The journals scope comprises contemporary issues and trends related to teaching and learning educational curricula teaching methodologies and policies teacher education teacher training and various themes pertinent to education and social sciences. Furthermore it encourages multidisciplinary research that integrates various fields including social sciences linguistics science technology and associated disciplines. The journal welcomes the submission of original research articles literature reviews case studies and other relevant academic contributions. Each submitted manuscript will be subjected to a double blind review process to maintain the quality and integrity of the published works. As such this journal serves as a critical platform for disseminating innovative research that plays a significant role in advancing knowledge and education on both national and international scales. The journal is published twice a year in April and October by the Department of PGMI Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah at the Faculty of Tarbiyah STIT Sunan Giri Trenggalek East Java Indonesia.

Abstract

The key factor in determining success in learning is assessment, as it serves as the teacher’s process for making decisions regarding students’ academic achievement. Therefore, assessments need to be developed to become more systematic and valid. Monoton assessment instruments that are not based on students' developmental stages often eliminate crucial elements in learning, such as creativity capacity, critical thinking, and life skills competence. This research aims for educators to develop a more comprehensive and diverse assessment system, as well as constructive assessment and feedback processes, which are also becoming increasingly important aspects for facilitating more effective and efficient evaluations. Whereas this is study employs a library research method. Drawing on books, journal articles, and publications listed in the references. In this way, all available sources of information can be utilized optimally in generating ideas relevant to the research. The findings of this study on developing assessment at the elementary and madrasah ibtidaiyah (MI/SD) level highlight that teachers’ efforts to evaluate students should involve three types of assessment tools: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Furthermore, the development of assessments at the MI/SD level can be advanced through competency-based evaluation, the integration of technology and the enhancement of teachers’ skills. As a result, the implementation of assessments can be carried out more systematically, efficiently and effectively

Abstract

This qualitative library research aims to analyze the pedagogical structure of the adapted "An-Nashor" textbook, focusing on the gradation, selection, presentation, and repetition of its Nahwu and Shorof (Arabic grammar and morphology) materials. The study was motivated by a identified research gap: despite its widespread use, there has been a lack of in-depth analysis of the textbook's pedagogical claims, particularly its systematic organization of complex grammatical concepts. Using content analysis, with the digital and print versions of the "An-Nashor" textbook as the primary data source and 15 supporting journal articles and academic publications as secondary data, this research evaluates the material against principles of learning evaluation and Arabic language material development. The findings confirm that the textbook's content is organized in a systematic and gradual sequence, progressing from fundamental rules (qawa'id) to advanced discussions across nine thematic conversation groups. The study's novelty lies in its comprehensive examination of material gradation in an adaptive Arabic textbook, contributing to the theory of Arabic learning media development by demonstrating the effective implementation of pedagogical principles in a digital format. These results provide a crucial foundation for creating more structured and effective Arabic teaching materials.

