readers. Scope The IRJBS welcomes manuscripts in business management, which include the areas of strategic management, marketing management, finance management, organization, human resources management, and operations management. Starting Volume 13, Number 2 (2020), IRJBS publishes high-quality articles/papers using rigorous research with questions, evidence, and conclusions that are related to corporate management studies and recent trends that are relevant to business management scholars and business practitioners. More specifically, the IRJBS seeks to publish papers that ask and help to answer important and interesting questions in managing the corporation, develop and/or test theory, replicate prior studies, explore interesting phenomena, review and synthesize existing research, and evaluate the many methodologies used in the corporate management field. We welcome manuscripts in corporations within one geographic and/or across the geographic and business spectrum which include but are not limited to corporate strategy, corporate governance, corporate organization, and human capital, corporate finance, corporate marketing, and the operations aspect of the corporation. We appreciate a diverse range of research methods and are open to papers that rely on statistical inference, qualitative data, verbal theory, computational models, and mathematical models

Abstract

Employee productivity is influenced by a variety of factors. Productivity is essential for increasing employees’ performance, which contributes to organizations’ success. This study examines how work environment, work load, and supervisor support influence workforce productivity. Although several previous studies have investigated the factors influencing productivity, this study concentrates on three particular areas: workload, supervisor support and work environment. The primary data was gathered from business process outsourcing (BPO) employees, and an adapted questionnaire was distributed. A total of 100 business process outsourcing employees in Davao City completed the survey. The findings showed that a safe working place, workload, and the support of supervisor influenced the productivity of BPO employees. A p-value of < 01 indicates an association between a safe work environment, workload, and supervisor support and employee productivity. These results conclude that work environment, workload and supervisor support are positively influential on employee productivity among the BPO employees who participated in this study.

Abstract

Extensive research on human behavior and decision-making has been conducted because sustainable practices are among the elements that help improve the quality of human life today. Members of various generations act differently from others in terms of consumer references, ideas, habits, and how they approach societal issues when making judgments. In addition to determining whether or not they are persuaded to adopt specific investing niches, like sustainable investments, based on their personal perspectives, the research aims to ascertain the level of awareness of sustainability issues in finance among Millennials and Generation Z in Indonesia. The research is presented as quantitative research, with 240 individual investor samples. Data were examined using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results indicate that influencers do not impact sustainable investment, while impact on return, risk-averseness, and positive performance positively influence sustainable investments. Finally, this paper discusses the implications for investors and the government.

Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to establish a comprehensive comprehension of the attitudes harbored by Generation Z toward fintech products and services and to identify the influential factors shaping their adoption and utilization patterns. This study endeavors to provide valuable insights regarding the determinants impacting the adoption and usage of fintech within this demographic. To achieve this goal, a descriptive and exploratory research design was employed, drawing upon a sample comprising more than 200 respondents. The study offers an extensive analysis of the market landscape, key industry participants, and emerging trends that are reshaping the fintech sector. The research findings divulge that the variables such as technological compatibility, economic stability, and usage frequency have significant influence over Generation Z’s perception and willingness to embrace fintech. The results accentuate the pivotal role these factors play in shaping the level of acceptance and adoption of fintech technologies among this demographic.

Abstract

ESG is an important issue companies encounter when conducting business. The implementation of ESG with good performance will lead the company to be more prosperous and attractive to investors. This study examines how busy directors affect the increase in the value of companies that have good ESG performance within a sample of 41 public companies in Indonesia during the years 2017-2021. Data were obtained from Thomson Reuters and the companies’ annual reports. By using ESG score as a proxy for ESG performance variables and the percentage of busy directors’ presence in public companies, we can determine their influence on firm value. Panel data regression in e-views shows a positive and significant influence between ESG performance and firm value, and there is no significant effect between busy directors and firm value. Furthermore, we also find that the influence of busy directors as a moderator weakened the positive impact of ESG performance on firm value.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between industrial sector performance (ISP), human capital development (HCD), and economicgrowth (EG) in Nigeria. Data used in this study was obtained from World Development Indicators (WDI) and Penn World from 1981 to 2020 on GDP/capita, human capital index, and industrial output. The augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test was applied to obtain the stationarity conditions of the variables before performing the autoregressive distributed lag test to determine the short- and long-run relationships among the variables. The study reveals no long-run relationship among the variables; however, a negligible impact on human capital and industrial output in the short term exists, highlighting the need for government intervention. This is thefirst study to examine the tripartite relationship between industrial sector performance, human capital development, and economic growth in the Nigerian context, providing insight into the dynamics of the relationships in developing countries.

Abstract

Transmart, a retail business network in Indonesia, has adopted new survival strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research analyzes whether the health protocol service quality and advertising affect consumers’ intention and decision to shop at Transmart during the pandemic directly and indirectly. A primary data set of 112 samples was analyzed using path analysis with the convenience sampling method. The findings show that the health protocol service quality and advertising directly affect consumers’ intention and decision to shop at Transmart during the pandemic and that consumers’ intention is an intervening variable that mediates both indirect effects.

Abstract

Organizational marketing, sometimes referred to as business-to-business (B2B) marketing, typically deals with a limited clientele, resulting in a close relationship between customers and salespeople. The link must be managed carefully for the salesmen to employ entrepreneurial strategies to increase clients’ readiness to repurchase products and ultimately meet the company’s sales target, especially for those working in international markets. However, no well-validated model has been developed to demonstrate that salespeople who engage in corporate entrepreneurship and client-focused sales of the company do better in cross-border sales. The goal of the study is to test and validate a conceptual model that claims salespeople who engage in corporate entrepreneurship and client-centered selling perform better in cross-border sales when the company has a high capacity for absorption. Data analysis was done as part of the quantitative research method utilized in this study.

Abstract

Infrastructure development is a program that usually includes mega projects and involves many stakeholders in its implementation, thus providing great opportunities for knowledge creation. However, the complexity that arises often prevents the creation of knowledge, either through the process of improving existing knowledge or through the process of discovering new knowledge. The process of changing knowledge through knowledge management to facilitate intra- and inter-organizational knowledge transfer has been discussed in various studies on knowledge management, but specific discussion on how to communicate strategies in knowledge management, especially in the infrastructure industry, is still sparse. This study aims to determine how the knowledge management process and public relations program actions in knowledge communication strategy can be adopted. The strategy will motivate systematic efforts to develop information and knowledge and create value in the future. The methodology used in this paper is searching for data and information through books, journals, and articles related to the topic. The results of this paper provide an understanding of the concepts and strategies of knowledge communication in knowledge management and its application to the infrastructure industry.
