Abstract

Building balance and maintaining mental health in the waves of challenges faced by students is an important issue that requires serious attention. The level of student stress is closely related to the motivation to learn and the academic pressure they experience in campus life. This includes developing awareness and skills to face challenges and maintain emotional balance. The method we use is a descriptive qualitative method that aims to understand students’ perceptions of a particular phenomenon. Data collection techniques are carried out using semi-structured interview guidelines so that the data obtained are more focused and in-depth. The data sources used in this study were students of UIN Syekh Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. Students use various strategies to maintain their mental well-being, ranging from being active, such as exercising, worshiping, and managing time, to telling close friends and family and seeking social support. Strengthening social support is also an important solution. Campuses need to build supportive communities through the formation of discussion groups, support groups, or healthy student organization activities. Students from difficult economic backgrounds must also receive special attention through adequate social scholarships and financial assistance. The results of the study show that many students face high mental and emotional burdens, which have an impact on learning motivation, social relations, and mental health. This study emphasizes the importance of institutional support and a campus environment that is responsive to students’ psychosocial needs in order to create a more humane and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Abstract

Academic pressure experienced by students often negatively impacts their psychological condition and inner balance. The background of this study lies in the increasin cases of mental exhaustion, anxiety, and emotional instability resulting from high academic demands, peer competition, and the lack of adequate emotional support systems. This research aims to identify the forms of academic pressure perceived by students, as well as the strategies they use to build and maintain inner balance amid such stress. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews involving 15 students from various study programs at both public and private universities in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using thematic methods to reveal common patterns in the students' experiences and strategies. The research findings indicate that students face pressure arising from overwhelming assignments, high academic expectations, and social pressures from their surroundings. In response, students develop various efforts to build inner balance, including spiritual practices (such as meditation and prayer), better time management, recreational activities, and seeking emotional support from peers or campus counselors. The conclusion of this study shows that efforts to build inner balance are dynamic processes that are strongly influenced by self-awareness and environmental support. Interventions from the university, such as the provision of counseling services and stress management programs, are crucial to help students cope with academic pressure in a healthier and more constructive manner.

Abstract

This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This research explores students' perceptions of the role of family in academic achievement, with a focus on the dynamics between perceived support and stress. Through a qualitative approach, data is collected from in-depth interviews with students from various backgrounds. The research results show that family support, in the form of moral encouragement and financial assistance, greatly influences students' academic motivation. However, in certain situations, such as high expectations or comparisons with siblings, this support can turn into stressful pressure. College students often feel caught between the desire to meet family expectations and the need to pursue their personal goals. This research also identified that the role of the family not only impacts motivation, but also the mental health of students. By understanding the complexity of this relationship, it is hoped that it can provide insight for parents and educators in creating a supportive environment without causing excessive pressure. It is hoped that these findings can become a reference in developing more effective intervention strategies to support students' academic well-being.

Abstract

This study explores the role of social media in shaping university students' perceptions of academic and social success. Social media platforms have become integral to students' daily lives, influencing how they define and pursue success. The research investigates both positive and negative impacts of social media usage on students' academic achievements and social interactions. Findings indicate that when social media is used as a tool for academic support and peer collaboration, it positively correlates with higher academic performance and enhanced social engagement. Conversely, excessive or entertainment-focused use may distract students, leading to lower academic outcomes and social comparison stress. The study highlights the dual nature of social media as both a facilitator and a potential barrier to student success. Recommendations emphasize the importance of mindful and purposeful use of social media to maximize its benefits in academic and social domains. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of how digital environments influence student perceptions and outcomes in higher education.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between gadget usage and learning concentration among students at UIN SYAHADA. The increasing reliance on digital devices has raised concerns regarding its impact on students’ academic focus and cognitive performance. The primary purpose of this research is to analyze whether high-frequency gadget usage correlates with lower levels of concentration during learning activities. A quantitative research method was applied, using a correlational approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to a sample of 100 students selected using purposive sampling. The results reveal a significant negative correlation between the intensity of gadget usage and students’ concentration in learning. This indicates that students who use gadgets excessively tend to have reduced concentration, which can hinder academic performance. The findings emphasize the importance of promoting balanced gadget use and implementing strategies for digital discipline among students. This study provides insights for educators and policymakers to design interventions that foster healthier learning environments and minimize distractions caused by digital technologies.

Abstract

This study analyzes the copyright ownership status of generative AI artworks under Law No. 28 of 2014 on Copyright and the urgency of redefining legal subjects in Indonesia. Using a normative juridical method with statutory and conceptual approaches, this study finds that Indonesia's copyright regime, which adheres to the principle of human authorship, creates a legal vacuum for works autonomously generated by artificial intelligence. This research examines three legal protection scenarios: works as public domain, user ownership, and the concept of computer-aided works. The analysis results indicate that granting independent legal subject status to AI (electronic personhood) is not yet urgent and risks disrupting the doctrine of civil liability. As a solution, the study recommends an approach of attributing rights to humans with dominant creative contributions or the formation of more adaptive sui generis regulations.

Abstract

Classification skills based on color and shape are fundamental cognitive abilities that are important to develop in early childhood, as they play a crucial role in training logical thinking, observation, and the ability to distinguish object characteristics. This study aims to improve color and shape-based classification skills in Group B kindergarten children through the implementation of logical block play. The study utilizes the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles, with 20 Group B kindergarten children as the research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and children's performance assessment. The results showed an increase in children's classification abilities in each cycle. In Cycle I, the completeness of color classification reached 55% and shape classification was 50%. After instructional improvements were made in Cycle II, completeness increased to 85% for color classification and 80% for shape classification. The research findings indicate that the structured, gradual, and engaging implementation of logical block play is effective in improving the color and shape classification skills of Group B kindergarten children.

Abstract

Excessive screen time in early childhood has become a crucial issue impacting socio-emotional development, particularly frustration tolerance. Children accustomed to the instant gratification provided by digital devices tend to face difficulties when dealing with learning challenges that require a process. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the duration of screen time and the ability of children aged 6–7 years to manage emotions and frustration during private tutoring sessions. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques consisting of observation, direct participatory observation, and field notes compiled over four months of private sessions (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 09:00 to 10:00 WIB). The results of the analysis indicate that screen time exceeding the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended limits is closely correlated with increased defensive behavior, decreased concentration, and self-defense mechanisms—such as crying or throwing negative accusations at the tutor—when encountering difficulties in literacy and numeracy (calistung). It is concluded that parental supervision of screen duration and the implementation of emotion regulation by private tutors are key factors in moderating the negative impacts of screen time on children's learning readiness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the alphabet recognition skills of children in Group B, including correctly naming, pointing to, and differentiating letter shapes. Children were able to distinguish between the letters b and d, n and h, w and m, m and n, and f and t using Loose parts Media. Loose parts Media utilizes loose materials derived from natural materials such as seeds, stones, twigs, shells, sand, soil, etc., and manufactured materials such as garlands, beads, lifeboats, Lego, buttons, etc., which can enhance children's creativity and encourage active participation in learning and exploring their surroundings. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, implemented in two cycles. The study population was all 12 children in Group B. Data collection techniques included observation, checklists, and documentation. Tests were used to obtain data and to assess alphabet recognition skills through play, finding letters, making letter shapes, and grouping letters based on their shapes. The research results revealed that the use of Loose parts Media improved the alphabet recognition skills of children in Group B, with 66.25% achieving success in Cycle I and 88.75% achieving success in Cycle II, categorized as "good." Therefore, the use of Loose parts Media is effective in improving alphabet recognition in children in Group B.
