Abstract

This study aims to determine the students' motivation to learn mathematics by applying the ARCS learning model. This type of research is quantitative research, with an experimental approach. The research design used in this study is the Randomized Control Group Design. The sample in this study was class VIIA as the experimental class and class VIIB as the control class. Based on initial observations, it was found that students' learning motivation was still relatively low. Efforts to overcome these problems can be through the use of learning models that are in accordance with the characteristics of students' problems in this case applying the ARCS learning model (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction). The results showed that the data on the percentage of students' learning motivation questionnaires for each aspect in the control class, for students' Attention conditions to learning mathematics was 51.51%, students' Relevance conditions were 49.31% and for Confidance. Students in learning mathematics is 50.22% while student satisfaction in learning mathematics is 51.36%, so that the average score is 50.77%. The data obtained on the percentage of students' learning motivation questionnaires for each aspect in the experimental class, for the condition of students' Attention to learning mathematics by 72.38%, students' Relevance conditions of 75.47% and for Confidance students in learning Mathematics is 79.52% while students' satisfaction in learning mathematics is 77.30%. The average score of the experimental class is 75.90%. It can be concluded that the ARCS learning model (Attention, Relevance, Confidance, Satisfaction) can affect the mathematics learning motivation of class VII students with a comparison of the average score of students' mathematics learning motivation in the experimental class which is higher than the average score in the control class, which is 75.90 % > 50.77%.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic impacts university learning, typically involving face-to-face instruction. This study investigated the implementation of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in anti-drug counseling courses and the factors that hindered and supported it. This type of research is descriptive and quantitative, with a sample of 67 students taking anti-drug counseling courses and using a questionnaire distributed online via Microsoft Form to collect the data. The data analysis used is a descriptive analysis by presenting the frequency distribution. The results showed that 75% of students agreed that online learning increased learning independence, 75% were interested in learning with learning media (video, PowerPoint presentation), 45% said students learning was well organized, and 48% stated lecturer-student interactions well. The provided learning model combines the use of the Google Classroom, Zoom meeting, and WhatsApp applications. The inhibiting factor in online learning is the internet signal that not all students can access adequately. Because many students are in areas where the possibility of internet signals is still limited, this existing obstacle causes students not to be able to follow the learning provided by the lecturer online fully. Factors supporting online learning are that the university facilitates wifi for lecturers and combines learning media synchronous and asynchronous.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how personal and social development of children with mental impairments. This research is a case study research using qualitative descriptive methods in the elaboration of research results. Then, the data analyzed in this study were sourced from journals, dissertations, and related scientific articles. Based on the research that has been carried out, the results show that there are several causes of emotional and behavioral disorders in children and several classifications such as psychiatric classification, classification according to DSM, and behavioristic classification. Abstract

This research is a class action research which conducted on students whose studying foreign languages such as English and Japanese. This research is descriptive qualitative research by using flash card vocabulary as a learning medium. The purpose of this study is to improve the students' ability to use the foreign language which they learn (English and Japanese). This study was carried out in two cycles, which is in every cycle have four meetings. Then, from the results of this research has been carried out, it is known that students' ability to speak using foreign languages before using the flash card vocabulary shows in below-average results, where only one student achieved a total score of 50 percent, and after using flashcard vocabulary learning media, the average showed that the ability to speak in foreign languages of all students increased by 70-80 percent. Abstract

Effectiveness in learning is certainly an important thing, but when viewed from the developments that exist in the world of education and also the role of educators that are increasingly changing today, it is very important to discuss the effectiveness and role of educators in the independent learning curriculum. Educators as drivers of independent learning, mean an educator who is required to be able to be active and enthusiastic, creative, innovative and skilled to become a facilitator of change drivers in schools. The purpose of writing this article is to discuss the effectiveness of learning and the role of the educators themselves, especially in the use of the independent learning curriculum as it is today. Then related to the data source used is a form of litelatur related to the theme, be it in the form of books, articles, journals, and other writing sources on the internet. The method used is a library research method by finding and collecting relevant sources, then filtering the sources that are most relevant to the theme to be studied or raised, then making conclusions and recording various important things, and then later implemented in writing form. Abstract

