Abstract

Qualified as an international language of communication and development, English is used worldwide and is essential for a country's development. This subject is taught in Malagasy public institutions from the sixth grade and is more advanced in private schools. Rural contexts, which are sometimes complicated and relatively weaker, compared to urban areas, in terms of technology and didactic materials, have an impact on the adoption of this language. The scarcity of linguistic immersion is among the challenges that rural education must face. A number of written questionnaires and oral interviews have been addressed to the target population, such as rural students, English teachers in public and private high schools, parents of students, and educational leaders or advisors. The XLSTAT statistical software was used to derive results that affirm the need to consider the contexts of English teaching and learning in rural areas, as well as the impacts of the linguistic environment. This requires the adoption of modeling, new approaches, and methods.

The data used for the study were collected using a structured questionnaire which was subjected to face and content validity of experts. The data collected were analysed through using both descriptive and inferential statistic. The study findings revealed that, ethno-religious crisis affects settlement patterns of students in Jos North and has caused the redrawing of Jos map. This also affects freedom of socialization as students are restricted from moving through some environments that is perceived as dangerous, this erroneous belief could affect students achievement adversely. The study recommended that, there should be adequate hostels to accommodate students within the campuses so that students will not be exposed to the risk of ethno-religious crises outside the campus. Also, government should provide needed atmosphere in terms of policy and flexible framework that will ensure peaceful co-existence among others.

Abstract

This study looked at Northern Nigeria prior to the origination of Boko Haram in the 21st Century. The research also traced the activities of Islamic sects from the 19th century and the factors that preluded the Boko Haram war. A retrospect and review of the facts was made, in order that scholars would have an insight on the doctrinal influences of sect activities on clandestine groups like Boko Haram. The research examined the perceptions, as well as doctrines, philosophy and influence. The study relied on documentary data. The documentary data were sourced from newspapers, journal papers, internet sources and correspondence. The documentary was subjected to internal and external criticism for authentication, and then to textual and contextual analyses. This crisis in Northern Nigeria correlates very much to the sectarian interpretations. The undefined Nigerian border with Cameroon, Chad, and Niger in the North allowed for interaction among the people of both nations. It is this lacuna that made Boko Haram evasive in strategic terms. It is also the core reason for insecurity and terrorism.

Abstract

The problem of the relationship between the concepts of “conflict” and “competition” in law is considered. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the existing differences in legal conflicts and competition of legal norms. To achieve this goal, the following tasks have been set: 1) to reveal the etymology of the concepts “conflict” and “competition”; 2) analyze the views of legal scholars regarding the concept of conflict in law and its characteristics; 3) critically evaluate the positions of the authors who give examples of norms in which conflicts and competition in law are identified; 4) define the concept of competition in law, giving examples of criminal law norms; 5) objectively assess conflicts and competition in law from the point of view of legal regulation. The author of the study comes to the following conclusions: 1) legal conflicts and competition of legal norms are independent legal phenomena; they are united only by the fact that in both conflict and competition, the law enforcer must choose one of the norms to regulate the actual relationship; 3) legal conflicts and competition of legal norms differ: a) from the point of view of their assessment; b) from the point of view of their connection with the actual circumstances of the case: competition cannot exist in isolation from the actual circumstances of the case; conflicts of legal norms exist regardless of whether there are specific facts falling under these norms; 4) the problem of the relationship between legal conflicts and competition of legal norms has not only theoretical, but also practical significance.

Abstract

Jewish religious traditions detailed in Exodus 30:34-38. Comprising rare spices like stacte, onycha, galbanum, and frankincense, the Ketoret (קְטֹ֣רֶת) was historically burned in the Tabernacle, symbolizing a direct connection to the divine. Despite ongoing debates on ingredient identification, the ritualistic importance of the Ketoret remains deeply rooted in Judaism, prompting continued exploration in religious scholarship, despite its absence in modern Jewish tradition. Our research conducts a thorough bibliographic review, integrating biblical data to scrutinize the complex phenomena surrounding the Ketoret. Seeking to provide innovative frameworks, our study aims to illuminate the ritual's intricacies, fostering paradigm shifts in interdisciplinary discourse and advancing scientific understanding. The burning of the sacred Ketoret, composed of Commiphora myrrha, Onycha, Ferula galbaniflua, and Boswellia sacra, transcends mere fragrance, symbolizing a transformative process. The rising smoke becomes a spiritual offering, creating a bridge between the terrestrial and celestial realms and mirroring the worshipper's ascent toward the divine. This study underscores the Ketoret's theological significance as a conduit for spiritual elevation and connection, where the burning ritual signifies a fragrant communion with the divine. Each ingredient's meticulous selection imparts layers of symbolic significance, representing unity and diversity within the divine fabric. The research also traces the historical evolution of aromatic practices, from traditional fumigation to contemporary extraction methods, highlighting enduring global traditions and diverse applications in various temples and Israel's Ministry of Health-approved kits.

Abstract

Genesis 11:6 illuminates the intertwining realms of human potential and divine purpose, extolling the limitless power when united. This timeless summons encourages noble pursuits in reverence to the Creator. Employing a methodology bridging the Bible and the Internet, ingenious narratives in both Testaments exemplify human prowess. Online, the evolution of technology and social networks manifests breakthroughs, including the realm of artificial intelligence. This progress aligns with scientific feats like cloning, in vitro babies, and transformative plastic surgery. Yet, amidst this expansive landscape, limitations persist. Societal constraints, environmental factors, self-imposed boundaries, and the overarching authority of the divine collectively circumscribe human endeavors. This exploration underscores the delicate interplay between human ingenuity and divine order, prompting contemplation on ethical dimensions and the intricate balance inherent in the multifaceted journey of human existence.

Abstract

This research aimed to assess the impact of the think-pair-share strategy on the self-esteem development of Junior Secondary School II (JSS II) social studies students in Jos North, Plateau State, Nigeria. The study was guided by four objectives, and corresponding research questions were formulated to address these objectives. A quantitative descriptive survey method was employed as the research design. The target population comprised 1334 JSS II social studies students across 22 public schools in Jos North. The researcher designed two structured questionnaires for data collection, one for students and one for teachers. Face and content validity were applied to the instruments, and reliability was established at 0.67 and 0.71 for the students' and teachers' questionnaires, respectively. Data analysis utilized mean and standard deviation for the main analysis, while simple percentages were employed to analyse respondents' demographic information. The findings indicated, among other insights, that the think-pair-share strategy was not widely known among teachers and students of social studies in the study area. Additionally, the study highlighted the significant role of the think-pair-share strategy in fostering the development and enhancement of students' self-esteem in Junior Secondary School. The study recommends organizing seminars, symposiums, and conferences to familiarize teachers with the think-pair-share strategy as an effective teaching approach. Furthermore, school administrators should recognize the importance of introducing teachers and students to the think-pair-share strategy and encourage its implementation in their respective classrooms.
