Jurnal Cermatika means pedagogy or the science of learning, so Jurnal Cermatika is defined as mathematics learning. The presence of mathematics journals is expected to increase the publications in the field of mathematics learning in order to discuss mathematics issues such as students’ perception of mathematics as a difficult subject. Jurnal Cermatika is a periodical academic journal that is published by the Fakultas Keguruan Dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Graha Nusantara. This Journal is published twice a year (April and October).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the magnitude of the increase in students' mathematics learning outcomes through the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model for learning mathematics with Single Variable Linear Equation System material in class VII Ponpes Salapiah Gunung Silayang-Layang for the academic year 2020-2021. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of 2 cycles. The subjects in this study were Class VII students at Ponpes Salapiah Gunung Silayang Layang Padangsidimpuan, on the material of linear equations of one variable. While the object of this research was the application of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) Learning Model to the learning outcomes of mathematics at Ponpes Salapiah Gunung Silayang Layang Padangsidimpuan, on one variable linear equation material. The results showed that the ability of student learning outcomes in learning mathematics through the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model of class VII-2 Islamic boarding school Salapiah Gunung Silayang-Layang in the One Variable Linear Equation material for the 2020/2021 school year increased by 71.85 with the category " Enough” in the first cycle, then increased to 88.55 with the “Good” category in the second cycle. The results obtained in the second cycle indicate that the expected category has been fulfilled, with an average score of 75 and classical completeness 75% of students obtaining a minimum score of Good.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the influence of the blended learning model on the creative thinking ability of students on the subject of straight-line equations in class VIII of Private Junior High School, Padangsidimpuan Campus. This type of research is an experimental research designed in a one group pretest posttest design model. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of the Padangsidimpuan Private Junior High School, as many as 136 students consisting of 4 classes. The sample is part of the population that is considered to represent the population to be used as a source of data or information in a study. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling where each class has the same opportunity to become the research sample. The class that became the sample was class VIII-3, which consisted of 33 students. The results showed that students' mathematics learning outcomes using the blended learning model were higher with an average of 74.09 than students' mathematics learning outcomes using direct or face-to-face learning models with an average of 66.36. Based on the results of hypothesis testing at a significance level of 5% using Minitab software, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the blended learning learning model on the creative thinking ability of students on the subject of straight line equations in class VIII of Private Junior High School, Padangsidimpuan Campus.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the great improvement of students' creative thinking skills through the Recitation Plus Snowball Throwing learning model of material mathematics Learning Form and Operation of Fractional Numbers in grades VII-2 MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan Year 2020/2021. This type of research is Class Action Research (PTK) consisting of 2 Cycles. The subject of the study was class VII-2 of 20 people. Women as many as 10 men and 10 men. The object taken in this study is the use of the Recitation Plus Snowball Throwing learning model in an effort to improve students' creative mathematical thinking skills on the subject of Fractional Number Form and Operation. The results showed that the results of the student's creative thinking skills test by applying the Recitation Plus Snowball Throwing learning model with a minimum assessment criteria of "Sufficient" in cycle I obtained a percentage of 70% and in cycle II there was an increase to 85%. Based on the observation results of student activity in cycle I, student activity was obtained by 62.63% with category "Less" and in cycle II there was an increase in student activity to 83.13% with the category "Good". As for the observation of teacher ability in cycle I obtained an average score of 2.8 with the category "Good Enough" and in cycle II increased to get an average score of 3.4 with the category "Good".

Abstract

SMP as the subject of this research is based on the consideration that the cognitive level is still in the transitional stage from concrete to formal operations so that it is suitable for the implementation of PMR. This study aims to 1) determine the effect of implementing PMR learning on improving students' mathematical communication skills, and 2) knowing student responses during the process of implementing PMR learning. This research is a quasi-experimental research. The design used in this study was a pretest posttest control group design. In this design, there are two groups selected randomly, then given a pretest to determine the extent to which students are ready to receive learning, while the posttest is used to measure students' mathematical communication skills after being given treatment. The research instrument used tests and non-tests. The test used is a test of students' mathematical communication skills in the form of description questions, while the non-test used is a student response questionnaire. Before the test was used, the Expert test and Instrument Trial were conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan. The results showed that there was an effect of the application of PMR on the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills. The increase in the mathematical communication ability of the experimental class was 0.63 in the medium category and the control class was 0.24 in the low category. The results of the calculation of student responses to PMR components and activities are 95.55%, this shows a positive student response because the average percentage is > 80%. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that the application of PMR can be used as an alternative for mathematics teachers to be developed as an effective learning strategy so that mathematics communication skills and student responses are better.

Abstract

Basically, the use of E-learning in mathematics education is broad, both as a medium of learning in the classroom and as a medium for independent learning. Utilization of E-Learning will improve learning outcomes indirectly. Thus, it is hoped that the internet speed available on the campus, especially the Graha Nusantara University (UGN) Padangsidimpuan, is very good so that the implementation of self-learning based on E-Learning can run smoothly. In addition, all training is needed in the context of socializing the development of E-Learning learning methods so that students have effective thinking patterns and accept E-Learning as an alternative learning and evaluation in teaching and learning.
