Abstract

Catfish (Pangasius sp.) is one of the superior freshwater fish commodities in Indonesia which is in great demand by local and foreign communities because the price is relatively affordable. The high demand for patin fish in the market has resulted in many people switching to cultivating patin fish as a livelihood. In cultivation activities, one aspect related to the growth of catfish is feed. The method used in this study is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The purpose of this study was to obtain the best dose of feed supplemented with herbal feed in catfish maintenance using a recirculation system. The placement of each treatment in the experimental unit was carried out randomly. The treatments given were PO: Control, P1: 100 ml / kg feed, P2: 200 ml / kg, P3: 300 ml / kg, P4. 400 ml / kg. The best treatment was obtained in treatment P3 with a dose of 300 mL/kg feed which resulted in absolute weight growth of 2.31±0.01 g, absolute length growth of 1.32±0.01 cm, specific growth rate of 1.5310.01%/day, survival rate of 100%, feed conversion ratio of 1.07±0.01 kg

Abstract

This research was conducted from June to July 2024 at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study was to determine the best dose of ketapang leaf powder (Terminalia catappa) on water chemistry parameters in the growth medium of baung fish fry (Hemibagrus nemurus). The research method used a one-factor Completely Randomized Design with 4 levels of treatment and 3 replicates. P0 (control), the use of ketapang leaf powder at a dose of 0.5 g/L (P1), 1 g/L (P2), 1.5 g/L (P3), and 2.5 g/L (P4). Giving ketapang leaf powder with different doses gives an influence on water chemistry parameters in the growth medium of Asian redtail catfish. P1 with a dose of 0.5 g/L produced the best growth and survival reached 93.33%. Providing good water quality during the study, pH was in the range of 6.53-7.20, DO 4.18-4.21 mg/L, temperature 27-28.67oC. On day 30, the lowest ammonia level was found in treatment P1 at 0.0683.

Abstract

Trichogaster trichopterus Pall is a freshwater fish widely found in Indonesian waters, particularly in the swamp areas of Riau Province. This study was conducted from September 2024 to March 2025 at the Laboratory of Fish Parasites and Diseases, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. The objective of this research was to analyze the intestinal tissue structure of T. trichopterus infected with Clinostomum sp. The methods used were purposive sampling and survey techniques. Fish samples were collected from the reservoir at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. Sampling was conducted three times over 30 days at four predetermined stations. Station I was located at the reservoir entrance, Station II to the west, Station III to the north of the entrance, with a 50-meter distance between stations, and Station IV was located upstream. The research procedures included sampling, intestinal organ fixation in formalin, and preparation of histopathological slides through a series of stages: dehydration, alcohol removal, infiltration, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting. Observed parameters included clinical symptoms and intestinal histological structure, which were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the intestines of infected fish exhibited alterations, including epithelial lifting, goblet cell proliferation, oedema, hypertrophy, haemorrhage, inflammatory cell infiltration, and necrosis. The histopathological index of infected fish intestines reached a damage score of 7, categorised as severe. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that Clinostomum sp. infection causes significant alterations to the intestinal structure of T. trichopterus
