Abstract

Cayenne pepper are one of the most widely consumed horticultural commodities by the public and are economically very important. The main issue faced by farmers is the presence of pests and diseases that often attack and disrupt the growth of cayenne pepper plants, leading to a decline in quality and productivity, which in turn causes losses for farmers. The aims of this study is to determine the costs, revenues, incomes, profit, and feasibility of cayenne pepper farming in South Lampung Regency. The research was conducted in Tajimalela Village, Kalianda District, South Lampung Regency, with a sample size of 25 farmers. The method used is quantitative analysis. The results of this study show that the total cost incurred by farmers was IDR 15,444,415. The revenue obtained was IDR 30,464,329, while the income amounted to IDR 18,250,433, and the profit was IDR 15,019,914. The R/C Ratio value was 1.97, indicating that cayenne pepper farming in South Lampung Regency is feasible and profitable.

Abstract

Rice is the main staple food in Indonesia and is highly vulnerable to price fluctuations due to strong consumption dependence, quality issues, and the complexity of its supply chain. This study aims to analyze the volatility and vertical integration of medium and premium rice prices at the producer, wholesale, traditional market, and modern market levels. The data used are secondary data from the Ministry of Trade’s Market Monitoring System for Essential Goods (SP2KP) covering the period 2020–2024, analyzed quantitatively using the Coefficient of Variation (CV), ARCH/GARCH models, and VECM. The results show that all variables exhibit high persistence (greater than 0.75), indicating that price volatility tends to be long-lasting. Rice prices are highly vulnerable to short-term shocks such as weather, harvests, distribution, and import policies, as small disturbances can have prolonged effects without intervention. Producers are more reactive than consumers, so price shocks are transmitted more quickly at the producer level, while medium-grade consumers are relatively more stable due to distribution policies. The highest volatility is found at the retail level, whereas consumer prices are relatively more controlled, though instability has not been fully eliminated. Market integration analysis reveals both short-term and long-term linkages across price segments. These findings highlight the importance of stabilization measures, such as Bulog’s market operations, which should focus on mitigating short-term shocks to prevent prolonged impacts and to strengthen market integration in maintaining price stability and national food security.

Abstract

Abstract

The low productivity and quality of land spinach, particularly in Lampung, are due to several factors: the lack of use of superior varieties, limited fertilizer use, inappropriate planting distances, and poor cultivation techniques. One alternative to increasing kale yields is through intensification, which involves the use of fertilizer in the correct dosage and method. This study aims to determine the effect of Bayfolan foliar fertilizer on the productivity of water spinach (Ipomoea reptans Poir). The hypothesis proposed in this study is: the application of foliar fertilizer affects the productivity of water spinach plants, and a dose of 3 ml is the best concentration in increasing the productivity of land spinach (Ipomoea reptans Poir). This study was conducted from December 2024 to February 2025, in Natar, Natar District, South Lampung Regency. The experiment used a completely randomized block design (RAKL) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of B0 (without leaf fertilizer), B1 (leaf fertilizer 1 ml/l water), B2 (leaf fertilizer 2 ml/l water), B3 (leaf fertilizer 3 ml/l water), B4 (leaf fertilizer 4 ml/l water). The similarity of data variance was tested using the Bartlett test and the additionality of data was tested using the Tukey test, the data was processed using analysis of variance and the difference in mean values was tested using the BNJ test at the 5% level. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded: the provision of leaf fertilizer has a significant effect on the productivity of land spinach, and the concentration of 3 ml/l leaf fertilizer has the best effect on the productivity of land spinach plants, especially on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, stem diameter, and yield per plot of land spinach plants.

Abstract

The advancement of sustainable livestock practices in Indonesia is persistently challenged by deficits in the feed value chain, namely availability, quality, and affordability, with pronounced effects on smallholder productivity. Subang Regency, West Java, has strong potential for developing sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) as a locally based complete feed resource due to its adaptability to marginal lands and climate variability. This article aims to analyze the development of sorghum-based complete feed and its role in strengthening local agribusiness through a region-based collaborative approach. A qualitative descriptive method was employed using secondary data from scientific literature, policy documents, and official publications from 2024–2025. The results indicate that integrating sorghum into complete feed systems improves feed-use efficiency, reduces production costs, and strengthens local agribusiness value chains. This development is supported by multi-stakeholder collaboration involving research institutions, industry, educational institutions, and farmer groups, forming an inclusive agribusiness innovation ecosystem. Such collaboration enhances technology adoption, institutional capacity, and rural economic opportunities. In conclusion, the development of sorghum based complete feed represents a promising agribusiness strategy to support sustainable livestock systems and local economic strengthening in Subang Regency, with strong potential for replication in regions with similar agroecological conditions.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in Indonesia’s economy; however, limitations in cost management often hinder efficiency and competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the production cost structure of Queen Bakery MSME located in Bumi Agung Village, Kalianda District. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Primary data were collected through observation and interviews, supported by secondary data. Cost structure analysis was conducted by classifying production costs into fixed costs and variable costs, followed by the calculation of Total Cost (TC), Average Total Cost (ATC), Average Variable Cost (AVC), and Average Fixed Cost (AFC). The results show that with a production volume of 3,000 bread units per month, the total production cost amounted to IDR 13,100,000, consisting of fixed costs of IDR 3,900,000 (29.77%) and variable costs of IDR 9,200,000 (70.23%). The calculated ATC was IDR 4,367 per unit, AVC was IDR 3,067 per unit, and AFC was IDR 1,300 per unit. The cost structure of Queen Bakery MSME is dominated by variable costs, particularly raw material expenses. These findings indicate that increasing production volume has the potential to reduce AFC and ATC, thereby improving cost efficiency and business competitiveness. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for cost management and pricing decisions in bakery MSMEs.
