The research method used is descriptive qualitative which seeks to explain and describe the findings in the field and was associated with the theory found. The results of this study were (1) SMK Sore Ponorogo has implemented the Activity Based Management (ABM) method (2) Based on the application of the Activity Based Management (ABM) method, it was found that there were non-value-added activities that needed to be minimized (3) After applying ABM, cost efficiency can be found after reducing activities so that cost stability is found.

Abstract

VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambigue) is an acronym often used to describe the current state of the world. The world is developing. Technology is the participant that makes the greatest contribution to the development of the world. Technology provides convenience on the one hand but also raises new problems. Big Data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are extraordinary inventions that can provide easier, more effective, and more efficient life experiences. However, it also kills other areas of life, such as economics, sociology, and education. Humans will continue to compete to maintain their lives. This study aims to analyze the design of character education in modern pesantren to face the VUCA Era. The research methods used are library research and unstructured observation. Modern pesantren turn out to have complex character-strengthening education. The dynamics of student activities, from waking up to sleeping again, are unwittingly full of values. Education is not only inside the classroom but also outside the classroom. Modern pesantren are miniatures of people's lives. The students not only learn religious knowledge but also learn to live. Qualified individuals are needed to face the VUCA era and have resilience to rapid world changes. It is no exaggeration to say that pesantren education can produce quality output with these qualifications. Because modern pesantren educate life. What is educated is his discipline, his responsibilities, his qualifications, his competence, and his integrity.

Silat instructors play a significant role in shaping patience and discipline in their students. Data collection was done through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained was then analyzed using the interactive analysis model, where the data is reduced to only the important aspects, and then the data is presented alongside the data collection process. Thus, after the data is collected, the three components of analysis (data reduction, data review, and conclusion drawing) interact. The results show a relationship between the instructor and the students regarding the formation character of patience and discipline. In conclusion, the combination of physical training and spiritual guidance, along with rewards for achievements and punishments for violations, trains students to be patient in facing various problems they encounter and to be disciplined with time during and outside silat practice sessions.

Islamic character education shapes students' behavior, particularly in boarding schools like Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Gontor is well-known for blending religious teachings with general education, aiming to develop students’ characters in line with Islamic values, which underpins its disciplinary practices. However, despite its structured approach, Gontor faces challenges in ensuring that Islamic values taught in class are consistently practiced in everyday life.  This study zeroes in on Gontor's educational system, assessing how effectively its character education fosters discipline and handles current challenges. It sheds light on Gontor's comprehensive approach and offers practical recommendations for other pesantren to strengthen their character education systems, ensuring they remain relevant and effective in today's evolving world.
