The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, and short communications that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Islamic education. JIEP aims to promote scholarly discussion and academic inquiry into Islamic education and its teaching practices in madrasah (Islamic schools), pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), and Islamic higher education institutions. The journal seeks to strengthen the contribution of Islamic education scholarship in addressing contemporary educational challenges at conceptual, philosophical, policy, and institutional practice levels. The scope of JIEP includes, but is not limited to, the following areas: Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, Islamic Education, Educational Psychology, Learning and Teaching, Curriculum of Islamic Education, Evaluation of Islamic Education, and Educational Philosophy. All manuscripts published in JIEP are expected to provide clear theoretical and/or practical implications for the development of Islamic education. JIEP is published biannually, in March and September, and applies a rigorous peer-review process to ensure academic quality, scholarly integrity, and ethical publication standards.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the learning control system in Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Sumbersari Kediri. The orderliness of students' learning can be improved through the boarding school's security management system. This control system relies on the maximum role of Islamic boarding school security staff in the activities and activities that exist in Islamic boarding schools. This study uses a qualitative field method. This research is intended to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by research subjects, for example behavior, perception, motivation, action, and others related to orderliness of learning in Darussalam Islamic Boarding School and security management systems and security strategies in improving learning order. This study concludes that the system for controlling learning activities at Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Sumbersari Kediri uses a punishment strategy that has value in learning. This punishment is termed takzir. Keywords: safety officer, pesantren, learning order, ta'zir. SISTEM PENGELOLAAN PETUGAS KEAMANAN PESANTREN DALAM KETERTIBAN PEMBELAJARAN Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui implementasi sistem penertiban pembelajaran di Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Sumbersari Kediri. Ketertiban pembelajaran santri dapat ditingkatkan melalui sistem pengelolaan keamanan pondok pesantren. Sistem penertiban ini bertumpu pada peran maksimal staf keamanan pondok pesantren dalam kegiatan dan aktifitas yang ada dipondok pesantren. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif lapangan. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk memahami fenomena tentang apa yang dialami oleh subjek penelitian misalnnya perilaku, persepsi, motivasi, tindakan, dan lain-lain berkaitan dengan ketertiban pembelajaran di Pondok Pesantren Darussalam dan sistem pengelolaan keamanan dan strategi keamanan dalam meningkatkan ketertiban pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa system penertiban kegiatan pembelajaran di Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Sumbersari Kediri menggunakan strategi punishment (hukuman) yang bernilai pembelajaran. Hukuman ini diistilahkan dengan takzir. Kata kunci: petugas keamanan, pondok pesantren, ketertiban pembelaran, takzir.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implications of Mukti Ali's thinking in Islamic education policies in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method of literature. This study concludes that Mukti Ali's policy thinking includes: a) Improving Islamic educational institutions, b) Modernizing Islamic boarding schools, c) Reforming Islamic higher education institutions or state Islamic religious institutes, d) IAINing the quality of education. Mukti Ali used an integral and interdepamental approach in determining Islamic education policies while serving as Minister of Religion. The 3 ministerial decree issued during the time of the minister of religion Mukti Ali was developed in 1986 through the MAN-PK pilot project, so that Islamic education, especially madrasas, began to appear. In the following year, UUSPN No. 2 of 1989 until UUSPN No. 20 of 2003 became the basis for policies that emphasized that religious education had the right to be received by every student at the elementary, secondary and tertiary levels. MUKTI ALI DALAM KEBIJAKAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM INDONESIA Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskribsikan implikasi pemikiran Mukti Ali dalam kebijakan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif kepustakaan. Penelitian ini menympulkan bahwa pemikiran kebijakan Mukti Ali meliputi: a) Pembenahan lembaga pendidikan islam, b) Modernisasi lembaga pesantren, c) Pembenahan lembaga pendidikan tinggi Islam atau institut agama Islam negeri, d) Peningkatan mutu pendidikan IAIN. Mukti Ali menggunakan pendekatan integral dan interdepamental dalam menentukan kebijakan pendidikan islam selama menjabat Menteri Agama. SKB 3 menteri yang diterbitkan pada masa menteri agama Mukti Ali dikembangkan pada tahun 1986 melalui pilot projet MAN-PK, sehingga pendidikan Islam khususnya madrasah mulai nampak perkembangannya. Pada tahun selanjutnya dikeluarkan UUSPN No. 2 Tahun 1989 sampai pada UUSPN No.20 Tahun 2003 menjadi landasan kebijakan yang menekankan bahwa pendidikan agama berhak diterima oleh setiap peserta didik baik ditingkat dasar, menengah dan perguruan tinggi. kata kunci: pemikiran, kebijakan pendidikan, lembaga pendidikan Islam

