Abstract

Biotechnology is increasingly central to global innovation, with progress depending on effective collaboration between universities, industry, and policy frameworks. This study aims to examine institutional and policy drivers of university–industry collaboration (UIC) in biotechnology and identify models that accelerate commercialization and sustainable growth. Using qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) on four cases—SynbiCITE (UK), Bio Innovation Hub (Australia), Panjab University (India), and Oxford Science Enterprises (UK)—data were drawn from reports, policy documents, and innovation databases (WIPO, OECD, GEM). Results show that hybrid governance, flexible funding, transparent intellectual property (IP) frameworks, and targeted policy incentives shorten commercialization timelines, raise start-up survival above 65%, and boost joint patenting activity. University-linked venture capital provides patient capital and mentorship, while mission-driven R&D policies and balanced IP reforms enhance national alignment and innovation outputs. These findings suggest that integrated governance and policy strategies can foster competitive biotechnology ecosystems, and for emerging economies, adapting such models to local contexts offers pathways to accelerated innovation and long-term societal benefits.

Abstract

This study investigates how the quality of innovation roadmaps, moderated by organizational AI readiness and strategic maturity, shapes competitive advantage. Unlike prior studies that focus on either digital maturity or AI adoption alone, this research emphasizes the structural integrity of roadmaps clarity, adaptability, and alignment as a distinct driver of innovation performance in rapidly evolving technological environments. Methodologically, the study applies a conceptual–empirical design using 2023–2024 industry benchmarks and sector-neutral indicators. Anchored in the Dynamic Capabilities Theory and Resource-Based View, it hypothesizes that high-quality roadmaps, when mediated by AI readiness, accelerate time-to-market and enhance return on investment (ROI). Findings indicate that organizations employing digitally supported, high-quality roadmaps achieve up to 30% higher project success rates and 25% faster innovation cycles. Yet, these benefits are conditional realized only where infrastructure maturity, inclusive governance, and supportive policy frameworks exist. Persistent barriers, including organizational resistance, fragmented data systems, and regulatory complexity, constrain the broader realization of these outcomes. The study concludes that strategic roadmapping is most effective when framed as a systemic integration of tools, people, and policies. Its primary contribution is a scalable framework that aligns innovation planning with digital capability, offering firms both agility and resilience to sustain competitive advantage in volatile markets.

Abstract

The shift to remote work following the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated reliance on digital collaboration tools, fundamentally transforming organizational practices. This study conducts a narrative review to examine how such tools support productivity, communication, and innovation within distributed teams. Literature was systematically gathered from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, using targeted keywords and inclusion criteria to capture peer-reviewed research from the past five years. The synthesis integrates quantitative and qualitative evidence across sectors and regions, emphasizing both technological and human dimensions of remote collaboration. Results indicate that platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Zoom enhance efficiency and foster innovation, with studies reporting measurable productivity gains in teams adopting these tools. Emotional intelligence and transformational leadership emerge as critical in sustaining team cohesion and mitigating stress in virtual environments. Global comparisons reveal disparities, with advanced economies benefiting from stronger infrastructure and supportive policies, while developing countries face heightened challenges due to limited access and cultural constraints. Discussion highlights systemic factors, including policy frameworks, organizational culture, and digital infrastructure, as determinants of success. The review concludes by recommending policy support for infrastructure development, continuous digital training, and leadership practices grounded in emotional intelligence. These strategies are essential to addressing current limitations and ensuring sustainable remote collaboration. The study identifies opportunities for future research on cross-cultural dynamics, long-term outcomes, and organizational-level innovation.

Abstract

This study investigates how data-driven marketing practices influence return on investment (ROI), focusing on the organizational enablers that shape their effectiveness. While the rapid growth of big data and analytics offers firms new opportunities, many struggle to translate these resources into measurable financial outcomes. This research addresses this gap by examining how leadership orientation, cultural readiness, and business intelligence (BI) maturity enhance the effectiveness of data-driven strategies in improving ROI.  Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combines survey data with illustrative case studies to uncover how firms align data strategies with performance outcomes. Case evidence, such as Hugo Boss’s €15 million investment in data infrastructure, is used to complement the quantitative results and illustrate practical relevance.  Findings show that predictive analytics and self-service BI can substantially increase ROI compared to traditional marketing methods. Their effectiveness is strengthened when supported by transformational leadership, a strong data culture, and organizational learning. Moreover, firms with mature BI systems demonstrate greater agility in responding to market changes, while competitive industry conditions further amplify the benefits of data-driven strategies. This study contributes a comprehensive model linking data strategies, organizational enablers, and financial performance. It offers practical insights for managers seeking to maximize the value of analytics investments through strategic alignment, cultural transformation, and committed leadershi.

Abstract

This study examines the role of knowledge management (KM) in enabling open innovation (OI) networks. The review synthesizes existing literature and analyzes the systemic barriers that constrain effective KM practices. A systematic narrative review methodology was adopted, drawing on peer-reviewed studies from databases including Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and PubMed. Keywords such as “knowledge management,” “open innovation,” “digital platforms,” and “communities of practice” guided the literature search. The findings reveal three dominant themes: the integration of digital technologies to facilitate knowledge sharing, the establishment of collaborative environments through Communities of Practice, and the importance of organizational adaptability in dynamic contexts. Organizational, technological, and cultural factors strongly influence KM effectiveness, with significant variation across regional contexts. Developed economies benefit from robust infrastructures, while developing regions face resource constraints that limit participation in innovation networks. Comparative insights highlight best practices such as corporate accelerators, digital collaboration platforms, and multicultural leadership training. This review concludes that advancing KM in open innovation requires investments in digital infrastructure, inclusive leadership, and collaborative frameworks
