The Journal of Education Policy and Development (EPD) is a scholarly platform dedicated to advancing discourse on education policy and its development. This journal is conceived with the objective of addressing a critical gap in academic literature and providing a comprehensive outlet for rigorous research and analysis in the field of education policy. As a peer-reviewed publication, the EPD Journal invites diverse discussions employing various approaches and methodologies on education policy discourse across all educational levels. Abstract

Assurance of quality and assessment of the current state of services provided by government-funded colleges and universities are constantly dominating the agenda in most countries. Developing countries in the Asia Pacific, such as the Philippines, are concerned with continuously improving their academic standards while pursuing greater access and opportunity. Quality arrangements are now being sought to balance quantity, quality, and public accountability as it moves toward mass higher education with a greater diversity of students and modes combined with tightened or limited resources. As a result, SUCs (State Universities and Colleges) and LUCs (Local Universities and Colleges) are expected to constantly respond to changes in the higher education environment to address their students' diverse learning and support needs. Under such circumstances, this study is relevant. The main objective of this research is to cover the student assistance services offered by SUCs and LUCs, given that higher education institutions are focusing on meeting the standards assigned by recognized accreditation agencies on a standard-by-standard basis. Since HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) place a high value on quality assurance, and institutional and program accreditation leveling for global recognition, this study determined the current state of SSP as perceived by student respondents. This research is limited to a particular degree program (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) from the following government-funded HEIs: University of Makati (UMak), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST), and Bulacan State University (BulSU).

Abstract

This research focuses on how various parties view and comprehend Northwestern University's Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGO) and whether they are aligned with them. Specifically, the study examines the stakeholders' awareness, acceptance, understanding, congruence, clarity, and perception. Stakeholders consisted of the students, faculty and staff, alumni, and industry partners. The research used structural equation modeling to find the links between awareness, acceptance, and understanding, congruency and clarity and perception. The study's findings were that the three variables relate to each other; however, the personal profile of the respondents only affected the awareness, acceptance, and understanding variables. This indicates that, for example, the age of the stakeholder, the older the stakeholder, the more he is aware of and comprehends the VMGO of the University. Moreover, this study recommends that the Institution continues to think of ways how to let its stakeholders comprehend the VMGO of the University.

Abstract

College students are one of the populations that are vulnerable to mental health disorders; various reasons can cause this. Sometimes there are triggers that cause students to feel that their mental health is not good, such as academic fatigue, academic stress, social support, and others. This study aims to find out how the mental health conditions at a university in Jakarta are described. The study involved 207 participants from 7 faculties using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, and Deliberate Self Harm Inventory questionnaires. The analysis technique used was accidental sampling, and the data analysis technique used the Independent Sample T-test. The results showed that men have lower levels of anxiety and depression than women, while women tend to hurt themselves more than men. In conclusion, every faculty has students who experience anxiety disorders, depression, and self-harm behavior. As for this research, it can be used as additional data from previous research, especially at the University where this study was taken. The limitations of this research are in the aspects of the sampling method and the limitations of measuring instruments.

Abstract

Communication is one of the fundamental factors in operating complex and highly regulated industries such as aviation maintenance. Aviation graduates' job performance and career development are highly dependent on their communication skills. However, the transition from student to aviation worker requires individuals to adapt to new communication practices in the workplace. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the oral and written communication activities that the young aviation personnel in the aviation industry frequently encounters. In addition, this study was also conducted to find out what challenges they face in terms of communication. Nine participants, young aircraft maintenance technicians and License Aircraft Engineers (LAE), were involved in semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed thematically and managed using ATLAS.ti software. The results show that the English language is critical for the development of professional communication skills among young aircraft maintenance technicians, as they need English language skills for oral and written activities. The identified needs and challenges in communication skills would help aviation institutions develop solutions to meet the aviation industry's needs.

Abstract

This narrative review examines the degree to which authors contend that education contributes to or hinders the development of an individual skill that leads to employment. Besides, it provides an overview of the kinds of training that allow people to develop their skills and find employment globally and within Ethiopia following a dependency model (employability on education and skill development). The literature review examines the importance of education for employment and developing skills and talents. A few of the most significant policy issues, employment strategies, and challenges are also reviewed accordingly. Consequently, it might be possible to conclude that a person's education should align with the kind of job that organizations and individuals are seeking around the globe, including in Ethiopia. In the end, following a thorough literature review, this research provides some recommendations to enhance education for upcoming progress.
