Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases and remains a major public health concern among productive-age populations. Sodium intake and psychological stress are considered important modifiable factors associated with changes in blood pressure. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between sodium intake and stress levels and blood pressure among production employees at PT Eurochair Internusa. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 74 production employees selected through purposive sampling. Sodium intake was assessed using a Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), stress level was measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), and blood pressure was measured using an Omron JPN600 digital sphygmomanometer. Data were analysed using the Spearman Rank correlation test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed a significant positive relationship between sodium intake and systolic blood pressure (p=0.003; r=0.344), while no significant relationship was found between sodium intake and diastolic blood pressure (p=0.379). Stress level was not significantly associated with systolic blood pressure (p=0.336), but showed a significant positive relationship with diastolic blood pressure (p<0.001; r=0.407). The novelty of this study lies in examining the combined influence of sodium intake and stress level on blood pressure among manufacturing production employees, a population that has received limited attention in previous studies. These findings suggest that controlling sodium intake and implementing workplace stress management programs may help maintain normal blood pressure and prevent hypertension among employees.

Abstract

Nutritional status reflects the balance between nutrient intake and the body's requirements, influenced by various factors including macronutrient consumption and physical activity. This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between energy, carbohydrate, protein, and fat intake, as well as physical activity, with employees' nutritional status. This research employed an observational analytical quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, involving a sample of 74 respondents. Macronutrient intake was measured using a 2x24-hour food recall, and physical activity was assessed using the Baecke questionnaire, while nutritional status was measured based on Body Mass Index (BMI). Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. There were significant positive correlations between energy intake and nutritional status (p = 0.003; r = 0.342), carbohydrate intake and nutritional status (p = 0.022; r = 0.266), and fat intake and nutritional status (p = 0.000; r = 0.508). The strongest positive correlation was observed between fat intake and nutritional status (r = 0.508).The strongest association was found between fat intake and nutritional status (r = 0.508). However, no significant relationship was observed between protein intake and nutritional status (p = 0.057; r = -0.222). There is a relationship between physical activity and nutritional status (p = 0.000; r = -0.798). These results indicate that the greater the intake of energy, carbohydrates, and fat, the higher the likelihood of an individual being overweight or obese.

Abstract

Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of death. Surgery remains the primary treatment modality, but the resulting surgical stress often triggers significant metabolic, cardiovascular, and psychological responses. Post-surgery, patients are at risk of a 20% to 40% decrease in functional capacity, leading to an increased risk of complications and prolonged hospital stay. This review aims to evaluate the benefits of a multimodal pre-rehabilitation program on improving post-operative functional and clinical outcomes in colorectal cancer patients. The methods of this article were searched through Scopus and PubMed databases for the period 2021-2026. Keywords used in the literature search included "prehabilitation" or "pre-habilitation," "colorectal cancer," and "functional outcome" or "6MWT." The results show that a multimodal pre-rehabilitation program integrating physical exercise, nutritional support, and psychological support (anxiety management and relaxation techniques) yields positive outcomes. The key efficacy parameter, 6MWT, demonstrated a highly significant increase in distance traveled compared to the control group, both pre-operatively (+96 meters) and at the 4- to 8-week post-operative evaluation. Furthermore, this intervention plays a role in reducing the incidence of major complications (Clavien-Dindo grade ≥ III) and has been shown in numerous studies to shorten hospital stays. The conclusion is that multimodal pre-rehabilitation is an effective perioperative preparation approach for colorectal cancer patients. This program consistently improves functional capacity, accelerates post-operative recovery, reduces the risk of serious complications, and shortens hospital stays, making it a standard strategy for improving patients' quality of life.

Abstract

Misinformation about nutrition is a serious public health issue because it can influence eating behaviors and reduce the effectiveness of nutrition programs. This study aims to identify myths and misinformation about nutrition circulating in Kulon Progo Regency and to explore the challenges faced by nutritionists in addressing them. A quantitative descriptive study using content analysis was conducted among 25 nutritionists working at community health centers across all 12 subdistricts in Kulon Progo Regency. Data were collected via an open-ended online questionnaire and analyzed through coding, categorization, theme development, and interpretation. A total of 35 myths and pieces of misinformation were analyzed. The most frequently encountered topics were pregnancy, the introduction of complementary foods, and noncommunicable diseases. Nutritionists also reported challenges in addressing misinformation, such as cultural beliefs, family influence, social media, and limited counseling time. The study’s findings indicate that misinformation is not solely caused by limited nutritional knowledge but is also influenced by sociocultural factors. Therefore, nutrition education should incorporate cultural sensitivity, local contexts, family involvement, and community health workers to enhance the effectiveness of nutrition programs.

Abstract

The Minister of Health has mandated that all workplaces implement occupational health initiatives to prevent adverse health outcomes among workers, their families, communities, and the surrounding environment. This study aimed to analyze the extent of the association between Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance and visual impairment among welding workshop workers in Johan Pahlawan District. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were evaluated using univariate and bivariate analyses. The results demonstrated a significant association between knowledge and visual impairment (p = 0.000, OR = 1.081). Similarly, a significant correlation was observed between worker attitudes and visual disorders (p = 0.0000, OR= 0.788). Furthermore, actions regarding PPE usage were significantly associated with visual impairment (p = 0.0000, OR = 0.925). Based on these findings, it is suggested that workshop owners enhance monitoring, counseling, and safety guidance regarding the correct usage, maintenance, and storage of PPE. Workers with high knowledge levels should maintain safe practices to foster better safety attitudes during welding operations. Finally, relevant government agencies can utilize these findings as a reference to address occupational safety issues more comprehensively.

Abstract

Gastritis is a condition characterised by inflammation of the gastric mucosa (stomach lining), marked by nausea, vomiting, weakness, and abdominal discomfort. The incidence of gastritis in Indonesia is relatively high, with a prevalence of 274,396 cases amongst a population of 238,452,952. This study aims to analyse the relationship between caffeine consumption and gastritis symptoms among university students. This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population comprised all students at Teuku Umar University, and the sample was selected using time-based accidental sampling. Specifically, between March and April 2026, 308 respondents who met the inclusion criteria were recruited during the data collection period. Data were collected using a questionnaire covering respondent characteristics, caffeine consumption, and gastritis symptoms. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis to describe each variable and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test to assess relationships between variables. The results showed a significant association between caffeine consumption and gastritis symptoms (p-value = 0.008). This study concludes that there is a significant association between caffeine consumption and gastritis symptoms. Therefore, students are advised to limit the amount and frequency of their caffeine consumption as a preventive measure against gastritis.
