Abstract

The background of the problem in this study stems from the fact that although there is awareness about the importance of nutrition in sports, many athletes still lack understanding of basic nutrition principles and how to apply them in daily life. This research aimed to assess the level of nutritional knowledge among Taekwondo athletes at Dojang GTC in Semarang City. This study employed a quantitative descriptive research design aimed at measuring the level of nutritional knowledge among Taekwondo athletes at Dojang GTC in Semarang City. The findings showed that most athletes possessed moderate to good understanding of basic sports nutrition concepts, such as the role of macronutrients, the importance of hydration, and recovery after training. However, a significant proportion of athletes still demonstrated low levels of nutritional knowledge. This highlights the need for structured and continuous nutrition education. Such education is essential not only to raise awareness about the role of nutrition in performance and recovery but also as a preventive measure against fatigue, injury, and reduced physical endurance. This knowledge gap also reflects the limited access to valid nutritional information and the minimal involvement of professional nutritionists in the coaching process at the dojang level. Therefore, interventions in the form of training, counseling, or guided meal planning are urgently needed to ensure that all athletes are equipped with adequate knowledge to support their athletic performance optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of dribbling training on the technical abilities of soccer players. This study uses the PRISMA standard in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The articles reviewed were publications between 2020 and 2024. The search process used the keywords "Dribbling", "Football", and "Technical Performance". From the database search, 103 articles were found. After being adjusted to the inclusion criteria, 10 articles were selected for further analysis. Training techniques, physical agility, and eye-to-toe coordination affect the dribbling ability of a footballer. To improve dribbling speed and effectiveness, athletes need good physical strength and motor skills. In one-on-one situations, dribbling possession is essential as a technical-tactical strategy to create goal opportunities and dismantle the opponent's defense.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of squat jump and knee tuck jump exercises on leg muscle explosive power in male volleyball extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 3 Pati. The research employed a quantitative method with a pre-test and post-test experimental design. The sample consisted of 14 male students selected using total sampling technique. The subjects were divided into two groups: the experimental group I received squat jump training, while the experimental group II received knee tuck jump training. Each group underwent 14 training sessions. The instrument used to measure leg muscle explosive power was the vertical jump test. Prior to data analysis, normality and homogeneity tests were conducted, followed by hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the average pre-test and post-test scores in experimental group I were 236.57 and 286.00, respectively, while in experimental group II they were 244.71 and 289.14, respectively. The t-test results indicated that the calculated t-value of 0.733 was lower than the t-table value of 2.179 with a significance value (p) of 0.478 (p > 0.05), thus the null hypothesis (H₀) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the improvement of vertical jump performance between students who underwent squat jump training and those who underwent knee tuck jump training.

Abstract

Adaptive physical education is an essential component in developing the motor skills of children with special needs, including deaf students who experience limitations in understanding verbal instructions. Deaf children possess psychomotor potential comparable to that of typical children but require special teaching approaches. This study aims to describe the efforts of physical education teachers in enhancing the psychomotor abilities of deaf students at SLB N Tegal City. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that teachers apply demonstrative, visual, and non-verbal communication approaches, along with learning strategies based on educational games and motor skill repetition. The challenges faced by teachers include limited two-way communication, inadequate facilities, variations in student concentration, and a lack of specialized training. This study concludes that communicative, adaptive, and visual-based approaches are crucial in supporting the psychomotor development of deaf students. Teacher training and appropriate facilities are key to the success of physical education in special schools.

Abstract

Optimal body hydration is essential in supporting physical performance and training effectiveness, especially in sports such as pencak silat, which demand strength, agility, and endurance. Fluid imbalance, or dehydration, can impair muscle function, accelerate fatigue, and hinder the body's ability to adapt to training loads. This issue is often overlooked, particularly among young athletes who may lack awareness of proper hydration practices. This study aims to examine the effect of dehydration level on the training volume of pencak silat athletes enrolled in the Special Sports Class (KKO) in Semarang City. Dehydration was assessed by observing urine color using a standard hydration scale, while training volume was measured through heart rate calculations based on the Karvonen formula. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression and Pearson correlation. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between dehydration level and training volume. Higher dehydration levels were associated with lower training volume among athletes. These findings emphasize the importance of hydration monitoring in youth athlete training systems to ensure effective performance development and reduce the risk of fatigue or injury.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the performance development process in handball extracurricular activities at the junior high school level, specifically at SMP Negeri 1 Juwana, Pati Regency. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation studies involving coaches and the school principal. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model to explore the dynamics of coaching comprehensively. The study population includes all individuals directly involved in the handball extracurricular program, such as coaches, students/athletes, extracurricular coordinators or physical education teachers, and the school principal. The findings reveal that the coaching activities are being carried out, though the quality and intensity vary. Most of the training still focuses on mastering basic techniques. Student enthusiasm and coach dedication emerge as key supporting factors in the process. Nevertheless, the study also identifies several significant challenges, including limited facilities and infrastructure, insufficient time and funding allocation, and a lack of local competitions. These factors hinder the full realization of students’ performance potential. Despite these obstacles, the coaching program contributes positively to students' character development. As a follow-up, the study recommends improvements in facilities, increased training hours, enhanced coach competencies, stronger collaboration with stakeholders, and greater financial support.

Abstract

The reduction of physical activity among children continues to be a major concern globally, including in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze physical literacy in upper-grade elementary students (V and VI) from SD Negeri Cepoko and SD Negeri Sadeng 01, Semarang City, employing a descriptive quantitative survey method. The study employed a total sampling method, involving 89 participants. Physical literacy was assessed across three domains: physical competence (measured through TIAMSA, PACER, and Sit-Up tests), motivation and self-confidence, as well as knowledge and understanding. The results revealed that most students were classified as progressing, with only a quarter reaching the achieving category. At SD Negeri Cepoko, all students were categorized as progressing, whereas in SD Negeri Sadeng 01, a number of students particularly male students in grade V and female students in grade VI reached the achieving level. These results highlight disparities in physical literacy outcomes between schools and student groups. Hence, improvements in PJOK learning strategies, teacher development, and supportive learning environments are required to encourage sustainable participation in physical activity.
