Abstract

Quail meat is a valuable source of animal protein, but its perishable nature requires proper storage methods to prevent spoilage. This study examined the effects of storage time and packaging type on quail carcass quality. A completely randomized design with a factorial pattern was used, focusing on two factors: storage time and packaging type, including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and plastic wrap. Variables observed were color, pH, water holding capacity, protein content, and total microbial count. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by the Duncan test for significant results (P < 0.05). The results showed that quail carcasses packed with PP plastic had the best quality after 9 days of cold storage, with a pH of 6.22, water holding capacity of 51.45%, protein content of 20.59%, and microbial count of 1.2 x 10⁶ cfu/gram. PP plastic, with a thickness of 0.8 mm, proved more effective than PE plastic (0.3 mm) and plastic wrap (0.2 mm) in preventing contamination, as thicker packaging provides a tighter seal, reducing air gaps that could allow bacteria to enter. Thus, PP plastic packaging is more effective in preserving quail carcass quality during storage, offering better protection against spoilage.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of mangosteen peel extract immersion on the quality of broiler chicken eggs during storage. Mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana L) contains bioactive compounds, such as xanthones, with antioxidant properties that can protect cells from oxidative damage, including egg cells. The research employed a completely randomized design with two factors: different concentrations of mangosteen peel extract (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) and storage durations (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by the Duncan test for significant results (P < 0.05). The findings revealed a highly significant effect (P < 0.01) of mangosteen peel extract on egg quality, measured through pH, egg white index, egg yolk index, and Haugh unit. Notably, eggs soaked in 10% mangosteen peel extract for 24 hours showed the highest Haugh unit value after 4 weeks of storage. The study suggests that tannins in the extract prevent egg white dilution, effectively preserving egg quality during storage.

Abstract

The contactless service implemented by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan during the Covid-19 pandemic changed the way of work, from working at office to working remotely or work from home. Work from home also possible to cause work family conflict. Based on research of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Gresik the researcher focuses on the influence of contactless service factors on the performance of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Gresik employees. This research aims to determine the influence of contactless service factors on the performance of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Gresik employees during the Covid-19 Pandemic with work family conflict as mediation. The method in this research was used quantitative methodology, by examining the relationship between contactless services (as measured by the cognitive demand dimension, off-work hours technology assisted job demands (off-TAJD), the perception of stress related to ICT use to stay connected with others, and recovery experience), work-family conflict, and employee performance.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic condition marked by elevated blood glucose levels, leading to damage in critical organs. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between diabetes self-management education (DSME) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in type 2 diabetes patients at the Balerejo Community Health Center. A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted, collecting data from 50 patients using consecutive sampling and analyzed through the Chi-Square test. The demographic profile showed that 60% of participants were female, 60% were aged 36-45, and 56% had a normal BMI. Most patients had good dietary management (64%) but poor physical exercise habits (84%). HRQoL results indicated that 64% scored high in physical functioning, with other domains such as vitality (56%) and social functioning (56%) also showing positive outcomes. A significant relationship was found between DSME and HRQoL, with a P-value of 0.002 and an odds ratio of 7.2. These findings underscore the crucial role of DSME in enhancing the quality of life for type 2 diabetes patients by promoting better disease management practices.

Abstract

This qualitative study aimed to propose a model for teaching metacognition in solving mathematical word problems, utilizing a Multiple Case Study Method. The research explored how teachers employ metacognitive strategies, focusing on two components: knowledge of cognition and regulation of cognition. The findings suggest that metacognitive instructional techniques enhance students' mathematical knowledge and problem-solving abilities. Teachers who incorporate various metacognitive strategies help students develop their own learning skills and create conditions for meaningful learning. The study concludes that connecting metacognitive teaching approaches makes math problem-solving more significant. The proposed model allows teachers flexibility in applying strategies based on their circumstances and students' needs. Importantly, the research emphasizes that mathematics teachers must have a thorough understanding of mathematical concepts to effectively implement metacognitive methods.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the values that exist in modern accounting. The Paradigma Nusantara method is employed in this research. The use of values inherent in modern accounting practices persists, as the value has been attached to these practices. This research is expected to raise individual awareness of the conduct of accounting practices. The Nusantara culture is selected as the approach, as it is characterised by high noble values and is already grounded. The novelty of this research lies in the formulation of new values in accounting practices.
