Abstract

The participation of people with disabilities is a crucial issue in Indonesia that has emerged along with the development of the concept of social inclusion that encourages the involvement of people with disabilities in social life. Based on the 2015 SUPAS, the most people with disabilities in Indonesia are people who have a little difficulty seeing, which is 5.51%. Meanwhile, the least number of people with disabilities in Indonesia are residents who cannot hear at all, which is 0.09% (Central Bureau of Statistics, 2016). The problems faced by people with disabilities in Indonesia are varied, ranging from limited accessibility in public places, the opportunity to experience discrimination, and the lack of participation of people with disabilities in various activities, including empowerment activities. The Village Difabel Group (KDD) is present as a manifestation of social inclusion for disabled groups. KDD was initiated by SIGAB (Inclusion Center & Difabel Advocacy Movement) as a response to the lack of participation of people with disabilities in village activities. This paper describes the empowerment of people with disabilities by KDD Makmur Jati Mandiri in Jatirejo Village, Lendah District, Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The data in this study were collected and analyzed using qualitative research methods which were then analyzed using the concept of community empowerment. The empowerment of the disabled by KDD Makmur Jati Mandiri is in the form of providing motivation and skills training. The existence of KDD can encourage people with disabilities to participate in village level activities and organizations.

Abstract

The 2020-2024 RPJMN places stunting as a priority issue in health development. The 2019 Study on the Nutritional Status of Toddlers in Indonesia (SSGBI) which was integrated with the March 2019 Susenas showed that the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia in 2019 was still high, at 26.67%. One of the efforts taken by the government is to focus the Quality Family Village Program (KB) on the issue of stunting prevention. KB Villages can mobilize participation and synergy of various institutions in the community to play a role in preventing stunting. This paper discusses the role of the Sendangsari KB Village in empowering the community for stunting prevention. The data were collected and analyzed using qualitative research methods with an exploratory approach. The results of this study indicate that the prevention of stunting by the Sendangsari KB Village is carried out in two ways. First, implementing various stunting prevention activities, such as monitoring the growth of toddlers through health screening and supplementary feeding. Second, encourage collaboration across activity groups, such as BKB Kenanga, BKR Tunas Harapan, PIK-R Mekar Asri, UPPKA Mukti Migunani, KWT Dhuawar, Pokdakan Beliksari and Pokdakan Gondangsari, Posyandu Kenanga, and Posbindu Kenanga, so that they can play a role in stunting prevention. In addition, external actors from the local government, related agencies and academics also contribute to facilitating Sendangsari KB Village through various assistance and training to improve community skills.
