Abstract

The purpose of this study is to measure the extent to which the intensity of media consumption influences the formation of public opinion among Gen Z. Through a survey of several Gen Z respondents, it was found that the higher the intensity of media consumption, the stronger the influence on opinion formation. Social media was found to be the most important platform for shaping public opinion among Generation Z. The study also identified other factors that moderate the relationship, such as digital literacy and trust in information sources. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey design. This research has important practical implications for various parties, including policy makers, media industry players and educators. The findings show that Generation Z is highly susceptible to the influence of social media in forming opinions. In addition, the results of this study highlight the importance of media literacy in dealing with the rapid flow of information in the digital age.  It is therefore important for policymakers to develop better regulation of social media content. For media industry players, the results of this study can be used as a reference to develop more effective communication strategies. Meanwhile, educators need to equip young people with adequate media literacy skills to be critical consumers of information.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology (ICT) has had a significant impact on people's lifestyles, with the transition from the industrial era to the information society. This study highlights the role of social media, especially Instagram, as a major source of information in the digital era, which can surpass traditional media. The phenomenon of citizen journalism, defined as public participation in the gathering, reporting, analysis and dissemination of news, has empowered individuals to become active contributors to the dissemination of information. This research examines the application of citizen journalism through the Instagram account @MedanTalk, a leading social media platform in Medan, Indonesia. Using qualitative methods such as observation, interviews and documentation, this study analyses how @MedanTalk collects, verifies and disseminates information from the community. The results show that @MedanTalk successfully fills the gap in local news, especially regarding traffic conditions, public issues and social events, while encouraging community participation. Despite these benefits, challenges such as content validity and ethics in reporting remain a concern. Addressing these challenges through rigorous content management and promoting media literacy among users can increase the credibility and impact of these platforms. This research concludes that citizen journalism, as demonstrated by MedanTalk, plays an important role in creating an inclusive and participatory information ecosystem in the digital age.

Abstract

The orphanage has a large number of foster children of different ages. The orphanage strives to provide good care and upbringing for all the children in the orphanage. The residents of the orphanage are filled with children with an age range of 10-17 years. One form of activity in increasing self-confidence is the lecture method. This lecture activity itself is a forum for children to train self-confidence, and hone knowledge about Islam at the Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Orphanage. The purpose of this study was to determine the interpersonal communication patterns of caregivers in increasing the confidence of foster children at the Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Komad II Orphanage. The research method used is qualitative research method. Data collection techniques using interviews and documentation. The research informants in this study were caregivers of children at the Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Komad II Orphanage. The results of the study explain that the communication patterns carried out by caregivers at the Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Komad II Orphanage in increasing children's self-confidence are carried out by face to face methods which consist of several methods, such as linear methods, namely by conducting lectures at every magrib or at certain times which contain motivation and support to children to increase their self-confidence. Then other communication patterns are carried out by interactive methods, meaning that caregivers invite children who have low self-confidence to a room to share and create small groups in order to monitor and understand children's problems related to self-confidence.

Abstract

With his public speaking skills, he will be seen as a qualified person. Because Public Speaking is not only needed by those who work as public speakers such as teachers or lecturers. But also by those who have the need to intersect and communicate with many people. If he does not have a good ability to communicate with others, it will certainly interfere with the things that are doneThis research uses a Descriptive Method with a Qualitative approach, because the data to be collected is empirical data, namely facts in the field. The descriptive method in this study aims to describe the condition of the Public Speaking skills of Bina Creatif Medan Broadcasting Vocational School students, the methods and materials used, and describe the development of students' Public Speaking skills at Bina Creatif Medan Broadcasting Vocational SchoolResearchers conducted interview techniques to obtain data from the Development of Communication Skills of Bina Craetive Medan Broadcasting Vocational School Students through Public Speaking Learning. Based on the results of interviews conducted by researchers with Sir Efendi Syahputra, S.Kom M.I.Kom, Sir M. Syuaib Ambarita, S. Pd, Sir Wahyudi Hidayat, S.Kom M.i,Kom (SMK BBC MEDAN) The importance of public speaking skills is very absolute. This ability underlies everyone's success in various fields.

Abstract

In recent months, the act of robbery in Medan City has become increasingly troubling. Usually the robbery is carried out at night and with quiet street conditions. However, news circulated that the robbery was even carried out in the morning or afternoon where the conditions were crowded (many people were doing activities). The mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, did not remain silent seeing the situation. He asked the police to act decisively, including shooting dead the perpetrators if necessary. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the opinion of the people of Medan City about the Mayor's statement regarding shooting dead begalers. The type of research used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews distributed through google form to the community in Mabar Village, Medan Deli District, Medan City, totalling 12 research informants. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the public's public opinion on the Medan Mayor's call to shoot dead the perpetrators of robbery was mostly approved by the community. The reason is that the community has been very restless and insecure about the actions of the perpetrators of the increasingly troubling Begal, especially for workers who go to or return from work in the middle of the night (early morning), the act of robbery that occurred around UMSU and the Ringroad area which became the main news, as well as the experience of people who have been victims of the action of begalings which is the reason people agree to the call. The existence of the Medan Mayor's call to shoot dead the perpetrators of Begal can provide a deterrent effect for the perpetrators of Begal not to commit acts of robbery again.
