Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Circuit Training on the physical fitness of students at SMP Negeri 2 Mataram. The background of this research is based on the importance of improving physical fitness during adolescence, especially in the school environment, as a foundation for health and academic achievement. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 30 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used to measure physical fitness was the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) for ages 13–15. The Circuit Training program was implemented over six weeks with a frequency of three sessions per week, consisting of various types of exercises such as sprinting, jump rope, push-ups, sit-ups, and shuttle runs. Data analysis using a paired sample t-test showed a significant improvement in students’ physical fitness after participating in the training program (p < 0.05). The average physical fitness score of the students increased significantly from pretest to posttest. These findings indicate that Circuit Training is effective as a method to improve the physical fitness of junior high school students. It can be concluded that a structured and consistent implementation of Circuit Training can have a positive impact on students’ physical fitness. Therefore, it is recommended that physical education teachers integrate this training into school sports learning activities.

Abstract

Instilling Entrepreneurial Spirit Among Students is a crucial aspect in preparing a young generation that is independent, creative, and competitive in the global era. This study aims to analyze the effect of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on the entrepreneurial skills of 12th-grade students at MAN 5 Jombang. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method was employed in this study, using a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 60 students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instrument was an entrepreneurial skill questionnaire covering aspects such as creativity, innovation, risk-taking, as well as the ability to design and run a business. Data analysis using a t-test revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), with the group receiving project-based learning showing greater improvement in entrepreneurial skills. These findings indicate that the PjBL model is effective in fostering students' entrepreneurial attitudes and skills, as it encourages active engagement, real-world problem-solving, and the development of business ideas. Therefore, implementing project-based learning can serve as an alternative learning strategy in madrasahs to support character education and 21st-century skills development. Recommendations are addressed to teachers and educational policymakers to sustainably integrate this approach into the entrepreneurship curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach on emotional problems among adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Kopang. Emotional problems experienced by adolescents at the junior high school level are often related to academic stress, social pressure, and an inability to manage emotions effectively. The CBT approach was chosen because it has been proven effective in helping individuals recognize and change negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a single-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 30 students selected through purposive sampling based on initial assessment results indicating emotional symptoms such as anxiety, anger, and excessive sadness. The instrument used was a previously validated adolescent emotional problems scale. Data analysis using the paired sample t-test revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores after the CBT intervention was administered. These findings indicate that the CBT approach is effective in reducing the intensity of emotional problems in adolescents. Therefore, CBT can serve as an alternative psychological intervention in school settings to help students develop more adaptive emotional regulation. Recommendations are directed toward school counselors and school authorities to integrate CBT techniques into guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using digital media in the process of reconstructing historical events in the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject at MAN 2 Mataram. In the context of 21st-century education, the integration of technology has become an urgent necessity to enhance student engagement and understanding of learning materials, particularly in subjects related to history. Digital media such as documentary videos, animations, digital simulations, and interactive platforms are considered capable of presenting past events in a more visual and contextual manner. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques include classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of learning documents. The results show that the use of digital media can increase students’ learning interest, facilitate understanding of the chronology and context of historical events, and foster critical and appreciative attitudes toward Islamic cultural heritage. Teachers also find it easier to convey complex materials in a simpler and more engaging way. However, challenges such as limited technological infrastructure and teachers’ digital literacy remain obstacles to optimal implementation. Therefore, training in digital media usage for teachers and improvement of learning facilities are necessary considerations. In conclusion, digital media is a potential tool for reconstructing historical events in SKI subjects, supporting active and meaningful learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine student participation in Intra-School Student Organization (OSIS) activities as a form of civic education at SMA Negeri 3 Mataram. OSIS serves as a platform for character development and a means to actualize democratic values, responsibility, and social skills that are essential in shaping active and responsible citizens. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study included OSIS board members, students actively involved in OSIS activities, OSIS supervising teachers, and the vice principal for student affairs. The findings indicate that student involvement in OSIS activities provides real-life experiences in practicing civic values such as leadership, decision-making, cooperation, and tolerance. OSIS activities also offer students opportunities to understand their rights and responsibilities as members of the school community, in line with the principles of civic education. However, it was found that the level of student participation is still influenced by individual motivation, school environment support, and understanding of OSIS's role as a medium for non-formal learning. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the role of OSIS within the hidden curriculum to maximize the function of civic learning through active and sustainable student participation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model in improving students’ understanding of fractions at SMA Negeri 1 Gerung. The background of this research is based on the low level of students’ understanding of fraction concepts, which are often abstract and difficult to comprehend through conventional teaching approaches. RME was selected as a strategic alternative because it emphasizes the connection between mathematical concepts and students’ real-life experiences, making learning more contextual and meaningful. