Abstract

In the process of learning Chinese, the inadequate tone and intonation are the main reasons for the phenomenon of "Western accent and tone". The author hopes to use the intonation pattern research approach and experimental phonetic research methods adopted in this article to identify the prosodic features of Indonesian non Chinese learners' acquisition of Chinese declarative sentence intonation, as well as the similarities and differences between the performance of various parameters of Indonesian non Chinese learners' declarative intonation and that of native Chinese speakers. This article adopts the research approach of intonation pattern and uses quantitative analysis methods such as fluctuation, pause delay rate, and volume ratio to examine the intonation of Chinese declarative sentences of Indonesian non Chinese learners (NURUL JADID SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL). Conclusion: Non Chinese Indonesian learners have a smaller overall fluctuation in acquiring Chinese declarative sentences compared to native Chinese speakers. There is a significant increase in sound length before the word boundary at the beginning and end of the sentence, and a noticeable decrease in sound intensity and volume at the end of the sentence.

Abstract

One of the language skills used for communication purposes is speaking skills. In Mandarin, speaking skills are skills to express ideas or ideas that involve pronunciation and require proper intonation. As technology advances, learning Mandarin using applications is very helpful because of the ease of access and increasing enthusiasm for learning. For example, the Super Chinese application utilizes AI technology in materials and practice questions. Applications that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) technology are expected to support the learning process, especially learning Mandarin. This study was conducted with the aim of describing the level of students' speaking skills and determining the effectiveness of AI-based applications, one of which is the Super Chinese application. This study uses a quantitative correlational method with a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design. The instrument used is a test instrument in the form of pretest and posttest questions. The data source used was class XI IBB SMA Laboratorium UM, totaling 24 students. Data were obtained from the average results of students' pretest and posttest scores. The data analysis techniques used were paired sample t-test, n-gain test, and pearson correlation test. The results of this study indicate that the Super Chinese application is effective in training the Mandarin speaking skills of class XI IBB students at SMA Laboratorium UM.

Abstract

This research explores the challenges Indonesian learners face in acquiring Chinese "momentum words," such as “场, 遍, 番, 顿, 下, 趟, 回, 阵, 通, 次,” due to the one-to-many correspondence between Chinese momentum words and Indonesian quantifiers, along with different verb-matching rules. Momentum words refer to specific quantifiers in Chinese that pair with verbs to indicate frequency, duration, or repetition. The study investigates these issues through a questionnaire survey and error analysis to identify common mistakes and their causes. Findings show that learners frequently make errors such as misordering, misubstitution, and omission, primarily due to negative transfer from Indonesian. To address these issues, the paper suggests teaching strategies that gradually increase in complexity and emphasize comparing Chinese and Indonesian quantifiers. The research highlights the importance of understanding the matching rules for verbs and momentum words and cultivating effective learning strategies for Indonesian students.