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out in depth al-Ghazali's concept of teachers and students. This research is library research. This study concludes several points. First, the ethical concept of teachers and students according to Al Ghazali is influenced by the insight of akhlaqi Sufism. Second, the implementation of the concept of teacher ethics according to Al Ghazali can be practiced by prioritizing the affairs of the hereafter, leaving something related to the world. But many concepts of teacher ethics and according to Al Ghazali can still be applied today in accordance with the concept of Indonesian teacher ethics. Although not all of them are carried out because the studies are different. The ethical concept of teachers and students offered by al-Ghazali is very important in the world of education in an effort to apply al-Ghazali's educational values in the midst of an increasingly modern society. KONSEP ETIKA GURU DAN PESERTA DIDIK PRESPEKTIF AL GHAZALI Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui secara mendalam konsep al-Ghazali tentang guru dan peserta didik. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan beberapa poin. Pertama konsep etika guru dan peserta didik menurut Al Ghazali dipengaruhi oleh wawasan tasawuf akhlaqi. Kedua, Implementasi konsep etika guru menurut Al Ghazali dapat dipraktekkan dengan cara lebih mengutamakan urusan akhirat, meninggalkan sesuatu yang berhubungan dengan dunia. Tapi banyak konsep etika guru dan menurut Al Ghazali yang masih bisa diterapkan sekarang sesuai dengan konsep etika guru Indonesia. Walaupun tidak semua dilakasanakan karena memang kajiannya berbeda. Konsep etika Guru dan peserta didik yang ditawarkan al-Ghazali sangat penting dalam dunia pendidikan dalam upaya penerapan nilai-nilai pendidikan al-Ghazali di tengah-tengah masyarakat yang semakin modern ini. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the amtsilati method at the Al-Aqobah Kwaron Islamic Boarding School, Jombang. This study concludes several points. First, the implementation of the Amtsilati Method at the Al-Aqobah Kwaron Diwek Jombang hut begins with mapping, namely: a) The first year of memorizing the rules of nahwu and sharaf science and understanding the five volumes of the Amtsilati book; b) The second year of implementing the Amtsilati method when reading a book that has been determined by the ustadz; c) The third year of reading, understanding the content of the yellow book with reference to the Amtsilati method. Second, the obstacle and solution in implementing the amtsilati method to accelerate the ability to read the yellow book at the Al-Aqobah Kwaron Diwek Jombang boarding school is the obstacle that students experience boredom when memorizing and understanding the Amtsilati method because of the different experiences of students before boarding and studying the yellow book. The solution is to add training so that those who are still left behind in the material can catch up with those who already understand giving lessons to those who cannot. IMPLEMENTASI METODE AMTSILATI DI PONDOK PESANTREN AL-AQOBAH KWARON JOMBANG Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui implementasi metode amtsilati di pondok pesantren al-aqobah kwaron jombang. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan beberapa poin. Pertama, Implementasi Metode Amtsilati di pondok Al-Aqobah Kwaron Diwek Jombang diawali dengan pemetaan yaitu: a) Tahun pertama menghafalkan qaidah ilmu nahwu dan ilmu sharaf dan memahami lima jilid kitab Amtsilati; b) Tahun kedua mengimplementasikan metode Amtsilati ketika membaca kitab yang telah ditentukan oleh ustadz; c) Tahun ketiga membaca, memahami kandungan kitab kuning dengan acuan metode Amtsilati. Kedua, Kendala dan solusi dalam implementasi metode amtsilati untuk mempercepat kemampuan membaca kitab kuning di pondok Al-Aqobah Kwaron Diwek Jombang adalah Kendala para santri mengalami kejenuhan ketika menghafal dan memahami metode Amtsilati karena pengalaman santri yang berbeda sebelum mondok dan belajar kitab kuning. Solusinya adalah penambahan latihan supaya yang masih tertinggal materi bisa menyusul yang sudah faham memberi pengajaran kepada yang belum bisa. Kata kunci: metode amtsilati, turath, pesantren.