Abstract

  Transformasi pendidikan Islam pada era kontemporer ditandai oleh meningkatnya perhatian terhadap integrasi nilai normatif dan praktik pedagogik dalam proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan peserta didik. Kajian mutakhir menunjukkan pergeseran epistemologis dari pendekatan normatif-tradisional menuju paradigma yang lebih integratif, kontekstual, dan interdisipliner (Al Zeera, 2001; Ramadan, 2019). Namun, masih terdapat kesenjangan signifikan antara ideal normatif Islam dengan praktik pembelajaran di lapangan, yang sering kali bersifat simbolik dan tidak menyentuh aspek epistemik dan pedagogik yang mendalam (Creswell, 2022; Webster & Watson, 2002). Gap ini terutama tampak dalam ketidakselarasan antara kurikulum, strategi pembelajaran, dan tujuan pendidikan Islam dalam menjawab tantangan modernitas, seperti sekularisme, globalisasi, dan perkembangan teknologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan library research dengan korpus 50 sumber primer dan sekunder, meliputi kitab klasik, karya ilmiah kontemporer, serta jurnal internasional bereputasi. Analisis dilakukan melalui teknik thematic synthesis dan pendekatan epistemologis untuk mengidentifikasi pola konseptual dan pergeseran paradigma dalam literatur pendidikan Islam. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa (1) dimensi normatif tetap menjadi fondasi utama dalam pembentukan karakter peserta didik Islami, (2) terdapat pergeseran epistemologis yang menunjukkan ketegangan sekaligus sinergi antara paradigma tradisional dan kebutuhan pedagogi inovatif, serta (3) munculnya pendekatan integratif yang memadukan nilai Qur’ani, rasionalitas kritis, dan realitas kontemporer sebagai basis pengembangan pedagogik. Temuan ini memperluas horizon teoretis pendidikan Islam melalui periodisasi perkembangan epistemik dan menawarkan model pembelajaran yang responsif terhadap tantangan abad ke-21. Artikel ini berkontribusi dalam memperkuat fondasi epistemologi pendidikan Islam dan membuka ruang riset komparatif multidisipliner. Secara praktis, temuan ini memberikan arah bagi perancangan kurikulum dan strategi pembelajaran berbasis nilai yang lebih aplikatif dan kontekstual.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has influenced various aspects of life, particularly in education. Among students, the widespread use of social media provides opportunities for self-development while also posing serious risks to character formation if not properly managed. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in addressing social media misuse among vocational high school students. The main objective is to identify and analyze the specific contributions of PAI teachers in guiding students’ religious character, ethical behavior, and digital responsibility. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with primary data collected through interviews with PAI teachers and students at SMK 3 Bina Sejahtera Bogor, supported by secondary data from relevant literature. Data were analyzed thematically using triangulation techniques to ensure validity and reliability. The key findings highlight that PAI teachers perform three critical roles in preventing social media misuse: as role models (uswah hasanah), religious character builders (murabbi), and digital ethics guides (mursyid al-akhlaq). Their exemplary behavior, both offline and online, provides a moral benchmark for students, while religious activities foster self-discipline and moral awareness crucial for ethical digital conduct. These roles demonstrate the holistic function of PAI teachers as both knowledge transmitters and moral educators, reinforcing Islamic educational principles. This study advances understanding of Islamic education’s relevance in the digital era and suggests further exploration of integrated strategies combining digital literacy and Islamic values to enhance students’ resilience against social media’s negative effects.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological well-being of students in Islamic boarding schools through the perspective of cultural and indigenous psychology. A literature review was conducted using national and international academic sources. The findings show that the well-being of students is influenced by religiosity, daily spiritual practices, communal relationships, discipline, and guidance from the kyai. The Western-based Psychological Well-being (PWB) model is not entirely suitable for the pesantren context, which emphasizes collective spirituality, hierarchical relationships, and obedience as a process of self-regulation. Therefore, culturally adapted concepts and measurement tools are needed. Practically, pesantren can enhance meaning-making and self-awareness through muhasabah, tadabbur, emotional regulation training, and Islamic mindfulness practices such as sabar, syukur, tawakal, and tazkiyatun nafs to support holistic well-being and spiritual depth

Abstract

The personality competence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers has an important role in developing the religious character of students through example. However, the condition of some PAI teachers has not been consistent in implementing the personality competencies of teachers. This study aims to examine in depth how the contribution of the personality competencies of PAI teachers, especially in the aspects of work ethic, authority, and wisdom, to the development of students' religious character at SDIT SUIS Bogor. This study uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. The data collection methods used are observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data in this study was carried out the source triangulation technique and the method triangulation technique. The results of the study show that the personality competence of PAI teachers has an important role in developing the religious character of students. The aspects of work ethic, authority, and the wisdom of teachers have proven to contribute positively.

