Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to investigate the practice of immersive learning in the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools, highlighting the learning process, assessment, and documentation as key aspects that still leave gaps in curriculum implementation. This study seeks to provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics of implementing immersive learning as a pedagogical practice in the context of elementary education. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design. Data were collected through triangulation of methods, including observation of the learning process, semi-structured interviews, and analysis of learning documents, including teaching modules, assessment instruments, and student project results. Data were analyzed using an analytical model encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and the drawing and verification of conclusions. Findings – The results indicate that the practice of immersive learning in the Merdeka Curriculum has been implemented effectively across aspects of the learning process and student learning outcomes, characterized by active student engagement, the use of tasks oriented towards higher-order thinking skills, collaboration, and the role of teachers as learning facilitators. However, this study also identified challenges with the consistency of portfolio documentation and the governance of learning projects, particularly in the upper grades, with implications for the ongoing monitoring of student learning progress. Originality/Value – This study offers an empirical perspective on deep learning as a pedagogical practice in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools. The findings broaden understanding of the importance of integrating learning processes, authentic assessments, and portfolio documentation in supporting meaningful and sustainable learning, and provide practical implications for schools and teachers in strengthening the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the influence of cultural arts performances on the character education of the younger generation. Design/Methodology/Approach – The research employs a qualitative approach, focusing on performances by various art groups, including karawitan, Javanese poetry (gurit jawa), Indonesian poetry, wayang padat (concise puppet shows), and dance. Data were gathered from primary and secondary sources through in-depth interviews, literature reviews, photographic documentation, and observations of digital content on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. Findings – The results indicate that cultural arts performances have a positive and significant impact on character education. Through performance themes such as "Sungkem Pertiwi," these artistic showcases serve as a platform for the nation's youth to contribute while instilling moral values, such as respect for parents and elders, and the philosophy of "humanizing human beings" (memanusiakan manusia). The sequence of artistic works cohesively provides character lessons encompassing aspects of tolerance, responsibility, and cooperation. Originality/Value –This research offers a unique contribution by examining the intersection of cultural art performances and character education, focusing on specific art forms such as karawitan, Javanese poetry, wayang padat, and traditional dance, which are often overlooked in contemporary educational discourse.

Abstract

Purpose – Early childhood literacy serves as a vital foundation for academic success, yet traditional teaching methods often struggle to maintain engagement and clarity in letter recognition. This study investigates the influence of animation media on children’s conceptual understanding of letters, specifically focusing on visual shapes, names, and phonemic sounds. Design/Methodology/Approach – The research employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving children aged 4–6 years. Data were collected through quantitative letter recognition tests and qualitative teacher observations and questionnaires. The study utilized data triangulation—combining performance scores with behavioral observations—to ensure a comprehensive analysis of the media's impact. Findings – The findings indicate a significant improvement in early literacy skills following the intervention. Before the treatment, children demonstrated low baseline scores, particularly in distinguishing mirror-image letters (e.g., b–d, p–q) and consistent phonetic naming. After learning through animation media, children showed a marked increase in visual recognition accuracy and verbal confidence. Qualitative data revealed that the classroom atmosphere became more conducive to learning, with children showing higher levels of enthusiasm and sustained attention compared to conventional methods. Originality/Value – The results demonstrate that animation media effectively bridges the gap between abstract symbols and concrete cognitive understanding by providing multisensory stimulation. Unlike generic entertainment content, the structured instructional design of the media used in this study successfully balanced digital engagement with pedagogical goals. This study concludes that animation media is a feasible, relevant, and effective tool for early childhood education, serving as a practical reference for educators to modernize literacy instruction.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to (1) find out the description of vocabulary ability in the control group and the experimental group before and after treatment in the study of the influence of picture card games and to find out if there is a significant difference in vocabulary development in the children of the experimental group and the control group who have participated in the activity. Design/Methodology/Approach – This type of research uses a quantitative quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. Data collection techniques are in the form of vocabulary tests (pre-test and post-test), observation of children's activities while playing drawing cards, and documentation (photos of activities, teachers' diaries). Data analysis techniques consist of; (a) Normality test, (b) Homogeneity test, (c) Hypothesis test. Findings – The results of the study showed that  the learning method of picture card games was carried out with 4 treatment activities using picture card media which was made and then played by children in stimulating the visual vocabulary of children aged 5-6 years., the visual skills of children aged 5-6 years showed significant changes in children's visual abilities, before and after being given learning with pretest picture card media, obtained an average score of 9.6 while from the post-test results obtained an average score of 10.8., there was a significant influence on the vocabulary learning method with picture card media on the visual ability of children aged 5-6 years, this was shown based on the results  of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank test. Originality/Value –This research provides alternative vocabulary learning media that is fun and effective, improves language skills in a more natural and fun way, and is a reference for further research on game-based learning media.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to formulate strategic education and training models to prepare Civil Servant (ASN) leadership in the era of Society 5.0, addressing a critical gap in the literature regarding the integration of digital transformation, merit systems, and leadership development in public sector governance. The research seeks to generate conceptual insights into how leadership competencies can be systematically developed to respond to VUCA dynamics and the increasing demand for adaptive, technology-enabled public administration. Design/Methodology/Approach - The study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical literature review. Data were collected through systematic identification, screening, and selection of relevant academic publications focusing on digital leadership, adaptive governance, merit systems, and public sector training models. The analysis was conducted using a systematic literature review framework complemented by thematic synthesis and systematic mapping to construct a layered conceptual framework model for ASN leadership development. Findings - The findings reveal that ASN leadership in the Society 5.0 era must be characterized by digital leadership capability, adaptive and transformational capacity, collaborative governance orientation, and agile bureaucratic behavior. The study further identifies that effective education and training strategies should integrate digital-based training systems, HRIS-based needs assessment, blended learning models, and talent management aligned with merit principles. The proposed conceptual framework model demonstrates that leadership development must be designed as an integrated and dynamic ecosystem linking strategic context, training processes, competency outputs, and institutional transformation outcomes. Originality/Value - This research offers a novel conceptual framework for ASN leadership development by integrating digital transformation, adaptive leadership theory, and public sector training strategy within the context of Society 5.0. The study contributes theoretically to the discourse on public administration reform and practically provides strategic guidance for policymakers and training institutions in redesigning ASN education and leadership development programs to support sustainable bureaucratic transformation.
