Abstract

Aim: This paper analyzes the current demand for denim apparel in Sri Lanka to determine the factors influencing consumer preferences when purchasing denim jeans. Women’s denim jeans are trending due to a wide variety of flattering cuts and washes. According to the data, women were more likely to buy denim jeans, and they were increasingly interested in the fashion industry. Although research has been done to assess consumer preference in the Sri Lankan denim fashion apparel market, it has yet to be useful in determining how consumers feel about denim jeans globally.Method: The researchers used a questionnaire to evaluate factors of preference for buying denim jeans. We received 88 completed surveys from interested consumers.Findings: When shopping for denim jeans, 85.5% of consumers place a high priority on quality, according to the data. This research lends credence to the idea that consumers’ tastes in denim jeans are complex and multifaceted. Results were analyzed, and it was determined that some of the suggestions could be implemented in future product development to improve the quality and aesthetic appeal of denim jeans sold in the Sri Lankan denim apparel fashion market.Implications/Novel Contribution: Although denim jeans are a staple in Sri Lankan wardrobes, there is a paucity of research into consumer consumers for this ubiquitous product. To improve the future of retail fashion in Sri Lanka, this study reveals some crucial facts about denim apparel brands and factors of preference of such consumers.

Abstract

Aim: The research aims to unearth cultural norms for using natural dyes that can be adapted for modern clothing production. The ability to dye with natural pigments is compared to synthetic dyes. Natural dyeing problems include a lengthy extraction process, moderate colorfastness to washing and light, and a lack of availability in large quantities, making them some of today’s most pressing research priorities. To achieve more vibrant colors, most modern users of natural dyes resort to fixing agents containing heavy metal chemicals, which negatively affect environmental health. Sustainability in clothing has recently emerged as an important metric for the fashion industry.Method: Primary data was gathered through in-depth, descriptive interviews with people who have been using natural dyes for a long time in their craft. Black clay dyeing and the process of dying Buddhist robes with indigo have both been used for centuries. As practiced traditionally, natural dyes, mordants, fixing agents, and washing and drying practices are documented.Findings: It was discovered that plants producing milky sap, tannin such exudations, and mud dyeing are effective fixing agents for producing more vibrant colors.Implications/Novel Contribution: In this study, we propose the true concept of natural dyeing, which can be used as a selling point when promoting naturally colored goods.

Abstract

Aim: This research was carried out in the Colombo Metropolitan Area of Sri Lanka to evaluate the public library as a reading resource for children in that region.Method: The case study for this research was decided to be the Colombo Public Library in Sri Lanka, and the research was conducted using the survey method. Participants in the study were children younger than 14 years old who were attendees of the Colombo Public Library in Sri Lanka. The population was divided into different strata, and a nonprobability sampling technique was used to choose which samples to take. The survey’s data collection was accomplished through the use of a questionnaire in addition to structured interviews.Findings: Based on the results, the children’s library should be placed where children can quickly get to it. This children’s library was frequented by many seventh- and ninth-graders. It’s safe to assume that most school-aged children in the Colombo Metropolitan Area regularly visit the children’s library. The children’s library does not offer standard services such as interlibrary loans, documentation, government publications, or audiovisual services. An uneven number of Sinhala, Tamil, and English books are available at the library. Although magazines are few and far between, their information, intelligence, and appreciation are too advanced for children under 14. The lack of Tamil and English-language newspapers for readers is one of the collection’s most serious flaws. It prevents children from learning to be good people and succeeding in school.Implications/Novel Contribution: The Colombo Public Library, which aims to encourage young people to develop healthy reading habits, can use this analysis to improve the quality of library services they provide to young people. Any library can use the information to serve its patrons better, and new children’s library development schemes can be formulated with the information in mind.

Abstract

Aim: This article investigates the knowledge and skills required by teachers of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) to effectively implement computers and related technologies in the classroom.Method: The survey used a structured questionnaire with 44 items about the participant’s knowledge, opinions, and feelings regarding computer operation. TVE instructors at six different northern Nigerian tertiary technical institutions were each given one of sixty questionnaires to administer to their teachers (Bauchi and Gombe). Multilinear Regression (MLR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, such as Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and an Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), were used to analyze the data (ANFIS). While the ANN and ANFIS models were developed using MATLAB 9.3 (R2019a), the classical linear MLR model was created in SPSS.Findings: The results show that teachers in technical and vocational fields are highly proficient in using digital tools, with a strong relationship between competence and teaching experience and a weaker relationship between competence and gender.Implications/Novel Contribution: This will help scholars, administrators, and teachers in Nigeria, as well as the Nigerian Ministry of Education