Abstract

Psychology is the science that studies the human psyche and its development. In this article, we discuss common research methods in developmental psychology, including experiments, tests, clinical methods, observation, and case studies. Each method has strengths and weaknesses that need to be considered. This research uses the library research method by examining various reference books and relevant prior research findings to obtain a theoretical foundation and strengthen the analysis of the issues studied. This method was chosen because the research focuses on the conceptual review of investigative methods in developmental psychology, thus not requiring field data collection.  It is concluded that the selection of an appropriate method plays a crucial role in producing valid and reliable findings. Every research design has strengths and limitations that need to be considered in accordance with the research objective and the characteristics of the subjects being studied. Conceptually, a deep understanding of research method principles allows researchers to design studies capable of accurately capturing individual developmental changes and differences between groups. The mastery of research methods is not merely procedural but is also an important conceptual foundation for the scientific understanding of human development and the application of effective interventions in the context of psychology, education, and clinical practice.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited Living Qur’an research that specifically examines the practice of ḥizb ṣagīr recitation as a manifestation of Qur’anic values within the pesantren tradition. Previous studies on the Living Qur’an have largely focused on the ritual recitation of particular verses, overlooking the educational and social roles of ḥizb practices in shaping students’ character. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the meaning and function of the ḥizb ṣagīr recitation at the At-Taqwa Islamic Boarding School of KH. Noer Alie, Bekasi, and to explore its influence on developing students’ sense of responsibility, discipline, and religious awareness, which ultimately contributes to the institutional stability of the pesantren. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-phenomenological method, data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the ḥizb ṣagīr recitation serves not only as a spiritual practice but also as an educational tool fostering moral discipline, responsibility, and social solidarity among students. This tradition creates a conducive environment for the internalization of Qur’anic values, reinforces the ta‘dẓīm (respectful) relationship between students and teachers, and nurtures a pesantren atmosphere of tranquility, authority, and harmony. Thus, the recitation of ḥizb ṣagīr plays an integral educational role that unites spiritual, moral, and social dimensions, serving as a foundation for character formation and the preservation of Qur’anic values within the pesantren educational system

Abstract

Children's ethical and character development is increasingly undermined by digital-era challenges, including misinformation, cyberbullying, and polarization. This conceptual review proposes the Love Curriculum as an ethical framework grounded in compassion to address this gap. It aims to enhance digital literacy and character formation by integrating spiritual values into digital education. Drawing from Islamic heritage, particularly Al-Ghazali's thought, and humanistic psychology, the curriculum is built on four pillars: love for God, fellow humans, the environment, and the nation. These pillars provide a moral lens for navigating contemporary digital landscapes. Employing a library research method, this study synthesizes literature from Islamic education, humanistic perspectives, and digital ethics. Key classical and modern sources were selected through purposive sampling, systematically reviewed, and analyzed via thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that the Love Curriculum serves as a moral filter that fosters a holistic "love literacy" integrating spiritual, emotional, and cognitive dimensions. This approach complements Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum by aiming to cultivate a tolerant and empathetic insan paripurna (holistic individual) in virtual spaces, offering practical implications for inclusive education rooted in rahmatan lil 'alamin (mercy for all creation). The study contributes an adaptive conceptual model that underscores the urgency of infusing spirituality into digital literacy education from early childhood through adolescence. Future research should empirically validate the Love Curriculum's effectiveness on children's digital behavior and character across various settings. Exploring specific pedagogical strategies for its four pillars in digital education is also encouraged

Abstract

This study analyzes the orientation of Islamic education graduates in Indonesia during the late New Order and early Reform periods (1990–2000). It departs from the contrast between the dominant state perspective, which viewed Islamic education as an instrument for political stability and national development, and a critical perspective that considers education as a space for liberation and social awareness. The research aims to describe the state policies on Islamic education during the New Order, examine the shifts in graduate orientation during the crisis and Reform transition, and explore institutional strengthening and intellectual development after 2000. This study employs a qualitative research design with an interpretive critical approach, grounded in Paulo Freire’s theory of critical consciousness and Antonio Gramsci’s concept of hegemony, applied to analyze policy documents, curricula, and Islamic education archives. The findings reveal that Islamic education under the New Order was directed toward producing bureaucratic and ideologically loyal graduates, while in the Reform era it shifted toward institutional autonomy and intellectual professionalism. The study concludes that the orientation of Islamic education graduates reflects the dynamic relationship between political power and the transformation of social consciousness. This research contributes to the study of Islamic education politics through a historical–critical and ideological analytical approach.
