Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one of the indicators used to assess public health status. In 2023, the highest number of maternal deaths occurred during labor, accounting for 38.94%, highlighting the need for proper management through the use of a partograph as a monitoring tool during childbirth. However, there are challenges in its usage, one of which is the motivation of midwives. Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between midwives' motivation and the use of partograph at Fajar Bulan Community Health Center, West Lampung Regency. Method: This study employed a quantitative descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was Total Sampling, involving 67 midwives. Bivariate analysis was conducted using Spearman’s rank correlation test. Result: The obtained p-value is 0.00 < α (0.05), indicating a significant relationship between midwives' motivation and the use of partographs. Additionally, the correlation coefficient is 0.474, which signifies a moderate or sufficient relationship in a positive direction. This means that the higher the midwives' motivation, the higher the use of partographs at Fajar Bulan Community Health Center, West Lampung Regency. Conclusion: Midwives' motivation is a factor related to the use of partograph at Fajar Bulan Community Health Center, West Lampung Regency. It is recommended to improve services related to the use of partograph as a monitoring tool during labor.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem of chronic malnutrition marked by disturbance of linear growth in children, resulting from a lack of adequate nutrition, including infection, repetitive infections, and inadequate stimulation. The aim of this study is to analyze the connection between the circumference of the head and stunting incidents in children and toddlers. Research methods used a cross-sectional design with 100 children aged 2-5 years in Central Java. Data was collected through anthropometric measurements ( height, weight, and head circumference) and interviews. Data analysis with univariate and bivariate. Research results show that children with a head circumference not normal to have a prevalence of stunting is higher (21%) compared to children with a normal head circumference (1%), and there is a present connection between head circumference and the incidence of stunting in children ( p-value = 0.016). This study emphasizes the importance of integrating the circumference of the head in monitoring the growth of children, in addition to the conventional anthropometric parameters, for increased effectiveness in preventing stunting. The recommendations study covers a holistic approach involving repair nutrition, health of the mother, and environmental factors.

Abstract

Drug abuse is a complex public health problem in Indonesia. To increase access to rehabilitation services, the government launched the DESA SIAP BERSINAR application as a digital platform that involves volunteers in its implementation. This study aims to analyze the role of volunteers in improving the accessibility of rehabilitation services for people affected by drug abuse through the DESA SIAP BERSINAR application. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with volunteers, health workers, and the community involved in the program. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns and categories related to volunteer roles. The results of the study show that the Drug Clean Village (BERSINAR) program has a significant impact in increasing the accessibility of community-based rehabilitation services. This program involves Field Line officers and community leaders in providing understanding to the public about the dangers of drugs and the importance of rehabilitation. This activity includes counseling, education, and advocacy directed at high-risk groups. In addition, the program also includes coaching and empowerment for individuals who have participated in rehabilitation services. Recovery Agents in this program play a role in assisting drug users who have undergone rehabilitation so that they can adapt to society again. The psychosocial support provided by recovery agents has been proven to help users in the recovery process as well as prevent them from falling back into drug abuse. Volunteers play a strategic role in expanding the accessibility of rehabilitation services through the DESA SIAP BERSINAR application. More supportive policies and capacity building of volunteers are needed to ensure the sustainability of this program

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a prevalence rate that continues to increase in Indonesia. Compliance with taking medication is a key factor in managing DM to prevent serious complications. However, the level of patient compliance with treatment is still a challenge. One factor that can increase compliance is education about the importance of DM therapy. Objective: This study aims to explore the characteristics of education about DM treatment that influence patient compliance in taking medication based on factors such as age, gender, education level, occupation, economic status, and place of residence in Indonesia. Method: This study used a descriptive analytical design with secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). The study sample included DM patients who were diagnosed and received drug therapy. The main variables analyzed were the proportion of patients who received education and their level of compliance in taking medication, which were categorized by age group, gender, education, occupation, economic status, and place of residence. Data analysis was carried out descriptively to identify the proportion of education in compliance with taking DM medication in Indonesia. Results: A study from the Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) showed that 81.4% of patients received education about the importance of taking medication regularly, and of that number, 90% showed high compliance in taking medication. Meanwhile, only 81% of patients who did not receive education remained compliant with their treatment. Conclusion: Education has been shown to have a significant relationship with adherence to taking DM medication in Indonesia. Patients who receive education have a higher level of adherence than those who do not receive education. Age, education, occupation, and economic status factors play a role in determining the level of patient adherence. The results of this study can be the basis for designing education-based interventions to improve adherence to DM therapy in Indonesia.

Abstract

In Indonesia, healthcare facilities have been mandated to adopt Electronic Medical Records (EMR) by 2023. The possession of knowledge and motivation by health workers was identified as a pivotal factor in the successful implementation of EMRs. The aim of this study is to identify the level of knowledge and motivation of health workers with regard to the implementation of EMRs. This is a descriptive and quantitative study that used a cross-sectional study approach. The respondents comprised 39 health workers at Puskesmas Demak II who were administered a questionnaire to ascertain their level of knowledge and motivation regarding EMR implementation. The findings indicated that health workers at Puskesmas Demak II exhibited a commendable level of knowledge (74.4%) regarding EMR, yet their motivation to implement it was found to be suboptimal (51.3%). The Health Office has conducted socialisation of EMR implementation, but Puskesmas are not yet fully prepared in terms of human resources, information system management, budget, internet network infrastructure, and technology. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure the provision of adequate training and technical assistance.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is still a public health problem in Indonesia that affects mothers and babies. The government has implemented a supplementation program for iron tablets (IBT) to prevent anemia, but the compliance of pregnant women with these tablets is still low. Various factors, such as lack of awareness, side effects, and mothers’ perceptions of the importance of IBT, contribute to low compliance rates. This study analyzes the impact of the main reasons for not taking IBT on the number of tablets consumed during pregnancy based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). This study used an analytical cross-sectional study design with secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey. The independent variable was the main reason for not taking IBT, while the dependent variable was the number of tablets consumed during pregnancy (≥90). Data analysis was performed using correlation and regression. The results showed that the main reasons for not taking IBT were forgetting (30.39%), nausea/vomiting due to pregnancy (21.57%), bad taste and smell (12.60%), and side effects (12.57%). Most pregnant women did not reach the recommended consumption amount, with 60.37% consuming less than 90 tablets. The reason with the most significant influence on compliance was “not yet up to the end of time” (R=0.344, R²=0.117, p=0.030). The main factors influencing compliance of pregnant women in consuming iron tablets were perception of the need for supplements, side effects, and lack of awareness. Increasing education, social support, monitoring strategies, and reminders for consumption are needed to improve pregnant women’s compliance with iron tablets to reduce the incidence of anemia in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sports students face multidimensional pressures from academic demands and physical training, which have the potential to cause chronic stress and impaired recovery if not managed properly. This study aimed to analyze the stress and recovery profiles of sports students based on gender and type of sport (individual/team) using the RESTQ-Sport 76 instrument. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 161 students of the Faculty of Sport Science, Semarang State University. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the RESTQ-Sport 76 and statistically analyzed using t-tests to compare differences based on gender and type of sport. Results: There was no significant difference in stress and recovery levels between male and female students (p>0.05), although males tended to have higher recovery scores. Similarly, there was no significant difference between individual and team athletes. However, sleep and rest quality were identified as critical aspects that need to be improved. Conclusion: Stress and recovery in sports students are influenced by academic and training factors in general, not solely by gender or type of sport. Holistic monitoring and needs-based interventions are recommended to improve the well-being of student athletes.
