The aim of this Journal is to promote a righteous approach to exploration, analysis, and research on philosophy, humanities, culture and anthropology, phenomenology, ethics, religious studies, philosophy of religion, and theology. The scope of this journal allows for philosophy, humanities, philosophy of culture and anthropology, phenomenological philosophy, epistemology, ethics, business ethics, philosophy of religion, religious studies, theology, dogmatic theology, systematic theology, theology of sacrament, moral theology, biblical theology, and pastoral theology.

In the midst of the busy world and various other problems in life such as the pandemic that seems endless, people tend to feel bored, afraid, and depressed. Prayer as a means of communication with God is one of the simple ways in which the believers can find help and comfort. Prayer becomes a spiritual activity that has the potential to raise the mood, to contribute a sense of peace, optimism, and courage. However, even among the Christians not everyone knows how to pray. One might need a spiritual director, one of whose duties is to guide the faithful in prayer. One can be a guide in prayer if he or she is experienced and really passionate about faith. The most important model in the Christian prayer life is Jesus himself. According to the Gospels, his life is filled with prayer activities at all times and in various places, and his life can be seen as a ‘prayer’ as it is always directed to God, his Father. Jesus gives a beautiful prayer that becomes a model of all prayers, namely the “Our Father”. This article spiritually explores how Jesus teaches his disciples to pray from a practical point of view. With his “Our Father” Jesus teaches how to pray properly and correctly from particular aspects, one of which is to whom one should pray and what things one should ask for in prayer. By way of this exploration, one can learn that Jesus is “a master of prayer” to learn from to pray better.

In his encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis invites everyone to move beyond his or her own world and open to others in the pursuit of universal fraternity and social friendship. However, the seeds of division are also growing in the Church’s internal environment today. In the life of the Church, there have been rifts in various levels of fraternal relation, which is often triggered by the tendency of some members in prioritising personal or group interests. This tendency can create barriers that hinder the growth and the development of healthy relationships in Christian life and may affect the pastoral care in the field. This article responds to these problems by offering some models to (re)build the fraternity in the Church by delving into the spirituality inspired by Fratelli Tutti. The models bring forward themes like generosity without borders, all-embracing dialogue, and new encounters. From their methodological characters, these models are basically flexible, open to interpretation according to the contextual challenges, and complement to each other. The approaches of these models are intended to realise the spirituality of fraternity from among the Church members.

Communication is a necessity for everyone. Christian families also need ways of communication to be practiced in the small community. Husband and wife, parents and children, are the parties directly involved in family communication. However, family members may tend to ignore problems in the daily activities of the family, while each member has a responsibility to solve them by means of appropriate communication. Family members need to work together to build communication that is appropriate for their respective situations. Communication can be seen as an art learned by the families in good times, but also a practical way to face trouble. This article proposes three models, that is, realistic, spiritual, and imaginative communication models that may inspire families to practice communication in the light of Christian spirituality. These models invite family members to speak more honestly, recommend particular topics to fill their conversations by bringing up the spiritual aspect, and relate their personal hopes with God’s will. Through the models of communication, family members can practice spiritual and realistic communication in their small Christian community and together experience growth in their life of faith.

The longing of every sinner is to return to the right path. A sinner wants forgiveness and mercy. In the spiritual context, drug addiction is a form of sin that destroys human relationship with God. Drug addicts are victims of human failure to control their desires and thus they suffer and lose their dignity. To return to normal life and regain his or her dignity, a drug addict must follow a rehabilitation process. A therapeutic community for drug addicts is a rehabilitation model that involves the role of others in the recovery process. The atmosphere of community life, fraternity, and togetherness is built in this community so that each person can feel wholeness as dignified and loving human being. A therapeutic community needs a model of spirituality to achieve the aspired values. This article explores the parable of Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32 to inspire a model of spirituality that can be used in a rehabilitation community for drug addicts, namely, the spirituality of compassion and mercy. In the spirituality of compassion and mercy, a drug addict is readmitted to the community to restore his or her dignity.

There are many people with different abilities who live in injustice. In Indonesia, during the COVID-19 pandemic acts of violence and exploitation have been reported by Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) stating 110 cases of violence against children with different abilities. KPPPA mentions several types of vulnerabilities experienced by children during the Covid-19 pandemic. Children who lost their parents because of Covid-19 have been exploited by their families for economic benefits. Other cases surface from the stigma that being different they are vulnerable to being scolded or treated with violence and mislabeled as second-class persons. Injustice is also caused by the lack of opportunities and knowledge in the society. The Church respects human dignity based on the Creation in the Scriptures, when “God saw everything that He had made and it was very good” (Gen.1:31). Jean Vanier in his theology of incarnation says that in their weakness, people with different abilities receive the grace of God’s presence. The Church affirms to protect them and to prohibit others patronising those with “different abilities” as well as invites everyone to care by recognising human rights and dignity.