Pandemic COVID -19 brings many influences in our life, including educational system in Indonesia. The students experienced learning loss and learning gap during pandemic. Without any solution, the education in Indonesia can be left behind. Therefore, The Minister of Education and Culture revised the national curriculum. This curriculum will be used as recovery of educational crisis because of Pandemic. This curriculum is Kurikulum Merdeka or Independent Curriculum. This curriculum has not been fully implemented in nationwide until 2024. However, the preparation of this curriculum is on progress. The school can apply Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka or Implementation of Independent Curriculum. This aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation of this curriculum through analysing related document such educational system law, regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture, article, and journal. Based on analysis, the result showed that implementation of new curriculum has both challenges and positive impact. The main challenge is related to the readiness of the teacher while the main positive impact is there is improvement in terms of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creative thinking of the students. The result of this study can be used as consideration in formulating educational policy, reflection for the teachers, principal and other stakeholders

Abstract

Mathematics learning motivation and students' capacity for problem-solving are still below expectations. The majority of students have difficulty with mathematical issues that are presented as word problems and non-routine problems. This study sought to ascertain whether the Problem Based Learning model enhanced students' capacity for problem-solving and learning motivation. This research was a classroom action research (CAR). This CAR focused on the students of SMP N 8 Banda Aceh's capacity for problem solving. Researchers in this study applied the Problem Based Learning model to all of the learning tasks from cycle 1 to cycle The result showed that The learning outcomes of students studying fractions in have improved using Problem Based Learning Model.

Abstract

Mathematical communication is an important part of mathematics learning. It is important for learners to communicate mathematical problems appropriately so that students can solve these problems. In communicating mathematical problems, students face them with different responses. Students' mathematical communication skills vary due to many factors that affect them, one of these factors is learning style.This study is of a descriptive-qualitative type and aims to describe the mathematical communication of students who have an auditorial learning style in solving rectangular problems. The instruments used consisted of learning style questionnaires adapted from the VAK Learning Styles Self-Assessment Questionnaire, problem solving tests, and interview guidelines. Tests and interviews are conducted for students who have auditory learning styles. Research data were obtained from the results of written tests and interviews that were analyzed based on visual, written, and oral mathematical communication indicators. The results of the study include, (1) SA cannot write a description on the picture in full, (2) SA is able to understand the problem by writing down the information contained in the problem and is able to solve the problem appropriately, but does not write down the formula used, (3) During the interview process SA is able to reveal images according to the problem given and is able to explain verbally the mathematical ideas used in solving the problem.

Abstract

Learning difficulties are also faced by mental retardation students who attend educational programs in special schools. Although learning has been adjusted to the abilities of students using a special education curriculum, taught by teachers who have a special educational background, and grouped according to specificity. Students still have difficulties, one of which is students with a specificity of mental retardation. So it is necessary to know what difficulties are faced by students with mental retardation so that these difficulties can be overcome. This study is descriptive qualitative and aims to describe the learning difficulties faced by students with mental retardation in solving the problem of original number counting operations. As for the learning difficulties studied based on Lerner's theory, namely: (1) lack of understanding of symbols, (2) place values, (3) calculations, (4) incorrect use of processes, and (5) illegible writing. The instruments used consist of written test results and interview guidelines. The research subject selection technique used is purposive sampling. Research data obtained from the results of written tests and interviews analyzed based on learning difficulty indicators. The results of the study include, (1) STr cannot determine the value of the place correctly, and does not know the concept of place value. (2) STr has difficulty in summing the position of place values in a number symbol, associating place values with number symbols, and writing the results of addition and multiplication do not correspond to place values. (3) STr has difficulty in summation operations with the technique of storing and writing numbers in summation operations with a downward arrangement that does not pay attention to the value of the place. (4) STr has difficulty in calculating the multiplication problem because it tries to memorize the multiplication

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe teacher problems in conducting classroom action research (CAR). Another purpose of this research is to describe the teachers understanding of classroom action research in some chosen High School in Muaro Jambi. The type of this research is qualitative research and the subject of this research are teachers of the chosen High School in Muaro Jambi. The method used in this research through in-depth interviews. The result showed that the factors causing difficulties in conducting CAR were that the teachers had difficulty in dividing the teaching time with CAR activities, the teachers had difficulty putting in structured descriptions, the teachers had difficulty diagnosing problems that occurred in the classroom, the teachers had difficult to understand the research method, examined theories and bibliography, and teachers have difficulty in carrying out cycles in CAR. The teachers understanding of CAR has been quite well marked by the enthusiasm of the teacher in conducting CAR and the teachers understand that CAR can lift ranks and support the professionalism of the teachers. The effort made by the school to improve CAR by holding CAR training, seminars, group discussion and provide funding for CAR.
