Abstract

In the last few decades, English has emerged as the pre-eminent language for international communication. It is spoken by more people around the world than any other language, and is regularly described as a truly ‘global’ language. In this article the role that English plays in the world today, and examines the social, political and cultural factors that have influenced its development is illustrated. It traces the history of the language from its arrival in Britain in the fifth century AD through to the present day and its status as a language with a truly global reach. It looks at how and why English came to occupy this position, and at what the consequences of its global spread are for the way it’s used and perceived around the world.

Abstract

The study determined school leader’s viewpoint of teachers’ efficacy on implementation of the blended learning modality in the Schools Division of Valencia City, school year 2022-2023. Specifically, it unravel the school leader’s assessment of teacher’s ability to implement blended learning modality; discover the experiences of school leaders in handling teachers who struggled while using the blended learning modality during and after the teaching- learning process; describe how the Teachers’ cope with the problems they are facing during and after the Blended learning modality; and show how school leaders motivates and get stoked to boost teachers’ effectiveness through Blended Learning Modality. A qualitative approach was employed in this study. Survey and semi-structured interviews were utilized in gathering the data. The participants of this study are the four (4) public elementary and secondary school leaders from the Schools Division of Valencia City. The school leader’s assessment of teacher’s ability to implement blended learning modality includes learners change in behavior, classroom observations, created supplemental materials, and flexibility. The experiences of school leaders in handling teachers who struggled while using the blended learning modality during and after the teaching - learning process include creativity, limited knowledge, congested curriculum, and time management. Teachers coping mechanism with the problems they are facing during and after the blended learning modality include dedication, planning, collaboration, flexibility, and trainings and school leaders motivated and get stoked to boost teachers’ effectiveness through blended learning modality include guidance, affirmation, advices, and collaborative climate.

Abstract

This study examines the instructional leadership (IL) role of international school principals in Sri Lanka. The main aim of this study was to identyfy how do principal’s play instructional leadership roles as instructional leader in international schools. The objevtives of the study were to find out principal’s role as instructional leader in international schools and to identify what activities principals engage in promoting the education of students and upgrading the pedagogy of teachers in international schools. The multiple case study method was used in the current study. Accordingly, Semi-structured interviews and focused group discussions were used as data collecting tools. As the study sample three principals, and nine teachers were selected using purposive sampling for interviews and group discussion. The study found that all principals in the sample success to balance their general administrative responsibilities and instructional leadership roles. All the principals in the sample mentioned that they implement innovative methodologies to promote the education of students and upgrading the pedagogy of teachers. The study further found that principals pay a significsnt attention on teachers professional devlopment, provision of instructional materials and incentives for teaching and learning by international schools principals as instructional leaders. It was further found that principals in international schools face difficulties in terms of retention of qualified trained teachers as a significant number of teachers (nearly 30%) are leaving the country. Therefore it is recommended that the international school principals need to be taken immediate action in order to retain qualified experienced teachers in their schools.

Abstract

Pedagogical activity is a complex process, which manifests various social and psychological aspects. Pedagogical activity was scientifically analyzed in the article, and models of pedagogical activity were studied based on the principles of a systematic approach. Also, the opinions of foreign scientists on the content and structure of pedagogical activity are given. Five structural components of the application of general systems theory in the analysis of pedagogical activity are distinguished.
