Abstract

This paper is concerned with the problem of estimating the error rate in two-group discriminant analysis. Here, behaviour of 19 existing error rate estimators are compared and contrasted by mean of Monte Carlo simulations under the ideal condition that both parent populations are multivariate normal with common covariance matrix. The criterion used for comparing those error rate estimators is sum squared error (SSE). Five experimental factors are considered for the simulation, they are the number of variables, the sample size relative to the number of variables, the Mahalanobis squared distance between the two populations, dependency factor among variables, and the degree of variation among the elements of the mean vector of the populations. The result of the simulation shows that there is no estimator performing the best for all situations. However, on overall, the Finite Mixture Balanced bootstrap estimator (FMB) proposed by Mangku (2007) is the best estimator.

Abstract

This paper studies the optimal tracking error control problem on an inverted pendulum model. We characterize the optimal tracking error in term of pendulum’s parameters. Particularly, we derive the closed form expression for the pendulum length which gives minimum error. It is shown that the minimum error can always be accomplished as long as the ratio between the mass of the pendulum and that of the cart satisfies a certain constancy, regardless the type of material we use for the pendulum.

Abstract

Masalah transportasi merupakan suatu hal yang umum terjadi pada masyarakat, sehingga dibutuhkan suatu cara atau metode untuk menyelesaikan masalah transportasi terutama dalam hal meminimumkan biaya. Digunakan metode Heuristic dengan bantuan software ILOG Dispatcher versi 2.1 dan ILOG Solver versi 4.4 yang dijalankan dengan Microsoft Visual C++ versi 6.0 dalam membuat program penyelesaiannya. Dalam representasi masalah digunakan contoh distribusi barang dari suatu perusahaan. Dalam penerapannya diperhitungkan pula time windows, yang permasalahan ini dikenal sebagai VRPTW (Vehicle Routing Problems with Time Windows). Penyelesaian dari permasalah ini menghasilkan rute dengan biaya dan waktu minimum.

Abstract

Pemodelan komputasional sudah menjadi hal umum sebagai prosedur yang esensial dalam analisis dinamika dari proses yang muncul di bidang sains dan rekayasa. Banyak dari proses ini merupakan sistem parameter terdistribusi, i.e., sistem dengan peubah keadaan bergantung kepada sejumlah peubah bebas (seperti ruang dan waktu) yang dinyatakan oleh sekumpulan persamaan differensial parsial (pdp). Metode garis lateral merupakan satu metode penyelesaian numerik pdp dengan cara menyelesaikan masalah syarat batas secara berturutan, dan tujuan tulisan ini ialah melaporkan pengembangan toolbox pdp berbasis-Scilab. Filosofi pengembangan ialah memberikan kepada pengguna dengan sebuah metode yang mudah dipahami dan sekumpulan contoh aplikasi yang dapat digunakan sebagai template Scilab untuk mengembangkan simulasi numerik di bidang baru. Dalam tulisan ini tiga buah ilustrasi yaitu, persamaan panas satu dimensi, model Opsi Jual Eropa, dan model perlakuan panas buah untuk membunuh serangga akan digunakan untuk memperlihatkan bagaimana template metode garis lateral digunakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan

Abstract

Artikel ini memberikan formulasi masalah penjadwalan mata kuliah dengan memecah pertemuan berdasar model pemrograman linear integer. Pemecahan pertemuan mata kuliah didasarkan pada bobot jam kuliah masing-masing perminggu, sehingga mata kuliah berbobot tiga jam misalnya akan dipecah menjadi dua kali pertemuan yang masing-masing berdurasi dua jam dan satu jam. Formulasi yang dibangun menjamin bahwa mata kuliah berdurasi dua jam harus diberikan pada hari yang sama dengan periode (jam) kuliah berurutan. Sedangkan mata kuliah yang dipecah dalam dua kali pertemuan, kedua pertemuan tersebut harus dijadwalkan pada dua hari yang berbed

Abstract

Metode homotopi merupakan suatu metode pendekatan analitik yang dapat digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah taklinear. Metode homotopi tersebut digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah gelombang internal pada fluida dua lapisan. Persamaan gerak gelombang interfacial yang diperoleh berupa persamaan diferensial taklinear. Dengan metode homotopi diperoleh suatu rumus rekursif dari basis-basis penyelesaian masalah perambatan gelombang interfacial. Penyelesaian pendekatan awal dimisalkan dalam bentuk gelombang soliter.
