Abstract

The purposes of this research are to know the influence of problem based learning model with key relation chart media toward the student?s critical thinking and group cooperation in VIII class of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta Academic Year 2012/2013. This research was quasi experimental research with post-test non equivalent control croup design and cluster sampling technique. The population of this research was all students in VIII class of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta Academic Year 2012/2013, the sample was two classes, they are experiment class used problem based learning model with key relation chart media and control class with convensional model, that is variative speech learning model with simple chart. Data collection technique was with essay test, cooperation observation sheet, questionnaire of cooperation, and student?s early value documentation. Based on hypothesis test result with t test, it has obtained  t count value, that are 2,169 and sig. are 0,037 for student?s group cooperation value. Sig?s value from two t test for critical thinking variable and student?s group cooperation were bigger than 0,05, so Ho was denied. It has showed that critical thinking and student?s group cooperation in experiment and control class was really different. The result of  data analysis above proof  that there was an influence of problem based learning model with key relation chart media toward critical thinking and student?s group cooperation in VIII class of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta Academic Year 2012/2013. Keywords: problem based learning model, key relation chart media, critical thinking, group cooperation.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Predict Observe Explain Write on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013..This study was a quasi experiment research. Posstet only nonequivalent control group design is used in this research. The population of research was all X grades of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013 consisiting 285 students. Cluster sampling.is used to this research. The result of cluster sampling is choosen for X6 as experimental gruop and X7 as control group. Predict observe explain write model is applied in experimental group and conventional model is applied in control group.  The data was collected by using critical thinking test, observastion sheet, and school documents. The data were analyzed by t-test.The results of this research shows that the mean of student?s capability of critical thinking in experiment class higher than control class, it was 70,41 for experiment class and 61,98 for control class.  The result of hypothesis is analyzed by t-test and it gets significant value 0,000 (sig.<0,05), so the Predict Observe Explain Write model has effect toward student?s capability of critical thinking. This conclution is the application of Predict Observe Explain Write models has real effect toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013 . Keywords: Predict Observe Explain model, Think Talk Write strategy, Critical Thinking Ability

Abstract

The aim of this research was to ascertain the difference of:1. Creative thinking between open ended- group investigation learning models and conventional learning of X Grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta.2.  Science process skills between open ended- group investigation learning models and conventional learning of X grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design. This research applied open ended- group investigation learning models in experimental group and conventional (lecture, discussion, experiments) learning models in control group.  The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta in academic year 2012/2013. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X.9 as experiment group and X.10 as control group. Data was collected using ability think creatively test, KPS test, observation sheet, and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. Results of hypotheses for creative thingking showed that sig.> 0,05 is 0,206 and tcount< t table is 1,282<2,007 so that Ho is accepted. The test results that the KPS hypotheses for sig.< 0,05 is 0,04 and tcount> t table is 3,009<2,007 so Ho is rejected.Based the result of discussion in this study, the conclusion is: 1. There is no difference of creative thingking between open ended- group investigation learning models and conventional learning at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. 2. There is a difference of science process skill between open ended- group investigation learning models and conventional learning at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. Keywords: open ended-group investigation learning models, creative thinking, science process skills.

This research is to know the effect of studying Problem Based Learning (PBL) to tenth grade of SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta students critical thingking ability in academic year 2012/2013..This research include on Quasy Experiment with the research design posttest only non equivalent group design. This research applies Problem Based Learning (PBL) to the experiment group and variative communication method learning to control group. The population research is the whole of tenth students of SMA 6 Surakarta year 2012/2013. The withdrawal sample technic is sampling cluster and is taken two clasess the experiment group and control group. The data collection technic uses  test technic to know the environment pollution and the measure the students? critical ability, the school documentation as the first ability used to test the balace, and observation sheet to see the doing activity in the form of: the students? action, ability, and attitude. Hypothesis test uses T-test with SPSS 16 program. This research results is to show that through application learning Problem Based Learning, students participate actively in the learning process. The hypothesis test results the conclusion test (sig) 0,05 until the HO is refused. This means that the average result critical ability between control class and experiment class are different. The pronouncement is also supported descriptively that is form the average value of critical ability in the amount of 76.14862 for the experiment class and 83.24593 for the control class. This research concludes that Problem Based Learning affects to the tenth students' critical ability of SMAN 6 Surakarta year 2012/2013.
