Abstract

The church as a worship building is designed in such a way as to be able to fulfill its duties as a building, technical requirements, and forms. Shapes as objects that are seen physically are designed and used to make sense of many things. The next form appears as a text or sign that relates the shape to the meaning. Space as well as form as a whole is a representation of the message conveyed to the public. The Church of St. Mary of the Angel was designed with meaningful signs of religiosity, both as icons, indexes, and symbols starting from the design of the site space to the interior details. On the other hand, the visual signs on the Indonesian Evangelical Church of Setrasari are not shown much, even from its location on the 2nd floor Giant Supermarket on the 1st floor very opposite. This research is important to do to see the relation of object markings in real physical worship buildings and the meaning they represent with other worship buildings with meanings born of non-physical or factual signs. The method in this study uses a comparative qualitative method at the study stage and ethnographic semiotics method at the analysis stage, namely through behavior patterns and in-depth interviews. Physical markings on the Church of St. Mary of the Angel can be read from the site's achievement space to its interior detail. On the other hand, the visual signs on the Indonesian Evangelical Church of Setrasari are not shown much, even its location on the second floor of Setrasari Mall with Giant Supermarket on the first floor is highly irrelevant. Starting from the space of achievement of the site to the form of interior detail does not explain much the relationship of space, form, and meaning. The absence of visual symbolic signs does not mean loss of meaning representation. The value of religiosity was born in cyberspace, presented more through audiovisuals such as the delivery of sermons, congregational praise, choirs, PowerPoint presentations, panel presentations, video clips, musical plays that are live shows rather than visual signs of physical form and space.

Abstract

Gatotkaca is one of the famous heroes in Indonesian pop culture originating from the Mahabharata Indian literary work. In Indonesia, Gatotkaca is widely displayed in puppet shows. In modern times, Gatotkaca has been widely adopted into advertisements, comic books, caricatures, and recently into an online game called Mobile Legends Bang Bang. In Indonesia, Mobile Legends Bang Bang has the largest number of players compared to the number of players from other parts of the world. In the development of the game, Mobile Legends makes the hero was taken from Indonesia, Gatotkaca, into their list of heroes that can be chosen by players. The developer of this game hopes that this character can represent players from Indonesia and add to the appeal of this game. The initial assumption of this research is that the generation of players aged 15-30 years possibly does not recognize the Indonesian characteristics in the character visualization developed by Monsoon since this company is a global company that is not from Indonesia. This study aims to explore the extent to which young Indonesian players can recognize the Gatotkaca character in the Mobile Legends game and find out what myths Monsoon wants to build through the Gatotkaca character, which makes Indonesian players interested in playing it. Researchers use questionnaires and focus group discussions in gathering the necessary information. The results from the respondents and FGD then triangulated with Barthes's semiotics to compare data. The mythical representation found is that the character of Gatotkaca is the only male hero representing Indonesia who has the power of a god, very masculine and unfriendly, but has the majesty of a king. Respondents can identify Gatotkaca as characters from Indonesia based on visual costumes, but not all visual aspects of Gatotkaca represent Indonesia. In addition, there are misperceptions by generations of players from 15-30 years of the Indonesian identity. The existence of Gatotkaca characters does not affect their character selection when playing Mobile Legends.

Abstract

The current industrial revolution 4.0 has a significant impact on the profession of Visual Communication Designers, this is indicated by a large number of expertise in the field of DKV (Desain Komunikasi Visual in Indonesian) needed by various types of businesses along with the development of digital media technology. Jobs that can be entered by majors are also very diverse. This development in the DKV industry needs to be addressed by reviewing the number of graduates with suitable employment and how many graduates work in the appropriate field. Through this research, the relevance of graduates and the world of work will be examined as well as conducting an in-depth study of what specific skills must be possessed by DKV Maranatha graduates to be ready to enter the workforce. The method used in this research is a descriptive analysis method of survey type and case studies on students who graduated in 2016 and 2017. Through this study will also obtain an overview of the waiting time of graduates and the number of graduates working in the appropriate fields. This research will be able to complete the tracer study data and information for DKV Maranatha Program in developing and evaluating the curriculum.

Abstract

The potential strength of traditional West Java batik crafts has grown and developed in 27 regencies/cities spread from the eastern part of the Cirebon district to the western end of West Java, Depok Municipality. The diversity of styles and variations of traditional batik in West Java is a source of strength that is not shared by other provinces. This research uses an empirical juridical approach method or a legislative approach to recognize the regulations that are already running in the community as well as descriptive-analytical research specifications using primary data and secondary data. The superiority of West Java batik has been proven to color the treasury of Indonesian batik along with other traditional batiks. Government support, in this case, the Governor of West Java Province through regulations and Governor's Decree is expected to increase the productivity and glory of traditional West Java batik related to economic potential and as a form of support for the West Java Regional Government in the Regional Cultural Advancement program that has been stipulated in Law No . 5 of 2007.
