Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of the Quran memorization program as a medium for shaping Islamic character in Islamic-based elementary schools. The main issue addressed is the suboptimal integration of Quran memorization with the inculcation of Islamic values in daily school learning activities. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of Quran memorization integrated with Islamic values at Al-Barokah Madani Integrated Islamic Elementary School in Sukabumi. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the program not only enhances students' memorization abilities but also instills values such as discipline, responsibility, patience, and love for the Quran through structured daily activities, including Dhuha prayer, Quran writing, repetition (murojaah), and memorization sessions. The conclusion shows that the consistent integration of Quran memorization with Islamic value habituation effectively shapes students’ religious character in a holistic manner. The implication emphasizes the significance of collaboration among schools, teachers, and parents to support successful Quran-based character education from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to reexamine the concept of khalifah in Q.S. Al-Baqarah verse 30 by emphasizing the position and responsibility of human beings as stewards of the earth. The research employs a qualitative library research method through a comparative study between Ath-Tabari's Tafsir as a representation of classical exegesis and At-Tanwir Tafsir as a representation of contemporary interpretation. The data were analyzed by examining and comparing the interpretations of both exegetes regarding the meaning of khalifah. The findings reveal that the concept of khalifah should not be understood merely as authority or leadership on earth, but rather as a multidimensional trust encompassing moral, social, and ecological responsibilities. Ath-Tabari emphasizes the role of humans as successors entrusted to carry out God's will on earth, while At-Tanwir expands this understanding by highlighting human responsibility in maintaining environmental balance and promoting collective welfare. Therefore, the concept of khalifah serves as an ethical foundation for fostering ecological awareness among Muslims in responding to contemporary environmental challenges.

Abstract

The story of the Companions of the Cave (Ashabul Kahfi), recorded in Surah Al-Kahfi (verses 9–26), is a Quranic narrative rich in theological, historical, and moral significance. It does not merely recount the tale of faithful youths who sought refuge in a cave to preserve their creed; it also offers profound reflections on the relationship between faith and power, the concept of time from a Divine perspective, and the nature of God’s protection for His believing servants. This article analyzes the story of Ashabul Kahfi through the lens of exegesis (*tafsir*) of Surah Al-Kahfi: 9–26, employing a thematic-historical exegetical approach. The discussion focuses on the *asbāb al-nuzūl* (circumstances of revelation), a critical analysis of relevant hadith narrations, a comparison of classical and contemporary interpretations, and the contextualization of the verses' values within modern life. The study utilizes a library research methodology, drawing upon primary sources—such as exegetical texts, works on *asbāb al-nuzūl*, and hadith collections—as well as secondary sources, including scholarly books and academic journals. The findings indicate that the story of Ashabul Kahfi underscores the vital importance of steadfast faith, a critical stance toward oppressive power, and absolute trust in God’s decree as the fundamental basis for confronting social and ideological pressures across the ages.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of observing proper etiquette—or decorum—regarding dress and worship for Muslims. We often focus solely on the obligation of worship itself while paying insufficient attention to our appearance and demeanor while performing it. This paper aims to explain that the clothing we wear is not merely a covering for the body but a reflection of the respect we hold when standing before Allah SWT. Through a simple review, the article demonstrates that wearing clean, neat clothing that covers the *awrah* (intimate parts) can help an individual feel calmer and more focused during worship. Furthermore, maintaining proper etiquette—such as avoiding haste and preserving a sense of tranquility in places of worship—is key to achieving *khushu* (deep, humble reverence). In conclusion, the combination of appropriate attire and respectful conduct serves as a tangible expression of faith that enhances an individual's spiritual quality in daily life.

Abstract

*Tafsir al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ* by Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī is a monumental work within the corpus of classical exegesis, having made a significant contribution to the development of the science of *tafsīr* (exegesis), particularly regarding the linguistic aspects of the Qur’an. The work is renowned for its profound attention to *naḥw* (syntax), *ṣarf* (morphology), *balāghah* (rhetoric), *i‘rāb* (grammatical analysis), and *qirā’at* (modes of recitation), establishing it as a primary reference in the study of Qur’anic linguistics. This research aims to examine the characteristics of *Tafsir al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ* by exploring the biography of Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī, his exegetical methodology, the nature of the commentary, and the views of scholars regarding the work. This study employs a library research method utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data consists of the text of *Tafsir al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ* itself, while secondary data is derived from other exegetical works, books, scholarly journals, and relevant literature. The findings indicate that *Tafsir al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ* employs the *taḥlīlī* (analytical) method, following the sequential order of verses and chapters found in the Qur’anic *muṣḥaf*. Its exegetical style is classified as *lughawī* (linguistic), as it is dominated by analyses of linguistic elements such as syntax, morphology, rhetoric, grammatical analysis, and recitation variants. Furthermore, scholars regard this work as highly authoritative in the field of Qur’anic linguistics and as a crucial reference for gaining a deep understanding of the linguistic structure and meaning of Qur’anic verses.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low skill of reading Qur'anic verses among third-grade students at SD Negeri Jayagiri, with an average score of 22.60 out of a maximum of 40 and only 3.3% of students reaching the very high category. The lowest indicators were understanding the meaning of verses (1.60) and applying tajwid rules (1.92), both in the very low category. The objective was to describe and analyze the effect of Strip Story Media on students' Qur'anic reading skills. A quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used on 30 students (saturated sampling). The observation instrument with a 1-4 scale rubric (10 items, inter-observer reliability 83.6%) measured indicators of makhraj, tajwid, tartil, and meaning comprehension. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. Results showed mean pretest of 22.60 (low) and posttest of 33.00 (high), with an increase of 10.40 points (51.6%) and N-Gain of 0.13 (low). Mastery (very high category) increased from 3.3% to 53.3%. All indicators increased, highest in meaning comprehension (64.4%) and tajwid application (54.2%). The t-test yielded Sig. 0.000 (<0.05), thus H₀ was rejected. Conclusion: Strip Story Media has a significant effect on improving students' Qur'anic reading skills. Recommendations: teachers adopt this media consistently, further researchers conduct comparative studies.
