Abstract

This community service program aims to introduce and provide education on the preservation of archaeological sites in Kupang City through community-based participatory site visits. Kupang City possesses archaeological remains spanning the prehistoric, colonial, and Japanese occupation periods; however, the extent of scholarly research and preservation efforts remains limited. The program was implemented through field observations, the delivery of historical materials, and interactive discussions conducted at several sites, including Goa Monyet, Fort Concordia, Goa Jepang Liliba, and Bukit Cinta Site. Direct community involvement facilitated a contextual understanding of the significance of cultural heritage and fostered collective awareness regarding its conservation. The results indicate that the site-visit method is effective in enhancing public knowledge and promoting active community participation in the sustainable preservation of cultural heritage.

Abstract

Cultural heritage in tangible and intangible forms preserves important values for society and therefore must be preserved. However, its non-renewable nature poses a threat of extinction, which will result in the loss of cultural identity. This situation can be resolved through the use of digital technology in the process of promoting cultural heritage so that it can be accessed by the public. This community service is carried out as an effort to promote cultural heritage through digital platforms. The participants of the activity are students of the Archaeology Program at the Universitas Jambi, class of 2025. The activity was carried out in stages: preparation, implementation, guidance, and evaluation. This activity resulted in an introduction to cultural heritage and alternative promotional efforts using digital technology through WIX for students who will graduate in the fields of archaeology and culture. This activity produced students who are able to create websites for promoting cultural heritage in the digital media WIX.

Abstract

The Werianggi-Werabur Transmigration Area in Teluk Wondama, West Papua, faces challenges of social integration in the form of latent conflict between Indigenous Papuans (OAP) and transmigrants. This tension is manifested in residential segregation and recurring disputes regarding crop damage caused by livestock ("cattle vs. garden"). This community engagement activity aims to initiate culture-based conflict resolution through the "Damai Kita, Sejahtera Kita" Participatory Workshop. We used Participatory Action Research (PAR) as method. The pre-implementation phase utilized Social Network Analysis (SNA) to map key actors, as mediators, followed by social intervention through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) using Problem Tree and Conceptual Model tools. The results show three main achievements: (1) The strategy of commensality (eating together) successfully broke down psychological barriers and shifted interaction patterns from segregative to inclusive; (2) Problem tree analysis revealed that the root of the conflict was not ethnic sentiment, but a regulatory vacuum at the village level; (3) The establishment of the Sane Siri (One Heart) Forum, which integrates restorative customary sanctions into the village governance structure. This program concludes that a cultural approach placing the community as the subject of the solution is more effective in maintaining social cohesion in transmigration contact zones.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage characterized by increasing academic demands, emotional fluctuations, and the need for effective self-management skills. Many senior high school students experience difficulties in regulating time, emotions, and priorities, which may hinder both academic adaptation and psychological well-being. This study reports a school-based psychological empowerment program designed to strengthen self-regulation among students of a public senior high school in Indonesia. Using a pretest–posttest design, the program involved 323 tenth-grade students who participated in a structured intervention consisting of psychoeducation, self-reflection, case-based discussions, journaling exercises, and self-care training. Self-regulation was measured using the Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SSRQ). Quantitative analysis using paired-samples t-tests revealed a significant increase in self-regulation scores following the intervention (t(322) = −11.36, p < .001), indicating meaningful improvement in students’ ability to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Beyond statistical findings, qualitative observations suggested enhanced emotional awareness and reflective capacity among participants. This study contributes to the discourse on community engagement by demonstrating how school-based psychological empowerment can serve as a preventive and promotive strategy for adolescent development. Integrating self-regulation interventions within educational communities may support both academic readiness and long-term psychological well-being.
