Muaddib: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is a high-quality, open-access, and peer-reviewed research journal published by Institut Agama Islam Syubbanul Wathon Magelang. The journal is published twice a year (June and December) in electronic (online) media, with its inaugural issue commencing in June 2026. Muaddib focuses on publishing innovative research and academic discussions in the field of Islamic religious education. The scholarly scope of the journal specifically covers instructional design in Islamic learning, pedagogy and teaching methods of Islamic education, and moral as well as character development across various educational settings. This journal aims to serve as an essential platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to advance contemporary Islamic education theories and practices. Muaddib: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam adalah jurnal ilmiah berbasis open-access dan peer-reviewed berkualitas tinggi yang diterbitkan oleh Institut Agama Islam Syubbanul Wathon Magelang. Jurnal ini diterbitkan secara berkala dua kali dalam setahun (Juni dan Desember) dalam media elektronik (online), dengan tahun pertama kali terbit pada Juni 2026. Jurnal ini berfokus pada publikasi hasil penelitian inovatif dan diskusi akademik di bidang Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Ruang lingkup keilmuan yang menjadi fokus utama terbitan ini mencakup desain instruksional pembelajaran Islam, pedagogi/metodologi pengajaran PAI, serta pengembangan moral, karakter, dan akhlak peserta didik di berbagai jenjang pendidikan. Jurnal ini ditujukan menjadi media diseminasi bagi para akademisi, peneliti, dan praktisi untuk memajukan teori dan praktik pendidikan Islam kontemporer.

Abstract

Learning motivation plays a critical role in students’ academic success, particularly in socially dynamic environments where peer influence is increasingly prominent. This study aims to examine the direct and interactive effects of peer conformity and social support on adolescents’ learning motivation within an integrative structural framework. A quantitative explanatory design was employed, involving 402 secondary school students in Indonesia, with data analyzed using Variance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results demonstrate that both peer conformity and social support have significant positive effects on learning motivation (β = 0,310, p < 0,05; β = 0.47, p < 0,05, respectively). Crucially, the interaction between peer conformity and social support is found to be significant (β = 0,180, p < 0,05), confirming that social support acts as a moderator that strengthens the positive impact of conformity on academic engagement. This study contributes theoretically by bridging fragmented literature into a comprehensive model of social dynamics and offers practical implications for educators to design socially responsive learning strategies that leverage peer environments.

Abstract

Students’ learning outcomes serve as a critical indicator of the success of the educational process within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). In the context of learning the Jurumiyah book, the teacher’s professional competence is a pivotal factor, as it determines the clarity, systematic delivery, and comprehensibility of nahwu (Arabic grammar) material. This study aims to analyze the influence of teachers’ professional competence on students’ learning outcomes in the Jurumiyah course at the API Asri Islamic Boarding School in Tegalrejo, Magelang. Employing a quantitative approach with an associative research design, this study involved 168 students from the Marḥalah Śāliśah level, selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed using SPSS version 26, incorporating validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, simple linear regression, t-tests, and coefficient of determination tests. The results demonstrate that teachers’ professional competence has a positive and significant influence on students’ learning outcomes. This is statistically confirmed by a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the rejection of H0 and the acceptance of Ha. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.687 indicates that teachers’ professional competence contributes 68.7% to students’ learning outcomes, while the remaining 31.3% is attributed to external factors not examined in this study. This research underscores the vital role of pedagogical professionalism in enhancing the quality of classical text instruction within the pesantren ecosystem.

Abstract

This research was conducted at MTs Nurul Ali Secang Magelang, where sports extracurricular activities serve as a vital medium for fostering student discipline, yet their effectiveness remains contingent upon the quality of management implemented. This study aims to analyze the management of sports extracurricular activities in shaping students' disciplined character through the management functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design, data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Purposive sampling was utilized to select key informants, including the madrasah principal, sports extracurricular supervisors, teachers, and student participants. The research results indicate that the planning phase is grounded in the madrasah's strategic work program, aligned with student needs, and oriented toward character development. Organization is executed through a clear division of tasks and responsibilities among the madrasah administration, supervisors, and relevant stakeholders. Implementation is conducted routinely and scheduled systematically, emphasizing time discipline, adherence to regulations, and individual responsibility. Furthermore, supervision is performed through consistent attendance monitoring, behavioral observation, and periodic activity evaluations. Overall, the management of sports extracurriculars contributes positively to shaping students' disciplined character, as evidenced by their improved punctuality, consistent participation, adherence to school rules, and personal accountability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the Mulazamah class program in improving the quality of Qur’an memorization at MI Tahassus Prapag Kidul, Purworejo. The Mulazamah class is an intensive tahfidz program designed to produce students with mutqin (well-established) memorization, characterized by fluency, accurate makharijul huruf (articulation points), precise tajweed, and high retention. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. Informants included the head of the madrasah, Mulazamah class teachers, parents, and students. The results demonstrate that the program’s management is systematically executed based on Terry & Rue (2019) management functions planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. Planning involves setting objectives, determining memorization targets, selecting learning methods, and establishing rigorous student-parent admission criteria. Organizing is implemented through a clear division of responsibilities among the madrasah leadership, tahfidz teachers, and parents. Actuating is carried out intensively through classical tahfidz learning, routine muroja’ah, ziyadah (memorization deposits), spiritual habituation, and nutritional support. Controlling is conducted through periodic evaluations, tasmi’ examinations, systematic progress logging in mutaba’ah books, parental reporting, and corrective follow-ups through tahfidz clinics. These management practices significantly contribute to improving students' memorization quality, enabling them to achieve the Mumtaz (excellent) standard set by the madrasah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of religious culture formation through the Dhuha prayer program at SD Negeri Salaman 4. The research focuses on the application of the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling) functions in implementing the program to foster a robust religious culture among students. Adopting a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The research subjects comprised the principal, teachers, and students. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the validity of the findings was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that: (1) planning is executed through strategic meetings to define objectives, scheduling, and performance indicators; (2) organizing is structured through a clear, participative distribution of roles among the principal and teaching staff; (3) implementation is conducted through consistent habituation, uswah hasanah (role modeling), and positive reinforcement; and (4) controlling and evaluation are performed via clinical monitoring, attendance tracking, and periodic assessments to ensure program efficacy. The Dhuha prayer program has demonstrated a positive impact, manifesting in improved student discipline, habitual worship, and refined moral character. This study concludes that systematic management is a critical catalyst in transforming ritual practices into a sustainable and internalized religious culture within the elementary school environment.
