Abstract

Reading comprehension is essential to learning English; however, many students still struggle to master it. To overcome this issue, the reciprocal teaching model was applied as a solution, emphasizing the strategies of predicting, questioning, clarifying, and summarizing, with the expectation of enhancing students' engagement and reading comprehension skills. This study employed an experimental design using a Pre-test and Post-test Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects consisted of class VIII.7 with 32 students as the experimental group and class VIII.6 with 30 students as the control group. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests in essay form and analyzed to examine effectiveness using an independent t-test and Normalized Gain Score (N-Gain). The results of the independent t-test showed a significant difference between the two groups, both in the pre-test (Sig. 0.002 < 0.05) and post-test (Sig. 0.004 < 0.05). The N-Gain analysis supported these findings, as the experimental class obtained an average N-Gain of 0.6325 (medium to high category) with 72% mastery. In comparison, the control class only achieved an average N-Gain of 0.3039 (low to medium category) with 27% mastery. Thus, it can be concluded that reciprocal teaching effectively improves students' reading comprehension skills

Abstract

This study aims to improve the speaking skills of fifth grade students at SDN 74/II Tanah Periuk by using the Duolingo application as a learning medium and this study aims to determine whether using the Duolingo application can improve students speaking skills and to describe the process of improvement during teaching and learning activities. This study also aims to provide an alternative learning medium that is effective, engaging, and able to motivate students to practice speaking English interactively. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 26 fifth-grade students at SDN 74/II Tanah Periuk as subjects. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The data collection instruments were teacher observation sheets, student observation sheets, and tests. The research was conducted in the second semester of the 2025/2026 acedemic year. Based on the results of data analysis, it is know that after the Duolingo application was implemented the learning process and students’ speaking skills experienced a significant increase. This is demonstrated by the results of teacher teaching observations in cycle I, which increased by 70% in cycle II to 88%. Furthermore, the average students learning process increased in cycle I to 59,61% (Satisfactory) and increased to 84,61% in cycle II. Similarly, the percentage of student learning achievement in cycle I increased from 69,23% to 88,46% in cycle II. Therefore, the implementation of the Duolingo application can improve the learning process and outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 74/II Tanah Periuk in English

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to describe the improvement of the learning process and mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the Make a Match learning model in Grade V students of SDN 064/II Perumnas I, Rimbo Tengah Subdistrict, Bungo Regency. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 18 students, while the focus of the study was on learning activities and mathematics learning outcomes in the topic of decimal number multiplication. Data were collected through observation, learning achievement tests, and documentation, and analyzed using both qualitative descriptive and quantitative approaches. The results showed an increase in student activeness and participation, with the classroom atmosphere becoming more interactive and enjoyable. Student mastery also improved from 27.78% in the initial condition to 66.67% in the first cycle, and further increased to 88.89% in the second cycle. Thus, the Make a Match model proved effective in enhancing both learning activities and mathematics learning outcomes of Grade V students

Abstract

The motivation for this study arose from the unsatisfactory mathematics learning processes and achievement levels of fifth-grade students at SDN 97/II Muara Bungo. The problem was evident from students’ limited involvement in learning activities and the average final exam scores below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKTP) of 70. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles with 24 students as subjects. Data were collected through observation and tests using observation sheets and evaluation questions. The results indicated that the application of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) model improved both the learning process and outcomes. Teacher performance increased from 80% in cycle I to 90% in cycle II, while student engagement rose from 45.83% to 83.33%. Student achievement also improved from 45.83% in cycle I to 83.33% in cycle II. Therefore, NHT proved effective in enhancing mathematics learning quality in elementary schools

Abstract

Automatic question generator (AQG) technology is a system developed to create questions automatically from input in the form of text, images, and videos. AQG has been developed using various approaches such as natural language processing (NLP), statistical approaches, and other machine approaches. AQG has a very important role in the world of education, especially in independent education, because it can be used as a good evaluation medium for students. Utilizing AQG in independent education gives students full control to determine their learning. AQG turns learning into a more interactive experience by generating questions that can trigger critical thinking and problem-solving skills. AQG technology developed in independent learning will encourage students to respond actively to the material and understand concepts more deeply. Approximately 60% of research related to AQG has been conducted for assessment, 18% for knowledge acquisition, and the remainder for validation and other purposes. This research was conducted by conducting a comprehensive review of 63 articles related to AQG in education.
