Abstract

This research has been conducted on phytoremediation of waste containing lead (Pb) and nickel (Ni) using Kiambang (Salvinia molesta). Previous s studies by Teguh showed that Kiambang capable for reducing nickel content in the media phytoremediation with reduced nickel metal ion in 6 mg/L be reached until 2.36 mg/L fir 12 days. This study aims to determine the magnitude of decrease the concentration of lead and nickel in wastewater using Kiambang. Phytoremediation media of lead in the form a solution of 0.5 mg/L and 0.8 mg/L. A solution of Nickel at 2.5 mg/L and 3 mg/l. Each concentration included in 3 reactors with each reactor volume of 3 liters. Kiambang inserted into two reactors with a wet weight of each reactor at 30 gram and 60 grams. The reactor used as a reactor control. Concentration measurements of Pb and Ni on 3, 6, 9, 12 using AAS. The results showed that Kiambang is more better to decrease concentration of nickel than decrease of lead concentration. The final result concentration of Pb 0.5 mg/L with Kiambang wet weight 30; 60 grams are 0.412 mg/L and 0.304 mg/L. Then the final decrease of nickel concentration 3 mg/L is 0.670 mg/L; 0.252 mg/L. Kiambang can be categorized as metal accumulator species.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCow urine contains a high element of nitrogen that can be utilized as a liquid fertilizer. In the process of making liquid fertilizer, addition of fish waste is expected to increase the nutrients content. This study aims to analyze the content of CNPK liquid fertilizer from cow urine with the addition of fish waste. This goal is traced by varying the amount of fish waste addition (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50) g and day tests CNPK content analysis (before and after fermented). This liquid fertilizer using anaerobic fermentation technology for the past 14 days with the addition of banana roots MOL as bioactivator. The results showed that the addition of cow urine with 20 grams of fish waste is the most effective with C-organic content of 4.41%, Ntotal by 0.62%, amounting to 0.58% P2O5 and K2O by 1.30% however, this liquid fertilizer is not eligible to Permentan No.70/Permentan/SR.140/10/2011 about pupuk organik, pupuk hayati, dan pembenah tanah.

Abstract

In this study using a mixture of domestic wastewater. Parameters to be researched is the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N). Alternative anaerobic treatment is to use UASB (upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) . This study performed a variation of Hydraulic Loading Rate (HLR) and the influent concentration to obtain the optimum conditions on an UASB reactor laboratory scale for removal BOD5, COD and NO3-N in a mixture of domestic waste water (grey water and black water). Pollutant removal efficiency by varying the influent concentration and HLR for BOD5 was about 57% -76%, for COD was about 59% -69% and NO3-N was about 75% -98%. The results is the lower influent concentration will decrease removal efficiency that occurred on the parameters of BOD5, COD and NO3-N. The maximum removal efficiency on the parameters BOD5 and COD occurs when HLR low at 0.025 m3/m2/hour or 6.94 x 10-6 m / s. While the maximum removal efficiency of NO3-N occurred when HLR high 0.05 m3/m2/hour or 1.4 x10-5 m / s.  Removal for BOD5 optimum occurs at low concentrations are 419 mg / l with a variation HLR of 0.05 m3/m2/hour  or 1.4 x10-5 m / s,  for COD occurred at low concentrations are 878 mg / l with a variation HLR of 0.025 m3/m2/hour or 6.9 x10-6 m / s, and NO3-N concentration was occur in the 36 mg / l with a variation  HLR of 0.033 m3/m2/hour  or 9.2 x10-6 m / s. The results of treatment using UASB  still above the standards that should UASB be used as a secondary treatment  to obtain the effluent below quality standart.

