Abstract

The rapid advancement of deep learning has significantly influenced various educational domains, including English Language Teaching (ELT). This study explores the integration of deep learning theories into modern ELT practices, emphasizing their potential to enhance language acquisition, personalization, and instructional effectiveness. Deep learning models, such as neural networks and natural language processing systems, enable adaptive learning environments that respond to learners’ individual needs, proficiency levels, and learning styles. By analyzing recent theoretical frameworks and practical applications, this paper highlights how deep learning supports automated feedback, intelligent tutoring systems, speech recognition, and data-driven assessment in English language classrooms. Furthermore, the study discusses the pedagogical implications of integrating deep learning with communicative and learner-centered approaches, as well as the challenges related to ethics, data privacy, and teacher readiness. The findings suggest that when aligned with sound pedagogical principles, deep learning technologies can transform traditional ELT into a more interactive, efficient, and inclusive learning experience. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of how artificial intelligence–driven theories can be meaningfully applied to support teachers and learners in the evolving landscape of English language education.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is an essential skill in English language learning, yet many students still experience difficulties in understanding reading texts. This study aims to explore the students’ difficulties in understanding reading texts at the tenth grade of SMK Syabilrosyad NW Semaya in the academic year 2022/2023. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants were tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through reading tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The findings revealed that students faced several difficulties, including limited vocabulary mastery, lack of background knowledge, difficulty in identifying main ideas and specific information, and problems in understanding text structure. Additionally, students’ low motivation and limited reading strategies also contributed to their comprehension problems. The study concludes that these difficulties hinder students’ reading performance and suggests that teachers apply appropriate teaching strategies, such as vocabulary enrichment and explicit reading strategy instruction, to improve students’ reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of motivation, discipline, and school environment on students’ academic performance in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at a vocational high school (SMKN). A quantitative research approach with a correlational design was employed. The population of this study consisted of all students at the selected SMKN, with a sample of 120 students determined using random sampling techniques. Data were collected through structured questionnaires using a Likert scale to measure motivation, discipline, and school environment, while students’ academic performance was obtained from academic records. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results indicate that motivation, discipline, and school environment each have a significant positive effect on students’ academic performance. Furthermore, the simultaneous test shows that these three variables collectively contribute significantly to students’ academic achievement in the context of the Merdeka Curriculum implementation. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening students’ internal factors and creating a supportive school environment to optimize learning outcomes under the Merdeka Curriculum framework.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in improving the quality of educators and educational staff at MAN 1 Lombok Timur. The research aims to analyze how TQM principles—such as continuous improvement, faculty development, and administrative efficiency—contribute to maintaining high educational standards. A qualitative research approach with a descriptive method was employed, utilizing observations, interviews, and document analysis to gather comprehensive data. The findings indicate that MAN 1 Lombok Timur has successfully implemented TQM by enhancing teacher training programs, performance evaluations, and institutional management systems. The integration of technology in teaching, structured teamwork, and quality control mechanisms has significantly improved teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes. However, challenges remain, including resistance to change among educators, varying levels of teacher motivation, and financial constraints. Addressing these challenges requires strategic planning, ongoing professional development, and stakeholder engagement to sustain TQM implementation. This study concludes that TQM is an effective model for improving educational quality and can serve as a framework for other Islamic educational institutions seeking to enhance their teaching and administrative practices. To ensure the long-term sustainability of quality education, the study suggests continuous training, stronger stakeholder involvement, and diversified funding sources as key strategies for strengthening TQM implementation at MAN 1 Lombok Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance students’ English pronunciation skills through the use of children’s songs as a learning medium for eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Sakra Timur. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental group taught using children’s songs and a control group taught using conventional teaching methods. The participants consisted of eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pronunciation tests administered before and after the treatment. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ pronunciation skills, particularly in aspects of stress, intonation, and sound accuracy. Students in the experimental group demonstrated higher post-test scores compared to those in the control group. The findings indicate that children’s songs create an enjoyable learning atmosphere, increase students’ motivation, and facilitate better pronunciation practice. Therefore, the use of children’s songs is effective in improving English pronunciation skills and is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy in English language teaching at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among teachers and educational staff at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Mataram, Indonesia. OCB, defined as voluntary behaviors that contribute to organizational effectiveness without formal rewards, plays a critical role in enhancing institutional performance, collaboration, and student outcomes. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the research identifies job satisfaction, leadership style, organizational culture, perceived organizational justice, and intrinsic motivation as key determinants of OCB. Findings reveal that 96.8% of respondents exhibit moderate to very high levels of OCB, indicating a generally positive organizational culture. However, challenges such as excessive workloads, lack of recognition, and limited professional development hinder optimal OCB levels. The study also highlights the unique influence of Islamic values in fostering discretionary behaviors, emphasizing the importance of aligning organizational practices with cultural and religious principles. Recommendations include strengthening transformational leadership, enhancing job satisfaction, ensuring fairness in reward systems, and fostering a collaborative work environment. By addressing these factors, MAN Mataram can improve institutional effectiveness and contribute to the broader goal of enhancing the quality of education in Indonesia. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers and educational stakeholders seeking to optimize human resource management and OCB in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the PACE (Project, Activity, Cooperative, and Exercise) learning model based on Spring media in enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning skills. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group. The population consisted of secondary school students, with samples selected through purposive sampling and divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected using a mathematical reasoning test designed to measure students’ abilities in logical thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and an independent sample t-test. The results indicate that students who were taught using the PACE learning model integrated with Spring-based media achieved significantly higher mathematical reasoning skills compared to students who received conventional instruction. These findings suggest that the integration of the PACE learning model with digital learning media is effective in improving students’ higher-order mathematical thinking skills and can serve as an alternative instructional strategy in mathematics education.

