Abstract

The research aimed to evaluate how maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life influences the loyalty of staff in hospitals located in Delta State. To achieve this, a survey research method was utilized, involving 213 workers from five private medical facilities in Asaba, Delta State. Hence, the research was conducted with a group of 139 workers, determined using the Yamen formula for sample size estimation. The participants were chosen using the method of stratified random sampling. Data was gathered using a structured questionnaire, and reliability was confirmed through a test-retest method. Data analysis involved the use of both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Results indicated that flexible work schedules, leave policies, remote work options, and efficient time management all positively influenced employee commitment to their organizations. The study's overall conclusion was that work-life balance plays a significant role in fostering strong organizational dedication among hospital staff in Delta State. It was suggested that HR managers invest in technology and infrastructure to support remote work, as well as allocate resources for employees' access to necessary tools and secure remote system connections in healthcare settings.

Abstract

This study examines how strategic management enhances organizational performance in selected commercial banks in Delta State, Nigeria. The key objectives are to assess the impact of strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance evaluation on bank effectiveness. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 200 bank employees via surveys and 10 senior managers through in-depth interviews. Analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings reveal that strategic planning aligns business goals with market opportunities, resource allocation improves efficiency and profitability, and performance evaluation enhances decision-making and operations. Banks that adopt strategic management practices demonstrate higher customer satisfaction, increased market share, and greater profitability. The study recommends that banks prioritize strategic planning, optimize resource allocation, and implement robust performance evaluation systems. Additionally, fostering a culture of continuous strategic improvement and aligning strategies with market trends is essential. This research contributes empirical insights into strategic management’s role in banking performance, offering valuable guidance for industry leaders.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial passion is a key driver of business success, particularly in small-scale enterprises facing resource constraints and market uncertainties. This study examines the impact of entrepreneurial passion, measured by Sense of Purpose and Vision (SPV) and Emotional Attachment (EA), on the profitability of small-scale poultry farms in Delta State, Nigeria. Using a quantitative approach, survey data from 298 poultry farmers were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and ANOVA. Results indicate strong entrepreneurial passion among farmers, with SPV (r = 0.713) and EA (r = 0.702) showing significant positive correlations with profitability. Regression analysis confirms these effects, with SPV (β = 0.436, p = 0.001) and EA (β = 0.300, p = 0.014) contributing significantly to financial success. The model explains 89.1% of profitability variation (R² = 0.891), and ANOVA results (F = 595.857, p = 0.000) confirm its significance. The study concludes that fostering entrepreneurial passion enhances profitability and recommends targeted programs to strengthen farmers' vision, motivation, and emotional investment. Additionally, financial institutions should support passionate farmers to promote sustainable growth.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of proactive orientation on the performance of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Delta State, Nigeria, with a focus on two key dimensions: Goal Setting and Planning (GSP) and Initiative Taking (INT). A sample of 390 SMEs operating in various sectors within Delta State was surveyed to assess how proactive behaviors, such as setting clear goals, planning strategically, and taking initiative, affect business outcomes. The study employs a quantitative research methodology, utilizing structured questionnaires to gather data on proactive orientation and its relationship with SME performance indicators like profitability, growth, and competitive advantage.The findings reveal that both Goal Setting and Planning (GSP) and Initiative Taking (INT) have a significant positive impact on the performance of SMEs. Specifically, businesses that engage in thorough planning and goal setting tend to achieve higher levels of organizational efficiency and profitability. Likewise, SMEs that demonstrate a high degree of initiative-taking are better equipped to seize market opportunities, adapt to challenges, and innovate, leading to improved overall performance.The study recommends that SME owners and managers in Delta State prioritize the development and implementation of structured goal-setting frameworks and proactive planning strategies. Additionally, fostering a culture of initiative-taking within organizations will enhance their ability to respond effectively to changing market conditions and emerging opportunities.In terms of contributions to knowledge, this research highlights the critical role of proactive orientation in driving SME success in a developing economy like Nigeria.

Abstract

The research was carried out in order to address worries over different levels of employee productivity and the necessity to comprehend the impact of internal elements like leadership, motivation, and job contentment within the Solok Regency Transportation Department. The primary goal of this study is to assess how leadership, motivation, and job satisfaction affect the performance of employees at the Solok Regency Transportation Department (DISHUB). The focus of the study includes DISHUB employees situated on Jl. Raya Koto Baru, Solok Regency, West Sumatra. The study utilised quantitative research by distributing questionnaires to 92 employees for data collection. Findings indicated that leadership did not have a significant impact on employee performance, with a t-count value of 1.294 and a significance level of 0.200. Similarly, motivation did not show a significant effect, with a t-count of -1.873 and a significance of 0.065. On the other hand, job satisfaction was found to have a notable influence on employee performance, with a t-count of 2.060 and a significance of 0.043. Moreover, the three variables collectively affected employee performance, as evidenced by an F-count of 3.230 and a significance level of 0.027. The coefficient of determination (R²) suggested that 11.9% of the variation in employee performance stems from leadership, motivation, and job satisfaction, with the remaining influenced by other factors. The study offers suggestions for enhancing employee job satisfaction to boost overall performance within the organisation.

