This study aims to examine the importance of adaptive leadership in facing business dynamics, the key characteristics required of adaptive leaders, implementation strategies, and the challenges involved. A descriptive qualitative method was used through a literature review approach. The results indicate that adaptive leaders must possess a clear vision, flexibility, strong communication skills, and the courage to make decisions amid uncertainty. Key strategies include training programs, encouraging innovation, and fostering team involvement. The main challenges are resistance to change and limited resources. In conclusion, adaptive leadership is not only a competitive advantage but also a necessity in addressing the challenges of the digital business landscape.

Abstract

Tourism is important for the growth and development of any economy, either national or regional; thus, it is essential to pay attention to the factors that motivate tourist demand for a destination. In the Niger Delta, policies on tourism are not well articulated, and one of the consequences of this is that the recreational needs of both local and foreign tourists are not adequately met. In light of the foregoing, this study sought to investigate tourism features deficiencies and the tourist level of demand for the destination in the Niger Delta, Nigeria. The Service Quality Theory (SQT) was the theoretical framework that guided the study. Twelve tourist destinations were chosen from six states that comprise south-south Niger Delta, including Ossosso and Igarra tourist destinations in Edo State, Rivotel hotel and Gordon Resort hotel in Delta State, Ox-Bow lake and Peace Park tourist destinations in Bayelsa State, Port Harcourt Zoo and Pleasure Park in Rivers State. Ibeno Beach and Garden Hotel Resort in Akwa-Ibom state, as well as the National Museum and Tinapa tourist destination in Cross River State. A total of 950 respondents across the 12 tourist destinations constituted the sample size for this study, and primary data through the use of well-structured questionnaires were extracted from these respondents. The Crumbach Alpha method was used to measure the validity of the instrument, and result shows a strong positive reliability of the instrument. The data was analyzed first by using descriptive statistics, while the multiple Regression technique was used to test the study hypothesis. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant difference among tourist destinations in their deficiency of tourism features. The findings also revealed that features which were lacking in tourist destinations but needed urgent provisions are a variety of affordable food and drinks, horse and donkey riding, a standard zoo and museum, and affordable and comfortable accommodation. Others include: student hostels, picnics, attractions and medical facilities. In light of these findings, the study recommended, among others, that tourist facilities, considered lacking, should be adequately provided and tailored to cater for the diverse needs of tourists in destination centers in the Niger Delta.

Abstract

China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has emerged as a transformative global infrastructure and development project since its launch in 2013. Beyond its economic scope, the initiative is increasingly framed as a strategic vehicle of China’s soft power. However, the reception and interpretation of the BRI vary across regions, influenced by political, economic, and social conditions. This paper investigates the contextual factors shaping perceptions of the BRI in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, using a discursive analytical approach. Findings highlight the importance of local political legitimacy, economic sustainability, and social narratives in mediating China’s influence and underscore the conditional nature of soft power.

Abstract

The Trump administration introduced a notable transformation in the United States' foreign and economic policy, primarily through assertive trade measures that heightened global economic tensions. This study explored the extent to which the administration’s trade confrontations, particularly with China, contributed to growing geopolitical instability and posed challenges to maintaining international peace. It focused on the effects of protectionist economic strategies on global diplomatic relations and examined their broader implications for long-term stability. Utilizing a historical research approach, it draws on a range of primary and secondary materials, such as political speeches, trade documents, policy records, and academic literature. This study adopted the Realist Theory of International Relations as its guiding framework, emphasizing how Trump’s economic policies were driven by national self-interest and the pursuit of power within the global system. The study found that policies such as the imposition of unilateral tariffs, the retreat from multilateral trade agreements, and the use of combative rhetoric weakened alliances, disrupted international trade networks, and heightened diplomatic tensions, particularly with China. These developments undermined global cooperative systems and eroded mechanisms intended to address economic disputes peacefully. The study concluded that although the policies were designed to protect American economic interests, they unintentionally fueled international discord and threatened global peace efforts. It recommends, among others, that the United States should renew its commitment to multilateral trade systems, including active participation in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and reengagement with regional trade agreements such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Such engagement would reinforce the rules-based global trading system, restore trust with international partners, and foster collaborative economic development rooted in shared norms.

Abstract

Public trust is a fundamental element in the implementation of democratic elections. The General Elections Commission (KPU), as the election organizing body, plays a strategic role in building and maintaining public trust, one of which is through effective public communication strategies. This study aims to analyze public acceptance of the communication strategies implemented by the Madiun City KPU in the 2024 Elections, and how these strategies contribute to building public trust. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with voters, community leaders, and the Madiun City KPU, supported by observation and analysis of official KPU documents. The results show that the Madiun City KPU's communication strategies were implemented through various channels, both conventional and digital, such as face-to-face outreach, social media, and collaboration with local stakeholders. In general, these strategies were positively received by the public, particularly in increasing understanding of election stages and voter rights and obligations. However, this study also identified challenges, such as limited information reach for certain groups and differences in the level of political literacy of the community. In conclusion, the Madiun City General Elections Commission (KPU)'s communication strategy played a crucial role in building public trust in the 2024 election process, although further strengthening of inclusiveness and sustainability is still needed. This research is expected to contribute to the development of communication strategies for election organizers at the local level.
