Jurnal Bebasan
Jurnal Bébasan (2721-4362 and 2406-7466) is a linguistic and literary scientific journal managed by Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Banten and Perkumpulan pengelola Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia serta Pengajarannya (PPJB-SIP). This journal is a cross-disciplinary publication for researchers from diverse language and literature backgrounds, focusing on multilingual and multicultural development. It covers macro-level topics such as ethnicity, education and nationalism, identity politics (including linguistics, literature, religion, and psychology), language and literature in cultures in contact, and the interconnections among language, culture, and religion. Jurnal Bébasan is dedicated to fostering vibrant interdisciplinary dialogue that transcends traditional academic boundaries, with a specific emphasis on advancing knowledge and understanding aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Jurnal Bébasan has been active since 2014 and has been integrated with the OJS system since 2019. Currently, Jurnal Bébasan has been accredited SINTA 4 (2019) by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia and SINTA 5 until 2026 and is currently in the re-accreditation assessment process held by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia Focus and Scope Jurnal Bébasan is a linguistic and literary scientific journal managed by Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Banten and Perkumpulan pengelola Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia serta Pengajarannya (PPJB-SIP). This journal is a cross-disciplinary journal for researchers from diverse scholars on language and literature backgrounds. This journal focuses on multilingual and multicultural development. It is concerned with macro-level coverage of topics in the ethnicity, education and nationalism, identity politics (with its linguistics, literature, religion, and psychology), languages-literature in cultures in contact, and intertwinings among language, culture and religion. Artikel hasil penelitian ini berisi pembahasan tentang eksistensialisme tokoh utama dalam cerita pendek Di Joyoboyo Penyair Berteman Sunyi. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori struktural terutama tentang tokoh utama dalam fiksi.Sementara perilaku tokoh utama dibaca dengan sudut pandang filsafat eksistensialisme Jean Paul Sartre.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analitis.Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik kajian pustaka.Hasil penelitian adalah eksistensialisme tokoh utama dapat dirasakan pada kecemasan tokoh utama.Kecemasan yang dirasakan oleh tokoh utama meliputi kecemasan karena kondisi ekonomi, kecemasan hasrat, hingga kecemasan pada dirinya sendiri.Kecemasan bermula karena pilihan tokoh penyair untuk memilih profesi penyair.Eksistensialisme juga terlihat saat tokoh utama mengalami bunuh diri filosofis dan kematian fisik.

The research aims to investigate the use of non-verbal communication in academic presentation and to describe the reasons of the use of non-verbal communication by students of the in academic presentation at English department, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Qualitative method was employed in this research particularly case study design. The participants were three students of fourth semester of English department who were taking public speaking subject. To collect the data, three techniques were employed; observation, questionnaire, and interview. The researcher used observation to find out the types of non-verbal communication in academic presentation. The questionnaire and interview were used to answer the reasons toward the use of non-verbal communication in academic presentation. Afterwards, the data were further analyzed by using qualitative data analysis method of Miles, Huberman, & Saldana theory. The data analysis showed that: gesture was non-verbal communication which the most frequently used by the students. Moreover, students preferred to use gesture and eye contact: The former was used to help conveying the communicative more easily, the later was used to make the presentation more interesting. It can be stated that non-verbal communication is helpful for the students in making presentation performance.

Dewasa ini retorika diartikan sebagai seni berbicara baik, yang dipergunakan dalam proses komunikasi. Penelitian ini mengenai linguistik analisis bahasa dan mencakup retorika. Retorika modern mencakup ingatan yang kuat, daya kreasi dan fantasi yang tinggi, teknik pengungkapan yang tepat dan daya pembuktian serta penilaian yang tepat. Berretorika juga harus dapat dipertanggung jawabkan disertai pemilihan kata dan nada bicara yang sesuai dengan tujuan, ruang, waktu, situasi dan siapa lawan bicara yang dihadapi. Metode penelitian ini deskriptif kualitatif dan menggunakan teknik wawancara. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan cara polisi lalu lintas di Kota Pamekasan menyusun kata-kata sebagai usaha efektif dalam bertutur. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa Susunan kata dan gagasan yang disampaikan Polantas Pamekasan pada saat melakukan operasi lalu lintas sudah sesuai dengan cara menyapa yang baik kepada pengendara yang melanggar lalu lintas. Cara yang mereka lakukan antara lain bertanya yang sopan dan tegas dan memberi pelanggaran, menindak, mendakwa biar masyarakat tau apa yang di langgar, sehingga tidak perlu pembetulan.

The objective of this research was to find out the effectiveness of using English pop songs toward students’ listening comprehension at the tenth grade of SMAN 5 Kota Serang. The population of this research was all the students of the tenth grade of SMAN 5 Kota Serang, and the sample were X Science 4 as experimental class and X Science 3 as control class. The researcher used quantitative method by implementing true experimental design.The instrument of research was the tests: pre and post test. The result of students’ average in pre-test were 45.17 for experimental and 46 for control class. The result of students’ average in post-test were 78 for experimental and 71.67 for control class. It can be concluded that using English pop songs was effective toward students’ listening and the teachers can use English pop songs a a media to overcome students’ difficulty in listening and improve their listening comprehension, too.

Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran tentang penggunaan media audio visual dalam meningkatkan keterampilan siswa kelas VIII pada pembelajaran mendengarkan berita. Penggunaan metode audio visual serta teknik penggunaan media pembelajaran yang tepat dan sesuai dengan materi pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak atau mendengarkan berita, khususnya dengan menggunakan media audio visual. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media audio visual dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam pembelajaran mendengarkan isi berita.

The objective of the research was to find out the effectiveness of using cartoon movie toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN2 Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by applying true experimental design for conducting the research. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Kota Serang. The sample of this research was the students of VII A as experimental class and VII B as control class. Each class consisted of 37 students. The classes were chosen by cluster random sampling from ten classes. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. Pre-test was given to the classes before treatment. Then treatment was given only to experimental class for two meetings. Post-test was given to the classes after treatment. In analyzing the data, the researcher used T-test. The result of the calculation showed that is tcount (20.2) is higher than ttable (1.99). It means that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alterative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, cartoon movie is effective on the students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Kota Serang and one of the media which is can help the students in solving their problem in learning English vocabulary. In addition, cartoon movie can make the students enthusiastic, interested, and enjoy in learning English vocabulary.

The objective of this research is to find out whether Randalls‟ ESL Cyber Listening Lab as a teaching media for listening is effective for students‟ listening comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMA PRISMA Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by using true experimental design. The population of this research is all students at eleventh grade of SMA PRISMA Kota Serang. The sample were divided into 2 classes, they were XI IPS 1 as the experimental class and XI IPS 2 as a control class. Each group consists of 20 students. Then, the result showed the significance degree of 5%. The result was t_count > t_table (82.05 > 2.02), it means that the null hypothesis (H_o) is accepted. This indicates that Randalls‟ ESL Cyber Listening Lab is effective to be used as a media for students‟ listening comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMA PRISMA Kota Serang.
