Abstract

Aim: This paper aims to provide information on how well college students fared on the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) exams. The MOS and MTA programs offer extensive resources to aid teachers in achieving world-class ICT integration in the classroom.Methodology: Student exam takers’ Certiport results from De La Salle University-Dasmarinas in Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines, were analyzed using a quantitative-descriptive secondary data analysis.Findings: There was a 34% success rate for those attempting certification, a 63% failure rate, and a 3% incomplete rate. The results of this test will attest to the student’s readiness for entry-level employment. Teachers and students alike can benefit from this certification program, which makes it simple to test their knowledge of productivity tools via the web.Implications/Novelty: Taking into account the range of the fundamentals and precepts of MOS and MTA, the findings of this research are useful for educational institutions because they can be used as the basis for crafting a program or an improvement plan for the curriculum, facilities, or training geared towards these certifications schemes.

Abstract

Aim: In this action research, a strategy is created to meet the demand for increasing the participation of Graduate School (GS) faculty and students at the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) in the intensification of UIC’s research and publication culture to bring it up to the same level as its international recognition.Methodology: Purposively selecting 30 participants to represent the various stakeholders of the UIC GS, we used a qualitative descriptive research design called Practical Action Research (PAR) to facilitate brainstorming and exploratory sessions aimed at answering our research objectives, which included the following: a) increasing graduate faculty and student research productivity; b) formalizing mentor-mentee publication authorship; and c) incorporating innovative research pedagogies.Findings: Our research uncovered systemic problems with far-reaching implications that share common causes and potential remedies. Lack of well-articulated policies, research experts, research class directions, and members’ confidence are all issues that regularly arise.Implications/Novelty: To improve the research and publication climate at UIC GS, we came up with a few suggestions as a starting point for a long-term strategy.

Abstract

Aim: This research aimed to follow up with UIC Bachelor of Music graduates working in Davao City and the surrounding area between 1996 and 2016.Methodology: A total of 31 recent college grads agreed to fill out the CHED-modified survey and contribute to the study, which used a descriptive research design and a purposive snowball sampling technique.Findings: Despite the economic downturn, 51.8% of respondents were able to secure employment within six months of graduating; the vast majority of these individuals are in the teaching profession and are therefore employed in schools or studios. Almost half (42%) of current employees are consistent, with most having heard about their positions through personal recommendations. Respondents believe their education at UIC has helped them become more marketable to potential employers because of the curriculum they have taken away from their time there and the values they have internalized.Implications/Novelty: The distribution industries in Davao City and beyond have not been studied before, and this study is the first to undertake an activity that can pinpoint the employment placement of music graduates and profile their employment/entrepreneurial endeavors.

Abstract

Aim: This research aimed to examine the functionality and usability of NARERO’s administrative interface. As a means of analyzing user obstacles and providing recommendations, we looked at the blind spots in the NARERO learning system’s usage.Methodology: This research summarizes and organizes the issues with the NARERO learning system by collecting and analyzing data about people, events, and objects through observation, literature collection, and user evaluation. In addition, an objective experimental test was used to evaluate user satisfaction, and a Likert scale was employed to measure and analyze user evaluations and learning performance. Five professionals and forty high school students each gave their opinion on the system’s user interface in an objective experiment. In conclusion, system operations were carried out to aid in assessing academic performance.Findings: When looking at the expert evaluation results, most of the testers were pleased with how the NARERO learning system’s functions were designed. Furthermore, the system’s aesthetic design and usability could have been enhanced.Novelty/Implications: By learning and training the entire system, students can use the digital instruction system to select the course that best suits their interests and abilities.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to better understand the unique aspects of Vietnamese ancestor veneration. Ancestor worship in Vietnam is the subject of this study, which focuses on the largely unmentioned relationship with Confucianism, specifically the filial piety concept based on the patrilineal bloodline.Methodology: Methods like interviews were used extensively in Ho Chi Minh City’s fieldwork research, with a focus on a small neighborhood populated by people from the north, where more traditional values prevail.Findings: Thus, for instance, the son preference was a clear expression of the Confucian ancestor worship based on Confucianism’s patrilineal bloodline. In addition, this study aims to shed light on the evolution of ancestor worship by analyzing traditional characteristics and their connection to Vietnam’s historical context, all against the backdrop of the many influential factors undergoing rapid change today.Novelty/Implications: This research sets out to draw attention to a recent shift in the way Vietnamese celebrate their dead. Ancestral worship in Vietnam is a topic of current and future study, and the shift in emphasis away from the Confucian concept of patrilineal lineage is a key factor.