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of scientific-based Nahwu learning modules at SMA Darul Ulum 3 Jombang. This research uses the research and development method of the Plomp model. The research targets consisted of the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class is class X IPS2 SMA Darul Ulum 3 Jombang in the 2017/2018 academic year, while the control class is class X MIPA 1 SMA Darul Ulum 3 Jombang in the 2017/2018 academic year. The results of the feasibility test show that the instrument is valid for research. with very good achievement scores, namely: material experts 82.5%, and expert practitioners 83.7%. The results showed that the Nahwu learning module using a scientific approach obtained a significance value = 0.200 and 0.062 > 0.05 during the normality test between the control class and the treatment class. As for the results of the homogeneity test, the significance value = 0.752 and 0.569 > 0.05, and the t-test found that the Sig. (2-tailed) for the posttest of 0.030. Sig. (2-tailed) 0.030 < 5% then the result of t test is H0 is rejected. So, there are differences in student learning outcomes using the nahwu learning module using a scientific approach with student learning outcomes using textbooks.. PENDEKATAN SAINTIFIK DALAM PEMBELAJARAN NAHWU Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengembangan modul pembelajaran Nahwu berbasis saintifik di SMA Darul Ulum 3 Jombang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan model Plomp. Sasaran penelitian terdiri atas sasaran kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Adapun kelas eksperimen adalah siswa kelas X IPS2 SMA Darul Ulum 3 Jombang Tahun Pelajaran 2017/ 2018, sedangkan kelas control adalah siswa kelas X MIPA 1 SMA Darul Ulum 3 Jombang Tahun Pelajaran 2017/ 2018. Hasil uji coba kelayakan menunjukan bahwa instrumen valid digunakan untuk penelitian dengan nilai pencapaian sangat baik yakni: ahli materi 82, 5 %, dan ahli praktisi 83,7 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa modul pembelajaran Nahwu dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik didapat nilai signifikansi = 0,200 dan 0,062 > 0,05 pada saat uji normalitas antara kelas kontrol dan kelas perlakuan. Sedangkan untuk hasil dari uji homogenitas didapat nilai signifikansi = 0,752 dan 0,569 > 0,05, dan pada uji-t didapatkan bahwa nilai Sig. (2-tailed) untuk pascates sebesar 0,030. Sig. (2-tailed) 0,030 < 5% maka hasil uji t adalah H0 ditolak. Jadi, terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan modul pembelajaran nahwu dengan menggunakan Pendekatan saintifik dengan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan buku teks. Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in developing human resources, particularly in shaping intellectual capacity, skills, and moral character. In Islamic education, teachers hold a strategic position in cultivating students’ religious values, including fostering a culture of Qur’anic literacy. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in developing a culture of Qur’an reading at SMP Tarbiyatunnasyiin Paculgowang Jombang, a formal school with a pesantren-based educational environment. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that PAI teachers play a significant role in establishing a Qur’anic culture within the school environment. This role is manifested through strengthening students’ religious practices and moral values, implementing the 5S culture (smile, greeting, salutation, politeness, and courtesy), actively participating in religious events such as Isra’ Mi’raj and the Prophet’s Mawlid commemorations, and promoting Qur’anic literacy through collaboration with the Ummi Foundation Surabaya. Additionally, teachers regularly conduct tahsin sessions to standardize and improve their Qur’anic recitation before teaching students. These findings indicate that the integration of religious habituation, systematic Qur’an learning methods, and teachers’ exemplary roles contributes to the development of a Qur’an-reading culture as a form of Living Qur’an practice in the school context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Aswaja (Ahlussunnah Wal Jama’ah) subject in preserving the values of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) traditions among students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Tambakberas Jombang. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Aswaja teachers, students, and school administrators as research informants. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Aswaja subject plays an important role in strengthening students’ religious understanding based on the teachings of Ahlussunnah Wal Jama’ah within the Nahdlatul Ulama tradition. The learning process not only provides conceptual knowledge of Aswaja principles but also facilitates the internalization of NU religious traditions through the integration of theoretical learning and religious practices such as tahlil, istighosah, maulid recitation, tawassul, and grave pilgrimage. The success of this value preservation is supported by the pesantren environment and the historical influence of KH. Abdul Wahab Hasbullah as an ideological inspiration. However, several challenges were identified, including limited instructional time, limited learning media, and diverse ideological backgrounds of students.

