Abstract

As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has a large Muslim market and growing halal industry. Now many Indonesian brands are using the halal label not only to comply with their regulations, but also to attract their consumers. One of the brands, which has made the halal label a brand, is the Sasha Halal Toothpaste. It is a brand launched by PT. Kino Indonesia, Tbk (Kino). This brand builds an image as an Islamic toothpaste that not only functions as a cleanser, but also satisfies its Muslim consumers. Kino itself is a consumer goods company from Indonesia, which was founded in 1999 by Harry Sanusi, and has become a public company in 2015. Kino launched Sasha Halal Toothpaste in 2018. In a relatively short period of time, this brand was able to generate its products, and be accepted in the toothpaste market in Indonesia. competing with competitors who have become long-standing players in this market. One of the things that drives this is Kino implementing a promotion mix strategy in promoting Sasha Halal Toothpaste. This study provides an overview of the promotion mix strategy of the Sasha Halal Toothpaste. This strategy has led people in Indonesia to be aware of this brand, including a combination of several methods such as advertising, sales promotion, interactive/digital marketing, public relations, events and experiences. This study uses a decsriptive qualitative method, and obtains its data by interviews with Ms. Danti Yulia Nastiti, a brand manager of Kino, including by online and visual data documentation.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the nature of infotainment, the view of Islamic law on media and information products, and the view of Islamic law on infotainment. This research is a qualitative, descriptive study with library research techniques using philosophical, historical, and sociological approaches. The results show two main findings. First, infotainment is basically an information product containing entertainment elements, news, and information about celebrities. It is dominated by celebrity news that is not required by society and potentially provides negative impacts on people's social lives. Second, in the perspective of Islamic law, the media of information in all its forms is something of a neutral nature and hence the legal status depends on the usage purpose. By looking at the elements contained in an infotainment show (gibah, namīmah, and al-jahr bi al-fahisyah) coupled with the violation of at least two main objectives of Islamic Sharia (hifz al-a'rad and hifz al -'aql), infotainment with its present reality is something that is forbidden. The implication of this conclusion is that all attempts to produce, distribute, and consume them are unlawful (haram).

Abstract

The presence of technology, such as social media in cyberspace brings its own benefits to the terrorist groups. Terrorist groups use social media to recruit, influence, rally and invite as many people as possible to join them. Adolescent has become terrorist groups’ new target for their regeneration. The characteristics of adolescents who are looking for self-value and having an interest towards social media, makes them vulnerable to be targeted by terrorist groups. This research is a qualitative research with a case study method of four teenagers’ terrorists. This study aims to analyze how social media acts as an incubator of terrorism among Indonesian teenagers and to analyze how this phenomenon can be categorized as part of Hybrid warfare. The analytical techniques in this study are documentation studies from the news that spread across social media. This research shows that terrorist groups through social media provide anxiety narratives, and provide a role for teenagers to contribute through the path of jihad. To overcome this, the Indonesia government needs to place cyber terrorism in the framework of Hybrid warfare so that the weaponry components and strategies used can be holistic and multidimensional.

Abstract

This article analyses the death penalty for apostasy. Islam as moral and religious teaching recognizes the existence of such punishment. This can be traced from a number of verses from the Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet which explain the concept of the death penalty aimed at certain criminal acts (jarimah) such as apostasy. However, is this the true understanding of the hadith to kill apostates? is still relevant to be applied in the present context, especially when the death penalty has received a very harsh response from human rights activists, both at national and international level? As a response to these questions, the writing analyzes the issue using a descriptive analysis method by making the hadith originating from Ibn Abbas as the research object and by using the theory of sunnah tasyri and ghairu tasyri' by Mahmud Syaltut. The comparison with positive law in Indonesia is also made at the end. In summary, the death penalty for apostasy is no longer relevant in the contemporary context. However, there is an exception when an apostate also commits rebellion (bughat) against the state.

Abstract

This study examines the arguments of saints veneration according to Ayatollah Ja’far al-Subhani’s as one of the Shia Muslim scholars. This is qualitative study using literary research methods to obtain and analyze data with descriptive analysis techniques. Its primary source is the book buhuth qur’aniyyah fi al-tawhid wa al-shirk written by Ja’far al-Subhani himself. On the one hand, some Muslim scholars argue that the veneration of saints tradition including tabarruk (seeking blessings), tawassul (mediation), and tashaffu’ (seeking help) is an act of shirk as it suggests to worship other than Allah, and therefore violates the principle of tawhid uluhiyyah (oneness of worship) stating that Muslims must only worship Allah. On the other hand, Al-Subhani sees the tradition differently. Referring to his definition of worship (‘ibadah), he says that the veneration of saints does not violate the concept of tawhid uluhiyyah, but it is in line with tawhid. He sees it as an act of taqarrub (seeking proximity) which leads a Muslim to get closer to Allah, considering the saints are basically people having a special relationship with Allah.