Abstract

The increasingly fierce talent competition in the modern business ecosystem demands organizations, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to formulate effective retention strategies to ensure operational sustainability. This study aims to systematically review the effect of compensation systems on employee intention to stay, by placing perceived organizational support (POS) as a moderating variable. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method is used with reference to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol through an in-depth analysis of literature in the Scopus database for the period 2015–2025.The study’s findings indicate that a competitive and fair compensation system is a key foundation for fostering employee retention intentions, but its effectiveness is highly dependent on the psychological factors of the work environment. Perceived Organizational Support (POS) has been shown to act as a significant moderator that strengthens this relationship; where employees’ perceptions of organizational care and appreciation transform the transactional value of compensation into deeper emotional bonds. The synergy between transparent reward policies and tangible organizational support creates human resource resilience, crucial for the long-term competitiveness of MSMEs. This study emphasizes the importance for MSME owners to focus not only on financial incentives but also on strengthening a culture of organizational support to reduce employee turnover rates in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

The life insurance industry in Indonesia plays a strategic role in economic resilience, yet faces persistent challenges in building customer loyalty, as evidenced by high lapse rates and low persistency ratios despite strong financial performance by major players. The objective of this investigation is to assess the impact of communication quality, perceived reputation, and relational relationships on customer loyalty at PT Asuransi BRI Life, with trust acting as a mediator. A quantitative explanatory approach utilizing a survey method was adopted. Responses were gathered via Likert-scale questionnaires from 260 active customers with a minimum of one year’s tenure. Analysis via Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS 4.1.6 software revealed that communication quality, reputation perception, and relational relationships each exert a positive and significant influence on customer loyalty. Beyond their direct effects, communication, reputation, and customer relationships are proven to build trust. This trust is pivotal: it directly fosters loyalty and, as a mediator, channels and reinforces the influence of the other three factors. Collectively, this model explains 62.4% of the fluctuations in customer loyalty. This finding confirms that non-financial factors, especially effective communication, company reputation, and relational relationship quality, have a strategic role in building trust and increasing life insurance customer loyalty. This research provides practical implications for insurance companies in designing communication strategies and customer relationship management oriented toward strengthening long-term trust.

Abstract

This research is conducted in response to the increasing trend of university students undertaking employment while pursuing higher education as a strategy to meet financial needs and enhance career readiness. This study analyzes the factors influencing students’ decisions to work while studying, focusing on Regular CK (Thursday) class students at Pamulang University, South Tangerang. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the research examines economic, motivational, social, and institutional factors shaping students’ dual roles as workers and learners.Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using several statistical procedures to ensure data quality. Validity testing confirmed that all research items were valid, while reliability testing showed strong internal consistency across variables (Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70). Classical assumption tests were also performed, where the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test indicated normally distributed data (Asymp. Sig. = 0.200), and linearity testing confirmed significant linear relationships between variables.Correlation analysis revealed a strong positive relationship between the examined factors and students’ decisions to work while studying (r = 0.623, p < 0.05). Regression analysis further demonstrated that variable X significantly influences student decisions, supported by corrected item–total correlation values for X1.5 (0.485), X1.9 (0.484), X1.15 (0.516), X1.16 (0.502), and X1.18 (0.488), along with significant t-test and F-test results.The findings indicate that students’ decisions to work are influenced not only by economic necessity but also by personal motivation, career preparation, and social support. This study contributes theoretical insights into working-student behavior and offers practical implications for educational institutions and employers in developing supportive environments for students managing dual responsibilities.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology and intense business competition have significantly influenced consumer behavior, particularly among Generation Z who dominate mobile phone ownership in Indonesia and exhibit unique consumption patterns toward premium brands like iPhone. This study analyzes the influence of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), shopping lifestyle, and promotion on impulsive buying behavior for iPhone products among Generation Z in Surabaya. Utilizing a sample of 150 respondents drawn from the Surabaya-based Generation Z population through purposive sampling, the research employed online questionnaires with a Likert scale for data collection. Subsequent analysis via Multiple Linear Regression using SPSS 27 yielded partial results showing that: (1) FOMO does not have a significant effect on impulsive buying (sig. 0.751 > 0.05); (2) shopping lifestyle has a positive and significant effect (sig. 0.001 < 0.05); and (3) promotion has a positive and significant effect (sig. 0.043 < 0.05). Simultaneously, all three variables significantly affected Impulsive Buying with an R Square contribution of 12.3%. In conclusion, while Gen Z follows iPhone trends, FOMO is not the primary driver of impulsive purchases. Instead, shopping lifestyle and promotions play dominant roles in encouraging unplanned purchases. Marketers should optimize creative promotional strategies over FOMO-based approaches.
