Abstract

Qur’anic education holds a central role in Islamic educational institutions, serving not only as a compulsory subject but also as a foundation for students’ religious understanding, spiritual awareness, and moral development. The UMMI Method has emerged as a structured approach that integrates tartil-based recitation, tajwid application, and student-centered repetition to enhance Qur’an reading skills. This study explores the implementation of the UMMI Method at Al Imam Islamic School Junior High in Bogor, focusing on teaching strategies, student engagement, and the method’s impact on students’ Qur’anic reading abilities. Using a qualitative field study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and document analysis. Findings reveal that the UMMI Method is applied systematically with daily structured sessions, grouping students by proficiency levels, and employing certified teachers to ensure consistent instruction. The method significantly improves students’ fluency, accurate articulation (makhraj), tajwid comprehension, and overall recitation quality. It also addresses common challenges such as motivation and material retention. In conclusion, the UMMI Method is an effective strategy for enhancing Qur’anic learning at the junior high level and offers valuable insights for Islamic educators aiming to improve the quality of religious education in formal school settings

Abstract

This study explores the role of Qur’an-Hadith teachers in improving students’ Qur’anic reading abilities at MI Al-Mustariyah Panongan, an Islamic elementary school. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through semi-structured interviews with selected teachers to understand their instructional strategies, challenges, and contributions to Qur’anic literacy. Findings reveal that teachers use student-centered methods such as iqra’ and talaqqi, combined with spiritual mentorship and motivational support, to help students overcome difficulties in recognizing Arabic letters, applying tajweed rules, and developing fluency and comprehension. The study also highlights the importance of a supportive learning environment fostered by positive teacher-student interactions, collaboration with parents and school leaders, and the use of interactive media. Continuous professional development is identified as essential for enhancing teaching effectiveness. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of integrated teaching practices that promote Qur’anic literacy in primary Islamic education, offering valuable insights for educators and institutions aiming to improve Qur’anic reading skills among young learners.

Abstract

Qur’anic education In the context of globalization and the demand for competitive human resources, education serves as a fundamental tool for fostering intellectual and moral development. Islamic education, particularly the teaching of Fiqh, plays a crucial role in shaping students' religious commitment and daily worship practices. This study aims to examine the influence of the teacher's role on students’ motivation to learn Fiqh at Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School. Grounded in the framework of Self-Determination Theory, the research explores how elements such as teacher encouragement, classroom engagement, and personal connection contribute to students’ intrinsic motivation. This research employs a quantitative, correlational method using an ex-post facto design. A sample of 30 students from five dormitories at Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School was selected. Data were collected through questionnaires and analysed using simple linear regression. The results reveal a statistically significant influence of the teacher’s role on students’ learning motivation, with an R value of 0.686 and R² of 0.470, indicating that 47% of the variance in student motivation is explained by the teacher's role. These findings affirm that the teacher is not merely a transmitter of knowledge, but a critical agent in fostering a motivational learning environment. Effective Fiqh teachers act as mentors and motivators, using praise, rewards, emotional support, and active guidance to cultivate religious awareness and student engagement. The study underscores the necessity of empowering teachers with strategies that fulfil students’ psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, thus enhancing their motivation to engage in religious learning meaningfully.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of producing innovative powtoon-based learning media to help implement the Merdeka Curriculum in Mathematics Lessons on SPLTV material which has a valid and practical category and has a potential effect, especially on students' mathematical problem solving skills. This research was conducted using the Research and Development (R&D) research procedure using the ADDIE model which has five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires, test questions and interviews. The research subjects were grade X students at MAN 2 Palembang. The results of this study indicate that the powtoon animation video developed has a valid category with a score of 3.9 from the Media Expert and 4.6 from the Material Expert. Meanwhile, the practicality questionnaire shows a score of 4.2 for the One-to-One trial which contains 3 students with different abilities, then 4.06 for the Small Group test which consists of 3 groups where each group contains 3 members who work together in solving problems, and finally 4.2 for the Field Test which consists of 1 class X.6 which contains 30 students. . While the potential effect on this powtoon animation video can be seen from the learning outcomes of students who show learning outcomes with an average of 81 which states that learning media provides a potential effect on very good learning outcomes. In addition, not only does it provide a potential effect on learning outcomes but new findings that learning animation videos are also able to increase student motivation and interest in exploring SPLTV material.

Abstract

This research aims to test the effectiveness of cognitive style on students' mathematics learning difficulties at the Jambi City Laboratory Madrasah Aliyah and obtain the results of an analysis of mathematics learning difficulties in terms of cognitive style. This research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted at the Madrasah Aliyah Laboratory in Jambi. The research subjects were 24 students in class XI Science 1 Madrasah Aliyah Laboratory Jambi City. Data collection techniques used the GEFT test (Group Embedded Figure Test), interviews, and observation. The results of this research are (1) Students with a field dependent cognitive style are 14 subjects out of 24 students who tend to have difficulty breaking down complex information into simpler parts and experience obstacles in determining problem solutions independently, (2) Students with a field independent cognitive style are 10 subjects out of 24 students who have better abilities in understanding, planning and solving problems compared to field dependent students. Apart from that, they also tend to think analytically until they get the right results. (3) The results of interviews with students indicate that students with a field independent cognitive style tend to be superior in identifying hidden patterns and solving problems based on visual analysis, while students with a field dependent cognitive style need more contextual learning strategies and clearer visualization assistance.
