Abstract

This paper examines the role of communication in managing social conflict from the perspective of development communication with a focus on empowerment. Social conflict is often viewed as a failure of development; however, this study argues that conflict also reflects inequalities in communication processes and access to media. The objective of this study is to analyze how media and empowerment-based communication strategies contribute to conflict management within development contexts. Using a narrative literature review with a systematic approach, this study analyzes scholarly articles published over the last 10–15 years from national and international journals. Thematic synthesis is employed to identify key patterns related to media roles, participatory communication, and empowerment strategies. The findings indicate that media can function both as a catalyst and a mediator of conflict, depending on communication practices, while empowerment-oriented strategies such as community participation, dialogue, and media literacy play a crucial role in reducing conflict escalation. The study concludes that integrating empowerment principles into development communication enhances conflict management effectiveness.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of organizational workload in the Student Council (OSIS) on stress levels and mental health among eleventh-grade student leaders at Muharrikunajah Islamic Boarding School, Klaten. Student organizations in boarding schools play an important role in character and leadership development, yet excessive responsibilities may create psychological pressure. The research aims to analyze the level of organizational workload, identify stress symptoms, and describe the mental health condition of OSIS administrators. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected from six core OSIS administrators through a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire complemented by open-ended questions. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The findings indicate that the organizational workload ranges from moderate to high, particularly due to intensive activities, frequent night meetings, and limited supervisor support. Stress levels varied from low to high, with the OSIS chairman experiencing the highest stress. Although learning motivation and emotional regulation remained relatively stable, disturbances were found in daily balance and spiritual calmness. These results highlight the need for stronger supervision, proportional task distribution, and institutional support to maintain students’ mental well-being.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of lack of training for employees causing no development, and lack of work motivation because the company does not give appreciation to employees, as well as job promotions that are less objective to employees. This study aims to analyze the effect of training, work motivation, and job promotions on employee performance at CV Jaya Bersama Purwokerto branch. The research method used is a quantitative method. The population of this study was all employees of CV Jaya Bersama Purwokerto branch, totaling 34 people using saturated samples. The results of the study indicate that the training variable has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on performance, Job promotions are proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The coefficient of determination of 0.051 means that this research variable has a 51% effect on employee performance and the remaining 49% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The conclusion of this study is that the Influence of Training, Work Motivation, and Job Promotion is an important factor in improving employee performance at CV Jaya Bersama Purwokerto branch.
