Abstract

Patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services is a feeling of pleasure after receiving services that meet their expectations. Satisfaction surveys are used as indicators of service quality assessment. This study aims to determine the level of satisfaction of BPJS outpatient patients with pharmaceutical services at the Outpatient Pharmacy Installation of the Bogor City Regional General Hospital in 2024. The study was an observational prospective study with a population of 11,393 patients and a sample of 99 respondents using the Slovin formula and accidental sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire, with data analysis using a Cartesian diagram. The results showed that of the 99 respondents, 89 patients (89.9%) were satisfied and 10 patients (10.1%) were dissatisfied with the pharmaceutical services. Based on the dimensions of tangibles (direct evidence), responsiveness, and assurance, all patients (100%) expressed satisfaction. In terms of reliability and empathy, most patients were also satisfied. Overall, the pharmacy services at the Bogor City Hospital were rated as very good by BPJS outpatients. Recommendations for the outpatient pharmacy at the Bogor City Hospital include providing certainty regarding the time for picking up medication.

Abstract

Hypertension has been widely known as a cardiovascular disease where people have above normal blood pressure. The disease is estimated to have caused a global increase in morbidity by 4.5%, and its prevalence is nearly as large as that in developed countries or in developing countries. The WHO estimates that around 1.13 billion people in the world suffer from hypertension, and this number is expected to increase annually to 1.5 billion people by 2025, with an estimated 10.44 million deaths from complications of hypertension and heart disease at a young age. To determine the level of adherence to taking antihypertensive drugs for patients with hypertension at the Mutiara Sehat Outpatient Primary Clinic (KPRJ), Cinere, Depok. This study uses a descriptive type of observation (Non-experimental) using a cross-sectional approach. Characteristics of female respondents (57%), age 45-54 (39.5%), last high school / vocational education (65.4%), and long suffering ≤ 5 years (74%). The adherence rate of taking medication for patients with hypertension at the Mutiara Sehat Outpatient Primary Clinic (KPRJ) in Depok is in the low category of 63%, the medium category of 27%, and the high category of 10%. The results showed that the adherence rate of taking medication for patients with hypertension was in the "low" category. The main reason for low patient adherence to antihypertensive medication is a lack of knowledge and understanding about their condition. Healthcare providers can address this by providing education and emphasizing the importance of taking medication exactly as prescribed by the doctor.

Abstract

Hypertension is still a health problem and is the main cause of death in developed and developing countries. According to data from (World Health Organization shows that around 1.13 billion people in the world experience hypertension. Treatment of hypertension with antihypertensive drugs is an important step to control blood pressure and prevent complications. However, patient compliance in taking antihypertensive medication is still a problem. The patient’s level of knowledge about hypertension and its treatment is one factor that can influence compliance with taking medication. Lack of knowledge often makes patients feel that they do not need to take medication regularly, especially if they do not experience symptoms. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of hypertensive patients and compliance with taking antihypertensive medication at the Herlina Cianjur Clinic. The research method is quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study consisted of all individuals with hypertension at the Herlina Cianjur Clinic. The sampling technique was carried out using non-probability sampling, and 76 samples were obtained. The data used is primary data distributed through knowledge level questionnaires and medication adherence questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using both univariate and bivariate methods, including the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between the level of knowledge and adherence to taking antihypertensive medication, with p-value = 0.604 (p > 0.05).

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, with a high incidence rate partly caused by poor patient adherence to anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT). This study aimed to determine the level of medication adherence among adult outpatients with pulmonary TB at Hermina General Hospital Depok in 2024. This research employed a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach conducted from August to October 2024. The sample consisted of 99 respondents selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire and analyzed descriptively based on frequency distribution and percentage of adherence levels. The results showed that 93% of respondents demonstrated high adherence, 7% had moderate adherence, and none showed low adherence. The high level of adherence was influenced by adequate health education, strong family support, and patients’ awareness of the importance of completing treatment. These findings also indicate the effectiveness of the Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) program implemented in private hospitals. In conclusion, most pulmonary TB patients at Hermina General Hospital, Depok, exhibited high adherence to OAT therapy, and continuous educational interventions are recommended to maintain treatment success and prevent drug resistance.

