Abstract

Body image is a perception of how someone sees and thinks about their body. Teenagers are more interested in their body shape and this will have an impact on their self-confidence. Teenagers' dissatisfaction with their bodies can encourage them to adopt the wrong diet in an effort to get the ideal body shape. Body image is one of the factors that influences nutritional status. Teenagers tend to easily experience stress which may be caused by problems at school or in their friendship environment. In-depth knowledge is needed so that teenagers can manage their stress well. Based on reports from School Z, around 100% of teenagers have never received counseling regarding nutritional status and stress management. This activity aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge and understanding regarding body image and stress management. The counseling was carried out in August 2023 and involved class 10 students at Z High School as the main target. Counseling is delivered through PowerPoint, leaflets and posters. The students fill in the pre-test and post-test questions to be used as evaluation material for this activity. There is an increase in the minimum knowledge score, namely 0 (zero) during the pre-test to 60 during the post-test. The community service team hopes that after the activities take place, teenagers will be able to independently monitor nutritional status and manage stress.

Abstract

Breast and cervical cancer are the main types of cancer which are the largest contributors to all types of cancer in women. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of posyandu cadres in early detection of breast cancer. Posyandu cadre training is carried out for 8 hours per meeting and assistance for Posyandu cadres is carried out for 4 hours per meeting. A cadre of 10 people was prepared with the criteria for women of childbearing age who visited the posyandu after which they performed a breast phantom set. This research was conducted at the Salero Community Health Center in June 2023. The methods used included face-to-face lectures, questions and answers, and demonstrations with 10 posyandu cadres involved. The results of the research showed an increase in cadre knowledge, where before being given exposure to material and practice, only 10% of participants had sufficient knowledge, whereas after being given exposure to material and practice, good knowledge increased to 90%. The skill level of cadres was also very poor before being given exposure to material and practice where cadres with less knowledge reached 80%, and cadre skills increased after being given exposure to material and practice with cadres with good skills as much as 90%. Conclusion: The implication of the research is that cadre mentoring can be used as an appropriate method to increase cadres' knowledge and skills for breast self-examination.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia is a common nutritional problem encountered among adolescents. Approximately 30% of the world's population, especially in developing countries, suffers from anemia. Adolescent girls are prone to iron deficiency anemia because they experience menstruation periodically, requiring additional iron to compensate for the blood loss during menstruation. Iron is needed for the production of hemoglobin in the body. The status of anemia can be determined through changes in hemoglobin levels. One effort to prevent anemia is by consuming Iron Supplement Tablets (IST). The purpose of this activity is to assess the level of knowledge among adolescent girls regarding anemia as an effort to prevent stunting. This activity involves not only lectures and question-and-answer sessions but also health education utilizing attractive promotional media such as posters related to anemia. The results of health education show that there is an increase in the level of knowledge among adolescent girls regarding anemia as an effort to prevent stunting before and after health education, from 66% to 100%. One tangible form of increased knowledge among adolescent girls is the routine consumption of iron supplement tablets (IST), one tablet per day during menstruation and one tablet per week when not menstruating.
