Abstract

Literacy skills do not only develop reading and writing skills. Literacy skills include the ability to interpret, collaborate, solve problems, self-reflect, and communicate. One way to develop this is to use the Problem Based Learning method. Managing learning activities with this method is a challenge, especially during this pandemic. With these challenges, the first and third grade teachers at SD GagasCeria carried out lesson study activities. The purpose of this lesson study is to see how the Problem Based Learning method using the Google Jamboard application can develop students' literacy skills. The subjects of this lesson study are third grade students of SD GagasCeria. We use the stages of lesson study activities, namely Plan-Do-See. One teacher becomes a model teacher and another teacher becomes an observer. They observe learning activities through learning video recordings which are then made in the form of learning transcript analysis. The results of the implementation of this lesson study were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. From the results of the analysis, it was found that students' literacy skills could be developed. This can be seen from the results of students' thoughts contained in the Google Jamboard and learning transcripts, showing the level of depth of thinking and understanding of students towards texts, images, and situations at hand. The use of the Google Jamboard application can facilitate students to interact with each other which also helps develop literacy skills. Keywords: Lesson study, literacy, problem based learning, Google Jamboard application.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education, teaching and learning must be better. In the process of teaching there are several components that support them, such as, materials, teachers, students, methods, media and evaluations. These components are essential as teaching tools and thus makes it the teaching process and learning results. Currently, because of the pendemic, learning process moved it into Virtual-Learning. That makes the collaboration and communication of the between students and teachers lack understanding. Then learning process using zoom as media-learning with an additional feature, the breakout rooms aims through collaborative students can present accurate and informative data. This method used is the group discussions through small groups. Using this method, the students are more likely to collaborate and communicate because the features of breakouts rooms can create small groups so that students can interact with their groups undisturbed with students from other groups. It makes the students are enthusiastic and keenness about following the material because learning is quite differently than previously that is make students more focused on learning. Analysis indicates the number of words presented by the teacher by 2615 words while the student 4115 words, thus concluding that the student is the center of learning. With these results it can conclude that virtual learning through breakouts rooms is particularly effective as well. Keywords- Breakout rooms, Virtual learning, data concluding.

Abstract

Changes in the orientation of 21st-century education by training soft skills are of particular concern to the world of education. Revise the 2013 curriculum by adding skills (1). Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving; (2) Creativity and Innovation; (3) Communications; (4) Collaboration that is included in each learning content gives a message about the importance of this skill. This was done because Indonesia's low position in the PISA ranking based on the Education Development Index released in 2016 was ranked 61, 62, and 63 out of 72 countries for the fields of science, reading, and mathematics. Facts on the ground, teachers are still not well prepared for learning. Conventional teaching methods with lectures and teacher-centered are still the favorites. Answering these challenges, lesson design using a learning model (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) RADEC can be used as an alternative solution to train 21st-century skills in elementary schools. The research model used is descriptive qualitative from the results of observations, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that students were trained to analyze critical thinking, creativity, and innovation, to communicate and collaborate well at the stages of the RADEC learning model. Students are more active and interested in learning, it is easier to understand the material and get satisfactory results. Keywords: RADEC, 4C, lesson design