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group format. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that applied the RME model and a control class that used conventional teaching methods. The research instruments included a conceptual understanding test and an observation sheet to assess students’ learning activities. The results of data analysis indicated a significant difference between the posttest scores of students in the experimental class and those in the control class, with a higher average improvement observed in the class that implemented RME. In addition, students demonstrated greater engagement and enthusiasm during the learning process. These findings suggest that RME is effective in enhancing students’ understanding of fraction concepts and in promoting active participation. Therefore, it is recommended that mathematics teachers consider implementing RME as an alternative approach in teaching fractions at the senior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Think-Talk-Write (TTW) learning model in improving the argumentative writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsari. Argumentative writing is a higher-level language skill that requires critical thinking ability, systematic logical organization, and the capacity to present ideas persuasively. However, preliminary observations revealed that many students experienced difficulties in developing ideas and constructing coherent arguments. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving two classes: an experimental class that received instruction using the TTW model and a control class that was taught using a conventional learning model. The research instrument consisted of an argumentative writing test, which was analyzed using a t-test to determine whether there was a significant difference between the two groups. The results of the study indicate that students who were taught using the TTW model showed a significant improvement in the quality of their argumentative writing, particularly in terms of argument structure, content relevance, and language use. The TTW model proved to effectively facilitate the development of critical thinking through its integrated stages of thinking, talking, and writing. Therefore, the TTW model is recommended as an effective alternative instructional strategy for teaching writing at the junior high school level, particularly for the development of argumentative writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of virtual laboratory activities in improving students’ understanding of cell material in Biology at SMA Negeri 1 Kopang. The development of educational technology provides new opportunities for implementing digital laboratory practices, particularly in the context of limited laboratory facilities and distance learning. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of 60 eleventh-grade students who were divided into two groups: an experimental group that utilized virtual laboratory media and a control group that received conventional instructional methods. The instrument used was a conceptual understanding test on cell material that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis using an independent samples t-test revealed a significant difference between the posttest results of the experimental group and the control group, with a p-value < 0.05. The group that participated in virtual laboratory activities demonstrated a higher improvement in conceptual understanding compared to the control group. These findings indicate that the use of virtual laboratory activities can serve as an effective alternative to enhance the quality of Biology learning, particularly for abstract topics such as cell structure and function. It is recommended that Biology teachers consider integrating digital laboratory media as part of innovative and contextual teaching strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the flipped classroom learning model in improving the effectiveness of chemistry learning at SMA Negeri 2 Mataram. The flipped classroom model is an innovative approach that reverses the traditional structure of instruction by moving content delivery activities outside the classroom through videos or online modules, allowing classroom time to be used for discussion, problem-solving, and collaborative activities. This research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group approach. The research subjects consisted of two eleventh-grade classes selected purposively, with one serving as the experimental class and the other as the control class. The instruments used included a concept understanding test, a learning motivation questionnaire, and an observation sheet of students’ learning activities. The results showed a significant improvement in chemistry concept understanding among students who learned using the flipped classroom model compared to those in the control class who were taught using conventional methods. In addition, students in the experimental class demonstrated higher learning motivation and more active engagement in the learning process. Based on these findings, the flipped classroom model is recommended as an alternative 21st-century instructional strategy that supports active, independent, and meaningful learning in chemistry subjects. The implications of this study highlight the importance of developing digital learning resources to support the implementation of innovative instructional models in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media tailored to the characteristics and needs of students with autism at SLB Negeri 2 Mataram. Students with autism require specific, structured, and engaging instructional approaches to ensure that the learning process can take place effectively. The research method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). During the analysis phase, a needs assessment was conducted through observations and interviews with teachers and parents. The media design was developed based on the findings of this analysis, focusing on attractive visualizations, simple navigation, and quick responses to user interaction. The media was developed in the form of an Android-based interactive application containing basic learning materials such as reading, counting, and recognizing surrounding objects. A limited trial was conducted with five students with autism, supported by accompanying teachers. The evaluation results indicated that the media significantly helped improve students’ attention and participation during the learning process. Both teachers and students responded very positively to the media, particularly due to its audio features, animations, and immediate feedback, which align with the visual and kinesthetic learning styles commonly associated with students with autism. In conclusion, this interactive learning media is feasible to use as an innovative alternative to support inclusive and enjoyable learning processes for students with autism at SLB Negeri 2 Mataram.