Abstract

This study developed an inquiry-based biology module to enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding in line with the Merdeka Curriculum. Conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Sakra Timur, it involved 26 students in the experimental group and 24 in the control group, using the Research and Development (R&D) method based on a modified Borg and Gall model. The module followed an Inquiry-Based on Interactive Demonstration approach with five stages: observation, manipulation, generalization, verification, and application. Results showed significant improvements in cognitive (85.89 vs. 79.92), affective (89.74 vs. 73.13), and psychomotor (89.48 vs. 30.84) aspects compared to conventional methods. The module effectively enhanced critical thinking, motivation, and practical skills, supporting 21st-century competencies. Despite challenges like time constraints and teacher training needs, proper planning can ensure success. This inquiry-based module is recommended for broader adoption to foster interactive and student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of boarding school management in shaping students’ religious character at MA Mu’allimin NW Anjani. Boarding school management plays a strategic role in organizing educational activities, discipline, religious programs, and daily supervision that contribute to students’ moral and spiritual development. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving school leaders, teachers, dormitory supervisors, and students. The results show that the effectiveness of boarding school management is reflected in well-structured religious programs, consistent implementation of rules, exemplary behavior from educators, and a supportive boarding environment. These factors significantly influence the formation of students’ religious character, including discipline in worship, moral behavior, responsibility, and social awareness. However, several challenges remain, such as limited facilities and differences in students’ backgrounds, which affect the optimal implementation of management programs. Overall, effective boarding school management contributes positively to shaping students’ religious character at MA Mu’allimin NW Anjani.

Abstract

The principal plays a crucial role as a key agent of change in improving the quality of senior high school education. This study aims to examine the innovative strategies implemented by school principals in enhancing educational quality, particularly in the areas of instructional leadership, school management, teacher professional development, and the creation of a positive school culture. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving principals, teachers, and school staff. The findings reveal that effective principals demonstrate visionary leadership, encourage collaborative practices, integrate technology in school management and learning processes, and continuously support teachers’ professional growth. These strategies contribute significantly to improving teaching effectiveness, student achievement, and overall school performance. The study concludes that principals who act as catalysts for change are able to transform schools into adaptive, innovative, and high-quality educational institutions. The results of this research are expected to provide insights for school leaders, policymakers, and educational stakeholders in developing effective leadership practices in senior high schools.
