Technology integration includes learning media, curriculum, assessment processes and science learning outcomes, as well as the application of the latest technology in pure science research. JIPI is scientific journal and published since 2017. Since 2021, JIPI has been published every March, June, September and December. Since 2023, JIPI will prioritize publishing papers submitted in English. Since 2024, JIPI has been nationally accredited (Sinta 2) by the Ministry of Research and Technology or National Research and Innovation Aagency.

Abstract

The use of innovative learning approaches, supported by interactive learning tools, is crucial for facilitating students’ understanding of energy conversion concepts, which are often difficult to visualize. This study examined the impact of the “team game tournament” cooperative learning strategy, combined with PhET simulations, on the cognitive performance of fourth-grade students in science class. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control groups. It involved 48 participants who were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (TGT combined with PhET) or the comparison group (problem-based learning). Students’ cognitive performance was measured using a test based on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy (levels C1 through C6). Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney U test yielded a p-value of 0.012, below the predetermined significance threshold of 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Students in the experimental group achieved a normalized average performance increase of 57.03% and an effect size of 0.363. The greatest improvements were observed in the cognitive domains of application (C3) and planning/design (C6). These findings suggest that the combination of team game tournament and PhET Simulations can effectively enhance students' cognitive development while promoting collaborative, engaging, and enjoyable learning experiences

Abstract

Weavers in North Central Timor, Indonesia, obtain their blue to black dye from two shrubs, tarum (Indigofera tinctoria L., Fabaceae) and mangsian (Phyllanthus reticulatus Poir, Phyllanthaceae). Local users often apply one name to both plants, and the leaves of the two species have never been compared under a single extraction protocol. This study aimed to establish diagnostic field characters that separate these two look-alike dye plants and, for the first time, to compare their qualitative leaf secondary metabolite profiles in water and 95% ethanol under one identical cold maceration protocol. Plants were sampled purposively from stands used by local weavers. Morphological characters were recorded by direct observation and checked against taxonomic literature, and leaf macerates were screened for nine metabolite classes using standard colour and precipitation tests. Four characters separated the species clearly in the field: compound leaf type (imparipinnate in I. tinctoria against paripinnate in P. reticulatus), lamina shape and size, fruit type (dehiscent pod against fleshy globose berry), and stem colour. The aqueous macerate of I. tinctoria gave eight positive classes and its ethanolic macerate gave six, while both macerates of P. reticulatus gave seven each. Anthocyanins were absent from all four extracts. Tannins and phenolics reacted strongly in every extract, and both ethanolic macerates gave the darkest end points. The recovered profile therefore depends on species identity and solvent polarity together. Water recovered at least as many classes as 95% ethanol in both species, which supports the simple aqueous maceration that weavers already use

Abstract

Teaching factory implementation in computer numerical control (CNC) machining learning provides work experience close to industrial conditions, but machine conditions and production results cannot be monitored directly. This study aimed to develop and initially assess the feasibility of a digital twin prototype connected to CNC machines as a monitoring tool for CNC lathe learning. The development followed the define, design, and develop stages of the 4D model, while the disseminate stage was not conducted because the study was limited to product development and initial evaluation. Needs identification involved three productive teachers purposively selected based on their involvement in teaching factory management. Prototype evaluation involved one dashboard expert, two vocational teachers, and five 11th-grade machining students. The system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller to read ready/idle, running, and alarm conditions and transmit data through Wi-Fi using the message queuing telemetry transport protocol to ThingsBoard. The dashboard provides runtime, downtime, cycle time, production results, availability, performance, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness information. Needs analysis yielded 42 positive responses from 45 item-level responses (93.33%). The dashboard expert assessment reached 77.50%, while the two vocational teachers scored 100% and 90%, respectively, and the five students achieved a combined usefulness and feasibility score of 76.95%. The results indicate an initial feasible basis for using the prototype to support data-based CNC learning. However, its effects on student competence and learning outcomes were not assessed and require further experimental evaluation

Abstract

Chemistry education at the secondary level involves an understanding of complex chemical concepts such as the naming of ionic compounds. Students, especially those with below-average learning abilities, often have difficulty identifying cations and anions and classifying ionic compounds, so they need more systematic help. This study aims to develop student activity sheets using response method-structured handwriting construction to help students better understand the naming of ionic compounds. This activity involved four students from high school, consisting of two students who were slow and two who studied regularly. Data were obtained through tests, observations, interviews, and questionnaire, which were triagulated to strengthen the validty and depth of the findings. Results showed an increase in understanding among all students, especially in the naming of ionic compounds, although some of them still faced obstacles in understanding symbolic representations. These findings indicate that activity sheets can improve comprehension, although their efficiency may vary depending on each individual's learning style and background knowledge, stutendts with stronger prior knowledge tended to benefit more scaffolded guidance to reach comparable understanding. Overall, structured activity sheets serve as an effective scaffoldig strategy for supporting conceptual understnding of ionic compound naming, though instructional differentiation is recommended to accommondate individual variation in learning style and prior knowledge