Abstract

BPJS Kesehatan continues to face financial challenges, partly influenced by noncompliance with the National Formulary (Fornas) in drug prescribing, which may lead to healthcare budget inefficiency. This study aimed to evaluate the conformity of chronic drug prescriptions among outpatient BPJS patients based on adherence to the National Formulary and Hospital Formulary and to identify diseases and medications not listed in the National Formulary at the Internal Medicine Clinic of Harapan Bunda General Hospital, East Jakarta, during October–December 2024. This study employed a non-experimental descriptive design with a retrospective approach using 100 chronic prescription sheets obtained through total sampling. Data were collected through prescription document review and analyzed descriptively using univariate analysis. The results showed that prescription conformity with the National Formulary was 87.14%, while conformity with the Hospital Formulary reached 100%. Hypertension was identified as the disease with the highest number of noncompliant prescriptions. The most frequently prescribed non-formulary drugs were disflatyl, braxidin, and urogetic, which are not considered first-line therapies for chronic diseases. This study concludes that noncompliance with the National Formulary in chronic drug prescribing among outpatient BPJS patients remains present and is influenced by patient clinical factors as well as physicians’ prescribing habits and individual considerations.

Abstract

Hypertension in pregnancy is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg according to the criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). This condition requires appropriate management to prevent complications in both the mother and the fetus. This study aimed to evaluate the appropriateness of antihypertensive drug use among pregnant women receiving outpatient care at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of RS Kartini Lebak. The study employed a descriptive non-experimental design with a quantitative approach. Data were collected retrospectively from the medical records of pregnant women diagnosed with hypertension who received antihypertensive therapy during the study period. A total of 29 patients who met the inclusion criteria were included in the analysis. The results showed that the majority of patients were aged 24–35 years (58.62%). Based on diagnosis, preeclampsia was the most common condition (41.38%), followed by chronic hypertension (37.93%) and gestational hypertension (20.69%). The most frequently prescribed antihypertensive therapy was nifedipine monotherapy (82.76%), while combination therapy with nifedipine and methyldopa was used in 17.24% of patients. Evaluation of drug use appropriateness demonstrated 97% appropriate indication, 97% appropriate drug selection, and 100% appropriate dosage.

Abstract

This narrative review evaluates the urgency of herbal and conventional medicine integration in Indonesia, which poses risks of adverse clinical interactions. The review reveals that these interactions involve complex mechanisms capable of reducing efficacy or triggering serious toxicities, such as rhabdomyolysis and bleeding risks. The primary challenge lies in low voluntary patient disclosure and a lack of product quality standardization. As a technical solution, this review asserts that structured pharmacy anamnesis is an effective proactive methodology for early risk detection. Through systematic medication history assessment and the utilization of digital information systems, pharmacists can precisely mitigate therapeutic failures. In conclusion, enhancing therapeutic communication through shared decision-making and interprofessional collaboration serves as the primary foundation for ensuring patient safety. This approach offers a practical framework for clinicians to manage medication complexity within a heterogeneous national healthcare system.

Abstract

Honey is a natural product used in therapy, but its quality is easily damaged by heat and poor storage. This study assessed HMF, moisture, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in five honey brands across Pasar Kemis pharmacies. Results show all samples meet SNI standards, with HMF levels at 17,25–42,92 mg/kg and moisture at 13.59–18.93%. However, HMF variations indicate different levels of freshness. Clinically, high HMF may trigger oxidative stress and liver damage, especially in diabetics or patients with liver dysfunction. Pharmacists must act as gatekeepers (quality guardians) to ensure product integrity. It is recommended that pharmacists conduct routine stock monitoring and educate consumers to avoid overheating honey.