Abstract

The production process activities by steel smelting factory and transportation activities can generate carbon monoxide (CO) gaseous that dangerous. PT. Inti General Yaja Steel Semarang located at the intersection of Jrakah is one of steel smelting industry which uses the MFO as fuel for their production activities. The volume of fuel MFO used for by PT. Inti General Yaja Steel Semarang production and the volume of vehicles passing through Jrakah intersection  are the source of carbon monoxide (CO) which the dispersion process is affected by humidity, temperature, wind direction and speed. This study aim is to determine the effect of the pollutant sources volume, humidity, temperature, wind direction and speed on the concentration of CO in the area of the factory PT. Inti General Yaja Steel  and at the Jrakah intersection, besides, to determine whether the concentration of CO is mutually influenced by conditions in these two places.The research was conducted at vehicle crowded hours, normal factory production hours and non- production factory hours . Based on these results, the concentration of CO in the factory area range in value from 2 to 2.75 ppm at both vehicle crowded hours, normal production at the factory hours and non- production factory hours. The concentration of CO at the Jrakah intersection in vehicle crowded hours (7:00 to 8:00) are in range of 1.75 ppm - 30.25 ppm, the concentration of CO at Jrakah intersection in normal production hours (15:00 p.m. to 16:00) were between 11.25 ppm - 22.25 ppm, and the concentration of CO at Jrakah intersection in non-production hours (19:00 to 20:00) were in the range 4.5 ppm - 22.25 ppm.The statistic results indicate that there are significant differences in the concentrations of CO results in the factory area and at the Jrakah intersection. CO concentration in factory area is not affected by the volume of fuel, humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction in its area, while the concentration of CO in Jrakah intersection are affected by the volume of vehicles passing through, humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction at the intersection itself. The concentration of CO in the area of the factory is not affected by the volume of vehicles passing through, humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction at the Jrakah intersection, and so the concentration of CO in the intersection Jrakah are not affected by the volume of fuel, humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction in the factory area.

Abstract

Abstract Electroplating industrial wastewater containing heavy metals that are harmful so that need treatment in order to minimize impact on the environment. Most industries treat their wastewater by coagulation - flocculation. It is easy in the processing but the cost and the resulting large amount of mud, especially in metal-based industries. The experiments were conducted in batches of 1 liter for 120 minutes, direct current of 5 A and a voltage of 3 V at current densities of 40, 50, 60, and 70 mA/cm2 and type electrode Aluminum and Iron. From the experimental values obtained electrocoagulation efficiency is 95% Ni and Cu were 98% in current density 70mA/cm. Comparison between electrocoagulation and coagulation do to get a new alternative technology in electroplating wastewater treatment. In terms of cost and processing electrocoagulation technique has many advantages than coagulation. Therefore the best treatment alternative selection is electrocoagulation

Abstract

Bioethanol is one of the fill-in alternative energy of fossil fuels. The substances used in this research is banana  weevils. The production of banana weevil bioethanol through the process of hydroulic enzym, fermentation with stater and distillation. Enzyme hydrolysis using materials such as Aspergillus niger, while the fermentation process using a variety stater EM4 and water fermented cassava then variation on the long fermentation time (3 days, 6 days, 9 days and 12 days). The parameters measured were pH, sugar content after hydrolysis and the fermentation process, then ethanol levels after the distillation process. In the process of hydrolysis of the banana weevil extract yield of 2.00% glucose. The results on ethanol the variation of stater EM4 and water fermented cassava obtained the highest fermentation is day 6 is 1.03% v / v and 1.05% v / v.            Bioetanol merupakan salah satu energi alternatif pengganti bahan bakar fosil. Bahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah bonggol pisang. Pembuatan bioetanol dari bonggol pisang melalui proses hidrolisis enzim, fermentasi dengan stater dan destilasi. Hidrolisis enzim menggunakan bahan berupa aspergillus niger, sedangkan proses fermentasi menggunakan variasi stater berupa EM4 dan air tape singkong setar variasi pada lama waktu fermentasi (3 hari, 6 hari, 9 hari dan 12 hari). Parameter yang diukur adalah nilai pH, kadar gula setelah proses hidrolisis dan saat proses fermentasi, kemudian kadar etanol setelah proses destilasi. Pada proses hidrolisis ekstrak bonggol pisang menghasilkan kadar glukosa sebesar 2,00%. Hasil penelitian kadar etanol pada variasi stater EM4 dan air tape didapatkan hari fermentasi tertinggi adalah hari ke 6 yaitu 1,03% v/v dan 1,05% v/v.