Abstract

Educational supervision plays an important role in improving the quality of learning and enhancing teachers’ professionalism in carrying out educational processes. In the context of Islamic Religious Education, supervision functions not only as an administrative control mechanism but also as a means of moral and spiritual guidance for educators. This study aims to analyze the moral orientation in the supervision of Islamic Religious Education through a religious approach. The research employs a literature study method with a descriptive-analytical approach to various scholarly sources related to educational supervision, moral education, and Islamic education. The data were collected from books, journal articles, and other relevant academic documents, which were systematically analyzed to understand the concept and implementation of a religious approach in educational supervision. The findings indicate that supervision in Islamic Religious Education should be directed toward comprehensive teacher development encompassing pedagogical, moral, and spiritual dimensions. A religious approach in supervision enables supervisors to integrate Islamic values into the guidance process so that learning activities are not limited to cognitive achievement but also contribute to students’ character formation. Furthermore, moral development in Islamic education requires the integration of three essential components: moral knowledge, moral feeling, and moral action, which are interconnected and mutually reinforcing. Therefore, educational supervision grounded in religious values can serve as an effective strategy for improving educational quality while fostering students’ moral character holistically.

Abstract

The emergence of the Society 5.0 era, characterized by the integration of artificial intelligence, big data, and cyber-physical systems into human life, presents complex challenges for contemporary Islamic education. Beyond technological adaptation, Islamic education faces epistemological, ethical, and pedagogical demands to remain relevant while preserving its foundational values. This study aims to analyze the challenges posed by Society 5.0 and formulate a conceptual framework for strengthening Islamic education in response to digital transformation. Using a qualitative library research approach with a critical-analytical perspective, this research examines contemporary educational discourse, Islamic pedagogical principles, and the implications of technological disruption on learning systems. The findings indicate that the challenges of Society 5.0 encompass three major dimensions: (1) the shift in knowledge authority from traditional religious transmission to digital information ecosystems, (2) the transformation of learning patterns toward technology-mediated and personalized models, and (3) the risk of moral and spiritual disorientation amid hyper-connectivity. Therefore, Islamic education must undertake epistemological integration between revelation and scientific knowledge, develop adaptive and technology-based pedagogical models, and strengthen character education rooted in tawhid, adab, and ethical responsibility. In this context, Society 5.0 should not be perceived merely as a technological disruption, but as an opportunity to reconstruct Islamic education toward a more human-centered, value-driven, and transformative paradigm.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a pedagogical analysis of child education methods presented in Tarbiyatul Aulad fil Islam by Abdullah Nashih Ulwan and to examine their relevance to contemporary Islamic education. The study is grounded in the need to reconstruct child education methodologies that are not merely normative-theological but also adaptive to social dynamics, child psychological development, and the challenges of the digital era. Employing a qualitative approach with a library research design, this study utilizes content analysis of the primary text alongside relevant literature in Islamic pedagogy and modern educational theory. The findings reveal that the child education methods in Tarbiyatul Aulad are holistic and integrative, encompassing role modeling (uswah), habituation (ta‘wid), advice (mau‘izhah), supervision (muraqabah), and educative discipline (ta’dib). These methods collectively form a pedagogical framework that integrates spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social dimensions in shaping children’s personality. Analytically, these methods demonstrate conceptual convergence with social learning theory, behaviorism, and humanistic educational approaches. Nevertheless, certain concepts require contextual reinterpretation to align with child-friendly educational paradigms, digital literacy, and reflective-critical approaches within contemporary Islamic education. The study concludes that the child education methods in Tarbiyatul Aulad make a significant conceptual contribution to the development of contemporary Islamic pedagogy, provided that they are contextualized through a dialogical engagement between normative tradition and modern educational theory. These findings enrich the discourse of Islamic pedagogy and offer a conceptual foundation for strengthening value-based character education within contemporary Islamic educational systems.