Abstract

Blondo landfill is the place for final processing and it is existed in the Semarang Regency. Blondo landfill is located in Desa Blondo, Bawen Subdistrict with total area is about + ​​5 ha. Increased population, increased economic, and the advance of technology cause an increase population activities in areas such as housing, industry, commerce, agriculture and other sectors. It is causing increased consumption patterns of the population. The pattern of increased consumption will increase the amount of waste. Waste will cause environmental pollution if it’s not managed properly. Therefore, it is necessary for Blondo landfill to be able to accommodate an increase of waste’s amount. Follow up Blondo landfill site selection study’s activity, it required a plan for process and management of Final Disposal (TPA) by using a system of sanitary landfills. It can be obtained detailly in the design of Blondo landfill Semarang Regency.

Abstract

ABSTRACT BSB  City Industrial Estate is an industrial area which activities and centrally located in the district Mijen Semarang city, industrial area contains manufacturing and warehousing industries. this area will be constructed wastewater distribution system planning and Wastewater Treatment Plants. Widely held at the industrial park with an area of ± 110 ha area for existing or for future development. The distance between one industry to another with regular road network large enough to transport passing, the contours of which are in the industrial area has a contour in the form of hills and down into the river, this allows gravity flow drainage system. Distribution system which was selected to be applied in the industrial BSB City is a conventional system, since BSB City industrial area has a large area of land with a greater load distribution, so that the required pipe diameter is relatively large with no dependence on the availability of clean water. In addressing pollution would happen then to system off site, which means that the distribution of industrial waste water through a closed pipeline (sewerage system). Furthermore, for industrial wastewater treatment plant used wells equipped with pumps collector, barscreen, equalization basin, primary clarifier, activated sludge basin, and sludge drying bed. It hopefully will be able to overcome the environmental problems in the industrial area BSB City, Mijen Semarang City. In addition, off-site system and its wastewater treatment plant is expected to create the industry's healthy and environmentally friendly

Abstract

Sound in specific intensity which is caused by production engines in factories that operated for 24 hours all day are potentially causes one of  environment pollution impact, in this case is noise pollution. Main impact of noise are exposure objects surrounds the engines, that is Hearing Threshold Level (HTL) reduction of workers surrounds who are exposed by noise from that engines. This research is purpose to survey and analyze a noise intensity in Ring Frame area on Spinning 5 unit PT APAC INTI CORPORA, Bawen-Semarang and to analyze the diferrence of workers’re HTL before and after exposed by noise in that area. Before is when first time the workers work  in that area, and after is when this research did. Based on worker’re audiometric tests did in June 12th, 2013 for 15 workers in that area, shown that Hearing Threshold Level average of 4 workers suffered minor deaf right ear. And 3 workers suffered minor deaf left ear. The comparation result of hearing threshold level before and after exposed by noise in that area, can be inferred that occurs the increasing of Hearing Threshold Level (hearing reduction) of workers in that area. From comparative statistic analysis test Paired Sample T-Test, signification value (probability) is 0,000 < 0,05 that H0 denied (H1 accepted). So can be conclude that there is a strong relation between differences of Hearing Threshold Level before and after exposed by noise in that area.

Abstract

Along with the increasing number of urban population and urbanization, it will grow a lot of waste generated as well. According to the Public Works Department, the rate of domestic waste in Temanggung is 2.79 L/person/day, so that waste generation in Temanggung each day is 128m3/day. But the ministry was still 6.27%. To reduce the amount of waste generated in Temanggung had done some trash pemialahan in each house. Given the role of such a society, the waste produced by the settlement will be slightly reduced, where the waste could still be recycled back can still be useful. Based on the need to evaluate the condition of the existing waste management and to the development of waste management system in Temanggung.
